Good posts, Sassylassie.

The proof that no one cares enough about Iraq
rising out of the ashes is not as important as who is
to blame for those ashes, despite that those ashes
have many hands in it, despite that no one is singularly
completely inarguably to blame for those ashes.

It's similar to the world wringing its hands over Dafur,
and using that problem as another situation of American
hypocrisy. Yet not one other nation will take the lead
on that matter.

It's similar to the wars of Yugoslavia. Not one nation
nor continent would take the lead on the slaughters
and massacres during that 9 year war.

It is more important to let Iraq struggle in an isolated matter, because it takes blood and guts to birth a new
nation.

The German company Siemens will provide the
Mother of All Generators (MOAG) but it will be the
American Marines that put it on 20 wheels dragging
it slowly through the desert.

No high sounding moralistic nation will shed its sons
and daughters, prefering instead its precious condescending moral superiority.

The UN had no guts to stick it out in Baghdad. Even
some thought the Americans and Brits deliberately
left them exposed, when not having any intelligence
that the Americans and Brits themselves are vulnerable
to the most undefendable attacks of suiciders.

This is mostly poetic nonsense JimMoyer, you're not building a nation you're stealing oil, Iraq was not a struggling nation before you destroyed it. You destroyed it for it's oil, there we're no WMDs and even if there we're it wasn't any of your bussiness. Your hateful nation will use the same pathetic bullshit to destroy Iran.
Your portrayal of heroic rescue of the Iraqi people is at worst gutless justification for brutal war of conquest and at best a delusional rationalization for state sanctioned industrial murder.
The UN has no standing forces, as for suicide attackers, well I will defend them, there is no difference between an attack helecopter
or a suicide bomber, when both are employed against targets and result in death of civilians, no difference at all.
YOU SAID
" No high sounding moralistic nation will shed its sons
and daughters, prefering instead its precious condescending moral superiority."

In forty years I've heard nonstop precious condescending moral superiority from the mouths of your corrupt politicians and individuals like you, who believe God has given you the entire planet, and that your sick brand of phony democracy,is real.
You should start thinking about democracy and freedom in your own country Jimmoyer, those things you cannot find in Iran.

Whether they are defending the Soviet Union or bleating for Saddam Hussein, liberals are always against America. They are either traitors or idiots, and on the matter of America's self-preservation, the difference is irrelevant.

I will not say this again, but California is the what?...6th largest econamy in the world, it's still bigger than britain, and were still richer than the richest state in the US

If Britain was a US state, it would be by far its biggest.

you cant project force, the brits have bogus aircraft carriers, and frances doesnt even work all the time.

Britain CAN project force. Britain and the US are the ONLY two countries in the world that can project their armed forces to anywhere in the world within 24 hours.

As for Britain's "bogus" aircraft carriers, just wait till around 2012 when our new aircraft carriers come into service. They are larger than France's Charles de Gaulle and will be the largest warships in Western Europe. They'll only be slightly smaller than America's Nimitz class.

if the brits could do anything or could done anything to stop it they would have. the reason they left hong kong is becuase the brits weerent powerful enough to keep it.
The reason we left Hong Kong was because we made a deal with China, in the 19th Century, that we'd hand it back in 1997.

contrary to what you believe the British Empire was grew on slavery and larceny, by ripping off everything from other countries and bringing it back home to Britian.

Yeah, so?

There were reasons the US didn't enter the war
Was it because they wanted to appease Hitler, and also because the Ford motor company was making money out of the Nazis whilst we were fighting (alone) against the Nazis?

Was that why?

RE: Describe the United S

Nice to see Blackleaf coming into bat with some sage-like words lol.

but really, I think what needs to be mentioned is time...time comes and it goes, the romans probably thought they had forever, so did we, and this is the general vibe I get from a few americans on this board.....from someone who really wishes time would stand still.....it wont, can you feel it?, can you see the asian nations becoming strongers?, I really can, India, China, Japan, it's happening, it's here, I honestly dont think the US has long left to hold the "world's most powerful" crown....it's slipping away GOOD ONE!!!!

I hope you are right Daz, the earlier the US is not a superpower the better it is going to be for the American people. I personally hope it happens in my lifetime, but I doubt it.

Perhaps, I think not, if the citizens of the United States of America see appropriate, at their next round of general elections, this could be brought about by voting in favour of a party with a more modest policy abroad?

I'm all for that too.

However the issue of nuclear proliferation is not
being handled by ANYBODY in the world these days.

China nurtures the festering problem in North Korea
who certainly will export nuclear weapon know how
not to just states, but to individuals.

And I don't see this problem getting cured even if
America adopts unilateral disarmament.

The bastards out there will rejoice at their new
playground with no monitors, or nice ones like
the Europeans provide.

Nuclear wepons are currently the buzzword.....but the truth is, I dont think anyone at the moment is currently mental enough to use them.....I personlly wish for a one world congress....it needs to be done, were' too small now to be thinking in such a segmented way, the planet really isnt that big anymore

Actually the movement toward separatism runs
parallel to the movement toward unity.

I don't subscribe to a world congress.

I do like the UN as it is currently constituted, with
all its hypocrisy, it does fullfill my theory for it.

The theory being that of CRITICAL MASS.

CRITICAL MASS has the eminent quality of grass roots,
which I like a lot better than TOP-DOWN management.

Unity only occurs when the spirit of the times gathers
strength to have one mind. It's organic. And it evolves
from the bottom up.

The UN is an empty vessel that provides a forum
for the CRITICAL MASS to assemble.

You mean to say then, jimmoyer, that if an issue or concern become so rampant in discussion and debate, and became important enough to truly warrant the involvement of the United Nations, that in such a situation the issue would have become so prominent that the United Nations would, in fact, be equipped to appropriately handle the problem?
