"We're getting close to putting it all together — really, really close," Carey said. "This game felt a lot better; we had a really good idea about what the ice is doing, and we felt confident. If we can ramp it up just a tiny bit more and get everyone a little more precise, we'll be good to go."

Team Canada sits at 2 and 2 after their loss to Japan earlier today and is in a five-way tie for sixth. Only the top six teams will advance. Carey's draw weight needs a lot of work - also better ice-reading. Brushing has been a bit of a problem at times.

Canada vs Finland about to get underway on TSN 1,2,3 and 4. Finland sits at 0 and 4 in the standings. Hopefully, this will not be the draw where they mount a big comeback.

We've just finished the 3rd end, Team Canada leads 2 -1 over the Fins. Ms Carey's draw weight is still a big problem for the team. She had one important shot slide right through the house. Finland, meanwhile is having problems of its own. Thus, the score. More good luck than management.

Canada had a chance to put this game away in the 6th end with a fairly routine take-out on the opponents rock to sit 4. Unfortunately, Carey's rock barely touched that of the Fins and we came away with but 1.

TSN was showing some highlights from Team Carey's win over Team Homan at the Scotties and I realize that the latter didn't so much win as the former lost. Homan had two chances to win it but blew 2 draws in the 10th and 11th ceding a steal and the win.

The good news is that Canada is in the lead 5 - 2 going into the 7th end.

Team Canada came out on top against Finland in a game that will not be remembered for its brilliant show of skill - by either team.

Crap!

.. and after we taught them how to play the game, too.

And they did it with a brand new skip - Eve is no longer with the team- who just got back to the tournie after taking care of some family related issue.

Team Canada vs Team USA just got underway. Canada sits at 3 and 3 whilst the US is at 4 and 3. Bad positions in the standings for both teams when we aren't even mid-way through the tournament.

Jenny Sinclair - skip of Team USA - played her best game of the tournie today and was in large part responsible for her team's 13 - 6 win over Team Canada who at one point had a two point lead on them. Her best shot was a take-out for 5 which is the highest score for one end so far in the tournie. The teams shook hands in the 8th when is was clear Canada didn't have a chance of coming back. Canada is now 3 and 4 and tied for 9th position in the standings.

Unless some sort of miracle occurs chances are even slimmer for Team Canada as they will face the top two teams and Sweden who are fast climber the ladder in the standings.

On another forum, some people are suggesting that Carey be replaced by Jill Officer which I think is a great suggestion - at this point things couldn't be worse and Jill just might be the person to turn the team's fortunes around. However, Carey's Dad is the coach and he will have to decide to put his daughter's feelings aside for the good of the team. Tough call there but this that's the way it is in high stakes curling and only the Olympics are bigger than the WWCC. Just do the right thing, Dan.

Having watched the Canadian Women's team fail to make the play-offs in the World Curling event, I am really counting on Koe and Co to get 'er done here at the Men's.

Team Canada vs Team Korea now underway on TSN 2, 3 and 4. GO TEAM CANADA, GO! :canada:

Canada held the Koreans to one in the first end and took three for themselves in the 2nd for 3 - 1 lead going into the 3rd.

The Koreans blank the 3rd taking the hammer into the 4th. Canada again held the Koreans to a single in the 4th.

Canada picks up a single in the extra and win it 6- 5. It was by no means smooth going for Canada.........but they hung in there and made the big shots when most needed. And speaking of Big Shots - BJ Neufeld was outstanding in his first ever World Championship. His double take-out in the 11th cleared the house for Kevin and the Koreans were out of luck.

Good first game, guys. Congratulations. And congrats to Team Korea - they made some amazing shots and pushed Canada often in the draw.

Team Canada improved to 5 - 0 with their win over Norway today and sit top of the rankings. Kevin's draw weight is still a problem but his hits score in the 90 percentile and the rest of the crew are all pulling their weight. Next up Germany. Go Canada, Go.
