note - GW/CC means Global Warming / Climate Change
Assassinating a government minister who refuses to implement the will of the majority over "an issue of planet-wide catastrophe" - Is it a good use of one's life? Would you sacrifice your personal freedom to advance the cause of reducing our fossil fuels emissions?
Thats what the threatening letters says - that even if they get caught it will be "a good thing to do"

This website reports that Rona Ambrose, Environment Minister for Canada's Harper government, has recieved at least three separate death threats in the past week over her refusal to try to meet Kyoto targets. The would-be assassins say that they will "take a shot" at her if they get a chance. One of them claims to have a high-powered rifle and can hit a target at 200 meters.
Global warming is the only issue mentioned as being the source of their rage. They say they are all residents of BC, and they all say they will wait until Rona Ambrose comes to them, but they did not demand that she should not visit BC.... they "only want a shot at her" they say.
---- Karlin s Comment:
These threats come as BC's coast gets pounded by the heavy autumn rains that come from the warm Pacific air - the warmer the air the more moisture these annual systems will deliver. Future years will become worse and worse due to global warming. Water is what causes the damage in most severe weather incidents, and it will hit BC very hard in coming years.
I suspect the assassins are getting wet. Maybe its scaring them into making these threats as the damage mounts in BC. This is not "typical BC rain", althought the left coast does get seasonal rains, this is hitting Vancouver and the Fraser Valley as hard as Prince Rupert or Powell River [further north up the coast] usually gets - meaning that it is much worse then "typical BC weather".
I do want to say that Rona Ambrose is merely a pawn in the Harper government, and it is him, not her that is behind the "lets just give up 'cuz we cant do it" approach to reducing fossil fuels emissions. In fact, I bet Rona Ambrose believe global warming is real and that we need to reduce our fossil fuels emissions. However, she does have the job of Enviro ment Minsister, and she could have stepped down in the face of Harper's stance on Kyoto.
So - I want to ask you - [but I don't want to make a poll]
1] Would you take a shot? [is it worth it to encourage doing the right thing on GW/CC]
2] Is Ambrose the right target? '
