they were informed last minute they would not be travelling by rail between the Quesnel to Jasper corridor due to the wildfires.
This is just sour grapes from some sedentary small town gits who know SFA about travel-ya pays yer money and ya takes yer chances; stupid flatlanders don't know that's the dullest part of the whole trip-(and Yes I've done the whole trip by both rail and road so I know what I'm talking about)

The fact is that they were free to try and use their cancellation policy at any time but since no part of the trip was cancelled they wouldn't have gotten a dime.

Oh I see how your (pathetic) mind works. Elderly unsophisticated folks who paid the money in good faith deserve to get screwed by the corporate sector. Good thing to know!

It's called Caveat Emptor somehow I'm not surprised you've never heard of it.

They were Not Screwed by Anyone but they don't know that-and neither do you.

I've been well aware of caveat emptor for over 50 years- it's just Latin for a warning about low lifes, but it's still reasonable to be able to expect to receive what you've paid for.

They did receive what they paid for-a tour of the Interior of BC and the Rockies-and if they read the fine print they'd see there's no guarantee it would all be by rail that's standard with all tours high end or not.

Meh, I'm not sure about that. It's one thing if it's something to do with neglect or whatever but a last minute change because of a natural event is just something you have to deal with sometimes. I don't think a tour or rail company should have to be on the hook for an "act of god".
On the flip side, the company behind The Rocky Mountaineer should have at least sent some kind of notice out to prospective passengers that because of the wildfires there could a risk of the trip being altered or something along those lines. I mean the fire could have been miles from the rail line when the train got underway but a shift in the wind is all it would take to change that.

Screwed by the corporate sector?

Why not sue the provincial gvts for not taking the necessary steps to prevent these forest fires?

Pretty sad idea to blame a company for a forest fire

Better yet... Sue the fire fighters for this couple missing the trip of a lifetime 'cause they didn't do their job.
Better yet, sue Trudeau who once again declined assistance from our American friends and neighbours, until it was too late. Despite one of them already having one of his water bombers stationed in BC.

Who blamed the company for the forest fires? They didn't provide what they accepted money for.

You stated that that corporate greed was the reason why they didn't refund any money... So why not expect the province or the firefighters to pay?... Ultimately, had they done their jobs, the trip of a lifetime would have been a go.

If you want to hold the company financially responsible for something outside their control, why not everyone else too?

I never thought the firefighters hadn't been doing their job. Don't you think the people arranging the tour should bear the responsibility?
