At age 87 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. Dave was right up there with WAC(Y) as far as intelligence and competence were concerned and probably a little more human. One of his main legacies would be establishing the A.L.R. and at the time removing auto insurance from an unscrupulous private sector, which sadly has deteriorate over the years. R.I.P. Dave- you done good!

P.S. the gov't run system has deteriorated.

Invented the ALR which is the best thing that ever happened to BC.

Every good thing about this province is because of the NDP.

That would be a bit of stretch. WAC for all his faults did accomplish many good things in B.C. I don't recall the Dippers having much to do with the completion of the Trans Canada Highway or the creation of the B.C. Ferry system or the advent of $1 a day for hospital beds or the Deas Island Tunnel or the up grading of the highway through the Fraser Canyon, or the original bridge across Okanagan Lake or the Coquihalla highway or Highway 5 from Kamloops to Jasper or the Salmo - Creston Highway......................should I go on? Come to think of it I'll take back those words "a bit of a stretch" and replace them with "pure unadulterated bull shit". :) :) :)

I admired the guy.

After 20 years of Social Credit rule, a little tweaking was in order and Dave accomplished a lot of it. He brought public employee wages up a little closer to that of the private sector- the first 10 years of my employment were pretty hungry, although no one can deny we had job security under W.A.C.

Who the f*ck is Dave Barrett may he Rest In Peace..

Dave is a legend. One of the cleverest and funniest politicians we ever had in B.C. Nothing was sadder than his defeat in 1975, but the big tycoons didn't like him. He put a stop to a lot of shit, like the use of arable land to fill the entrepreneurs' pockets.

May he RIP? You may want to find out in case he was was a child molester.......
..........

Not f**king likely!

Les Leyne: In three years as premier, Dave Barrett left huge impression on province

An anecdote about Dave that is etched in my mind.
