I think the media wants to report how "tough" the fed govt is when it is not. With immigration numbers so high, 4000 is small potatoes compared to 300,000 plus. The plus are all the foreign "students" in Canada who sign up for courses, quit, and then look for jobs. A fairly cheap way to get into Canada. Which keeps the unemployment rate high. Good for biz.
What to do about 76 male refugees ?...Keep them contained until after the winter games?

Let's use logic on this one instead of emotion and xenophobia.
Put them to work like they came here to do. If someone has the balls to ditch everything and risk their life to get here that person will work jhis ass off to stay here.
I don't know about you but I'd rather have someone like that here than a criminal that bought their way in.
Why don't we get rid of our immigration system completely then? Why would anyone legally immigrate to Canada if they know they can be accepted here under a bogus refugee claim?
Claimants like this make a mockery of our system.
How much does it cost to legally immigrate? Does someone working on an IMF platation or sweat shop make enough to immigrate?
This country was founded by refugees, poor and the scum that wasn't wanted in Europe and now else where.
Why should we change now?
These "refugees" apparently paid $45,000 each to get here. So, yeah they have enough money to immigrate here legally.
Petros, quit being obtuse. You bloody well know that there is legal channels to immigrate here. Paying human traffickers to get here is not the way it's done. Go through the proper channels like everyone else, or do you approve of a two tier system where cheaters go to the front of the line?

It's more then enough to get the wheels in motion and if they have family willing to sponsor them their chances are even better but that is besides the point. The fact is, if they cannot play by our rules they should be sent back to their country of origin. What sort of message does it send to legitimate immigrants when they see these fake refugees flaunt our rules in order to bypass the process?
Was it this way? The way the criminals get in without any background check?

I could care less what category they may or may not qualify under. They came here illegally, deportation is going to be the end result.
A one way ticket is about $2000.00 I gander. Finding them housing, teaching them english and finding them employment would greatly exceed that.
Then you don't know whether they are truly illegal or not then do you? Are you just going on hearsay?
How do you know they don't speak english? They can have jobs in minutes if they want. Same goes for any other bum that already lives here.
