I agree with Talloola on this issue.

I sometimes wonder if there isn't some fundamental flaw in the human psyche that no amount of "punishment" or "consequence" can influence. Until and if we ever find that answer, we are stuck with the alternative. As gruesomely terrible as the rape of any person can be, providing the opportunity to escape responsibility through mudering the victim isn't a step on the pathway to resolving this kind of atrocity.

I somewhat see the logic in this. My only caveat to this would be that they get no seperate holding areas in prison. They go in with the general population. For obvious reasons. Since they all find Jesus anyways when incarcerated, maybe he'll help em out.

A passionate response indeed! And I can understand your anger. There is a part of me that applauds your vehemence and seeks to revenge the brutality and inhumanity of this kind of behavior. I'm struck by the prudence of Talloola's suggestion however that if a person capable of such brutality is convinced that murdering their victim could allow them to escape responsibility they'd be less likely to leave a living victim. Now the balance (if one can entertain this concept...) between the impact of so despicable a crime on the victim left alive after such brutality as weighed against the untimely and criminal taking of a life where every potential and every possibility is extinguished....

At any rate, The Governor of Louisiana has vowed to work with his legislature to reword, or rework the law, so that it circumvents the Supreme (HA!) Court's ruling. Good on 'em , I say.
