This Pittsburg team is really something. They were fun and energetic and very talented all
year, and I thought they would win a couple of rounds of playoff hockey and then have to
wait till next year or even the year after to go for the cup.
But they have become stronger and stronger, and the one thing that happened this year
that really strengthened the team was Crosby's injury, as it opened the eyes of Malkin and
he stepped right into Sydney's place and took over and never looked back, and now he is
a premier player in the NHL, and if Syndney had not been injured, perhaps he wouldn't
have stepped up so soon, but he did, and now, with all the other talent on the team, they
have a great chance to win the cup, even against Detroit, if they happen to get there,
but Dallas is fighting back, and we'll have to wait and see.
How the goalies play will be a key factor in the finals, maybe whoever's goalie faulters, will
be the downfall of that team.

I agree totally....I'll take a hot goalie on a mediocre team over a hot team with a mediocre goalie every time.

Hard not to like Pittsburg's chances. Good for Mario....he still is part of the ownership group I assume.

Yes, this is great for him, as he put much of his own money into the team over the past
years, to save it, and now that is paying off, he deserves it.

I love the way Pittsburg (and washington) are raising the level of play over the entire NHL, as they have so much youth, speed and energy, and I see all the teams now are doing the same, and for us fans it is hockey at it's best, I love it.

Yeah the Pens have probably their best line up since Mario, Jagr, Kevin Stevens and Ron Francis back in 89/90 or was it 90/91? It's been a while.... they admitted near the begining of the playoffs that last year they knew they were not ready for the cup, but I think they've got it setup this time to go all the way.

Pretty sure they're gonna win with very few problems..... minus possible future injuries, etc.

Turco was on fire against the Ducks and Sharks...then they played the Wings.

Theodore was great against the Wild...then they played the Wings.

Also, if you look at recent history, the "hot goalie" theory takes a team far but doesn't win championships...the '03 Ducks (Giguere), the '04 Flames (Kiprusoff), and the '06 Oilers (Roloson) are all proof.
