Re: Democrats Cave. Shumer attempts to delflect blame...again

In his public explanation for the success of the vote in Congress. Simply put, the Democrats were not holding the winning hand. That's politics.

This gives 81 to 18 to support funding for another three weeks. The government now has three more weeks to hash things out.

Will they be successful in this endeavour? See you in three weeks.

Democrats are funding CHIP for six years and reopening the government without losing their shutdown leverage.

I'll be right here, wondering if another funding bill will be signed.

The Democrats lost this round. Negotiations for something more permanent have already kicked off. The media will continue to guess what's going on, and some of you will sit in front of your computers, frustrated.

That's politics.

The US will have to go through this again, unless the backroom crew fail.

How Democrats lost the shutdown
Analysis by Chris Cillizza, CNN Editor-at-large

If one accepts this journalist's opinion, it would seem that the Democrats were doomed from the start.

https://www.cnn.com/2018/01/22/politics/democratic-party-shutdown/index.html

The author's summation:

The Point: Schumer was losing support from his most vulnerable members. So, he cut bait. It's a reminder that for all of the talk about the anti-Trump sentiment among Democratic senators looking at running for president, being opposed to Trump at all times is not good politics for everyone in the Democratic caucus -- especially those 10 senators running in Trump country in November.
---

And the local lefties will ignore this CNN article because it doesn't blame the Trump administration or the Republicans generally.

And that won't work, Flossy.

Liberals livid after deal to end shutdown
Activist groups were angry at how the negotiations turned out, with some calling it '#SchumerSellout.'

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter
Liberal activists are furious with Democratic senators after most of them agreed to reopen the federal government without a firm path to shielding young immigrants from deportation.

As the third day of the shutdown dawned, liberal advocates and immigration groups fired off a joint statement blasting as “unacceptable” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s offer merely to hold a vote on immigration — with no promises for action from the House or White House — in exchange for Democratic votes to reopen the government. But three hours later, Democratic senators agreed to just those terms — sparking anger on the left.

The Republicans control the Senate, the Congress, the Executive and the Judiciary. Of course their blaming a Democrat for their inability to pass a simple budget.

The truth is with only 51 seats in Senate, for a budget bill, neither party has control so they will each blame the other.

So, the poor, pathetic GOP is weak, weak, weak! Perhaps,if they weren't a pack of wankers, they would have been able to negotiate a solution before it became a crisis. Start by losing the mean-spirited fascist decrees tacked on to their budget bill.

The freakin' Yanks keep doing things and they never learn.

With 51 seats one does need to negotiate a solution. Of course with 49 seats, the other side can be obstinate knowing they can say 'with other party controlling everything how come they can't get anything passed?' and that will fool 90% of the masses who don't take the time to figure out how their government works.

It is pretty dysfunctional. Almost as dysfunctional as a minority government.

It's a minority government that never goes away. In our Westminster system, if a budget doesn't pass, the government falls and it is then the problem is referred to the electorate for a solution.
