I'm taking the day off for Earth Day (also Good Friday, I guess...), so...being a
Friday, I won't be burning the garbage out at the camp I work at, like we usually
do on Fridays. Taking the day off means we'll not be burning through about a
1000 litres of deisel today like we normally do most work days also.

It also means that 1600-1800 cubic yards of earth get to remain in an uncrushed
state for another day too, I guess. Not sure if that's "Earth friendly" or not, but
what the hay.....might be some mice or something living in that slice of Earth.

Does anyone else do anything on Earth Day?
Went to church with the wife for Good Friday service, a nice Cantata was sung by the choir. After lunch I voted for my local Conservative candidate at the advance poll.

Now we celebrate Earth Day what ever that means. Good God the environmentalists come up with
more occasions to celebrate and collect money than even the Christians do.
I am not going out of my way for this one bit. Oh I shredded some paper for recycling and took it out
but why do we have to celebrate some great event? If it gets much worse we will recycle our tin foil
so the special earth people can make hats for themselves so they won't hear the negative voices
anymore.
Today is a day like any other day. Should we do our part to keep the environment clean for the planet
we live on? Of course we should, but we do not have to make a great celebration out of it. I am getting
sick of people wanting me to sit in the dark for an hour, they want me to take transit so I can leave my
car at home, there is a reason I bought the four wheel monster so I could drive it and not have to ride
all over hell's half acre to get home. Should I celebrate drive my car day everyday?
Am I being ridiculous? Yes but I am trying to point out how ridiculous society is becoming we are
fixated on the environment constantly harping about what we should be doing anyway and personally
I don't care about such holidays. Where's my beer?

I see little wrong with having a day to celebrate the planet we live on - no one is forced to participate and those who do help foster awareness about the environment. There is not one habitable planet within our reach, for that reason alone we might be a tad thankful for this beautiful blue planet we call home. Happy Earth Day.
