Hey Vic..I love the Ontario, sadly local!!! Feel the same.

Did you actually associate Ontario and Alberta???? Like that will ever be one voice ha!! pacifist Ontario will always look for ways not to piss off Quebec whereas Alberta has no problem saying it as it is...

But a agree whole heartedly..as much as the population levels change (alway lower in Quebec) there will be minor changes in ridings the the polical correctness of Canada will never allow for the reality of House of commons seat makeup.

Take it for which reason, to keep it for Canada? Yourselves or Quebec?
Themselves. I'm pretty sure the US would appreciate the Natives taking control of the Seaway, Quebec has been thumping its chest of it for years.

I know the Cree would love to take back their land under James Bay, I'm sure they'ld give a better deal on hydro, to the provinces then Quebec has been.

I'm having trouble figuring out the second line of your post CDNbear would you mind re-phrasing that for us?

I've been in favor of returning all lands to native Canadians for years that are the subject of any and all agreements signed by the Hudson's Bay Company or the then monarch of England. Our people deserve far more than the terrible complacency and disdain demonstrated for far too long by governments and the immigrant settlers who now call Canada their home.

Last month there was an article on the cbc website saying that the population of Alberta and BC combined is now greater than Quebec. Currently BC+Alberta = 64 seats in the house of commons and Quebec with 75. In a few years when they redraw the electoral map BC and Alberta will get more seats (although I bet still less than Quebec).

To me the above points out that Quebec's ability to make demands of the federal governemtn are numbered. Ontario + BC + Alberta makes for a majority right now, with more seats in the west the federal parties will have to be careful not to piss-off BC and Alberta in favour of Quebec (or vice versa). With a diminishing voice in the country it will soon be time for Quebec to put-up or shut-up on the separation issue.

What this tells me is that Canada will just become more and more complicated and difficult to govern from the center. A natural decentralization will occur whether you want it or not. I think we might eventually reach a breaking point that doesn't necessarily just involve Quebec. I can definitely see an internal Canadian crisis coming up for the next few years... But i'm sure it will be positive. Hopefully we will solve these issues and put it behind us once and for all. I am the first to admit that it would be a great thing for the country.

The decentralization of this country would (will) occur as long as Canadians think locally first and nationally second, unfortunately this is not a skill only honed by Quebec!!
