That's the first thought that came to my mind.

The OP reminds me of a trip I took to Delaware county back in 1980 - a friend had a well that gushed out water that flowed into a spring. I took a sip of that water and could not believe how good it tasted compared to City water! Now imagine if those oceans of water can be tapped for irrigation and for supplying the cities with water. More food production and enhanced quality of life for all would be guaranteed.

Possibly. The well water that I drank in Delaware County was quite good as it is naturally filtered and tastes so fresh. And it was very cool even in summer.
