Does getting behind the wheel make you more stupid?

On Aether Island, we allow traffic to merge. It'd called courtesy. No one gets into a rage. We don't speed up to prevent access for the driver who wishes to travel in our lane. Our scientists claim simple courtesy reduces accidents.

but if you feel it's your right to speed 20-30 over, it's the govt's right to penalize you a large $$ amt.

Every single time I'm on the highway, I'm speeding. But I accept the fact that, if I'm caught, I pay a fine.
That's the rules of the game.

People who whine and fight about tickets are poor losers.

I just love this "fast lane , slow lane" crap. The damn speed limit is 110kmh. If you are doing LESS THAN the posted limit you should be in the RIGHT LANE. The only time you NEED to be in the left lane is when you need to pass someone that is doing LESS THAN the posted speed limit.

my latest pet peeve, (because it has happened 4 times in the last two weeks), is when I am sitting
waiting to turn left, waiting for all the traffic to go by, for a spot to come open, and the light
turns amber, and the 'late' car of oncoming traffic, (who has time to stop,) speeds up to get thru the 'allready' amber
light, leaving me there, out in the intersection, and not only that, it is very dangerous, I can imagine
many accidents have happened from 'just' that situation.

I think I'd like one of those ACME boxing glove things that can spring out of my left tail light to biff the moron who has to tailgate or ride my blind spot then race me the last hundred feet to the end of the passing lane right in the mouth....

*whew!* How's that for one breath.....

well, technically (and I do the same thing talloola, so please don't take it as a comment directed solely at you), you're not supposed to pull into the intersection to wait for an opening. Everyone does it, but, it's technically a traffic violation to do it that way. You're only supposed to proceed into the intersection when you know you can travel through it.

A few weeks/months ago I opined - totally tongue-in-cheek - on a similar thread, that brain capacity/intelligence is a function of the relation of weight of brain compared to total body-weight, thereby intelligence is reduced when a person becomes one with a 3,000+ lbs vehicle.

The humourless pseudo-intellectuals came out in full force.

Reading this, no doubt, they will come out again.

i'm sure you're right karrie, but yes, we all do it, and it really doesn't change anything concerning my situation because the other driver also was against the rules by surging ahead thru a light that was about to turn red.

If we all did what we are suppose to do, there would be more annoyance from driver
behind, who on many occasions can also get around the corner if he/she has a bit of a start. Sitting
back out of the intersection slows things down, we all have become very 'savvy' behind the wheel, and
can maneuver throughout the city more professionally, and we have found ways to make things move
more flowingly and efficiently when we all are on the same page, but unfortunately there are too
many pages for some, and many have a different book alltogether than the rest of us.

But the law also says, that when one is left in the middle of an intersection after
light changes, he/she has the right of way.

To hell with the law lol lol lol

There are two bad driving actions that make me wish I had a grenade launcher on my front bumper.
The most annoying/dangerous is the guy that comes from the left lane into the exit ramp right in front of me AFTER I am already in the exit lane. The other is anyone that gets into my safety zone for no reason.
This happens even when I am driving a semi which do not tend to stop or maneuver on a dime and leave much change.
