I read the opinion piece and that is exactly what it is. An opinion piece that cherry picks bits of information to do exactly what the title of this op states. In my opinion, if Trump was squeaky clean on this, he wouldn't be tripping all over his dick to discredit the obvious truth, the Russians meddled in the election. The United States election was infiltrated by Russian agents through the use of social media. That should be of the highest concern to anyone who lives in a country that likes to call itself free.
Sadly, the partisanship of the sitting government, Trump administration, is less interested in getting to the bottom of this because they won the election and are fearful that acknowledging it might bring an optic of illegitimacy. I was (am) not a fan of Hillary Clinton and think that the Democrats are also responsible for a Trump win because they were so arrogant to think that Clinton, with all her baggage, would still sweep the nation when voters took a hard look at Trump.
Silly them.
Despite the Russian meddling, the Democrat arrogance, and the fact that neither candidate should have been in the running for POTUS, the people voted based on the information they had. A friend of mine from Oklahoma said it best, "Looking at our options is like staring into a bucket with two pieces of shit and trying to decide which is the cleanest."
The election was in of itself, a catch 22. Here you have a man who says he's different, that he's going to drain the swamp. He preaches about cleaning up Washington, about MAGA, and for those who are disenfranchised, this piece of shit presented a less shitty option than the other piece of shit. But here's the deal. President Trump isn't any different, in fact he's adding water to said swamp. He is a megalomaniac, unbalanced, and clearly unqualified for the job. And what is he doing?
He is driving a wedges into NATO. "Hurray!" for Putin and the Russians who invaded the Ukraine and occupy Crimea. He's laying on the tariffs with Western trading partners and entering into a trade war with China. "Hurray!" for inflation and protectionism. President Trump operates like he's still on the apprentice, "Your fired!" so much so that he makes himself look foolish on a daily basis.
And of course there's that cloud of uncertainty that swirls around him. His son meeting (during the election) with the Russians to dig up dirt on Hillary. Doesn't that just smack of Watergate? In fact he's fired so many people, from Comey to Bannon that one would think that a revolving door should be installed at the white house to streamline the firings and make them more efficient.
I have never seen such an ignorant, obtuse, arrogant, idiotic, individual elevated to such a plateau of power. He is thin skinned, out of touch, and I believe more corrupt than Hillary Clinton. And that's saying a lot, because Hillary Clinton is no Mother Theresa herself.
I don't give a crap who started the investigation, or who people think started the ball rolling. An investigation is exactly what is needed to get to the bottom of this. Anyone with an inkling of common sense should be concerned. We live in very dangerous times. Our personal information is being mined and exploited by a foreign entity and if Mister Trump were an honest broker he would be pushing for this investigation and turning everything over to the Mueller Investigation without complaint.
His actions alone are suspect. His focus on Iran doesn't look like an attempt to change the channel on his faux pas last week, it is a blatant reality. Even his strongest supporters last week, like Newt Gingrich, were shaking their heads and condemning his reckless betrayal of the U.S. intelligence community. So they went into the war room and concocted a plan. First, they mulled over the transcripts of what the idiot said and tried to turn it into a misspeak, "why would they into why wouldn't they," then they decided to ramp up the B.S. with Iran to Divert! Divert! Divert!
I don't look at politics as right or left, black or white. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. But Mister Trump is an expert at sabotaging that assumption of innocense.
Finally, I don't get why any Canadian would be defending this man. He is no friend of Canada and would have readily stabbed Stephen Harper in the back if he was still the Prime Minister.
I will not be voting for Trudeau in the next election, whom I think is almost as stupid and arrogant as Trump, but for me its not an either or situation. I dislike both men and their policies.
What I don't get, is the full on blinders partisanship. I also don't understand how people can lap up the urine of this pig. Another billionaire who preaches to the unwashed masses while padding his pocketbook.
