Sounds like something the private sector could find as efficient.

Yeah. They just disallow coverage to the chronically sick, charge the value of a house for a hospital stay and discontinue your treatment if they see diminishing chances .. all to generate the 35%margins that the shareholders demand.

Bingo, the same is happening with education.

Oh and it's not Mike's fault....move on.

It's those f@ckers at Queens park now...if you vote Liberal you're f@cked in the head.

I didn't say that it was Mike's fault. The only thing that I fault Mike for was selling off the cash cow 407 for a song. Not too bright ...

Try telling that to a con.

That whole transaction smells totally corrupt.

Liberals, Conservative, all are capable of cheating. The Liberals out-do the Conservatives about three to one but it's hard to ignore those A300 Airbuses flying in and out of Trenton.

It's done...move on.

Chretien invested in the company that bought the 407....smart thing that was.

...as I said ... corrupt beyond reconning ...

I wonder if Chretien owned a piece of Augusta-Westland?

They made $4 bil. without having to build one helicopter!

In the west a political party convention has nothing at all to do with leadership and everything to do with selecting an obedient slobbering stooge for Zionist masters.

Inshallah, and salami oh Amir of Dartmouth.

The next day, I had to go back. They do not, however, carry any information forward from visit to visit, once you have been discharged. I even had my barcode bracelet from the day before, still on. Guess what? An RN wasted another significant portion of her day in a really crowded emergency taking down the same basic information as the day before. They did not/could not read the bracelet from yesterday. Everytime you go through the door, you are a new file. My whole group from the day before came back, too.We compared notes and they all went through the same rigamarole.I'd calculate that typing in our names, addresses, etc.killed a half a man day of hospital time.

Our healthcare cards should have a chip on them that holds all of the basic information about "you", as a bank card does, rather than wasting highly trained resources duplicating mundane things.

When they came out with the new OHIP card I was told the reason for it was they could just swipe it and all info would be on the Bar Code and it would open up your file. But both the Bar Code and Mag Stripe are just to verify if the card is legit......

Card Statement

Responsibility as the holder of a Health Card

Magnetic Stripe

So health care providers can check that cards are valid

Organ Donor Code

Reflects organ and/or tissue donation wishes upon death

Bar Code

So health care providers can check that cards are valid

See pages 4 and 5......

It's bushyte. I have a recent style OHIP card and they still entered all my vitals, asked all the same questions ... expensive labour doing unnecessary clerical work.

I know exactly what you mean. I had minor surgery recently and I was given a complete question and answer session a day before the procedure. Then I was told to report to another section of the hospital where I was asked the same questions. After that I was sent to still a third area where ... Guess what? The same questions. I decided to make a game of it and kept track of the number of times I was asked for the same information. Total? 15 different interviews all asking for the same info. A huge waste of time and money for the health care system? You bet!

Some other poster mentioned privatised healthcare as being the answer. Instead of Triage nurses doing so much clerical work, you'd have $10.00/hr clerks doing triage ... probably using an I-Phone app.

My experience with private medicine is that wherever possible the service is padded as much as possible. If private health care was actually cheaper then the USA would have the cheapest and most efficient healthcare system in the world instead of the opposite. Another example is dentistry in which as many costs are loaded on to dental procedures as the dentist can get away with. I get my teeth cleaned every year. Just a few years ago it used to cost about $250 for my yearly checkup and teeth cleaning. The last time I went in it coast over $500 and my insurance covered only 80% of it.

Insurance must think it is worth it, if they are willing to pay 80% of it?

Yes that was my point. Particularly since you still had the bracelet on.

It does not offer your info pertaining to visits or your medical history. And while I think it should I was reading that 'privacy concerns' is the issue.....
