President Biden said he was ending his campaign for a second term, after failing to quell a rebellion in his party. Biden made the decision to exit the race Saturday evening, people familiar with his thinking said. He endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, who said she plans to "earn and win" the Democratic nomination.
Other high-profile Democrats and donors backed Harris as well, but some, including Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi, didn't.
If Harris clinched the nomination, possible running mates include Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper.
Elon Musk celebrated the fact that Biden announced he was exiting the race with a post on X. “White House aides learned Biden was dropping out by reading X,” Musk wrote.
Some Republicans called for Biden to resign the presidency. Donald Trump said Biden was “not fit to serve.”

And America was a great nation, from 41 to 45. It was great when it was a haven for newcomers, and its presidents weren't convicted felons or found guilty of sexual assault, and they didn't try to overthrow an election. That's the America that they need to get back to, one that a President isn't a fucking baby who picks fights with the media at every turn. Who doesn't declare that "GOD HIMSELF stepped in and saved me from the assassin!"
I'm glad Biden stepped down, he should have handed over the keys long before this.
Too bad Trump didn't put his country first and step down, but GOD will have none of that.
