The Conservative Party of Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper has won the Canadian elections.

Harper had called Tuesday's elections early in hopes of getting his party a majority.

Instead, he and his party will again be obliged to rely on opposition support to pass budgets and legislation.

Nevertheless, the election was won for the Conservatives with an increased number of seats.

With his win in the election, Mr Harper has become the first major world leader to face voters since the financial crisis.

Voter turnout was about 59 percent, the lowest in Canadian history.

That’s good, the Conservatives will give more stable politics in Canada; however we American people are expecting JOHN McCAIN-SARAH PALIN such moderate Republican & Conservative low-tax small government to 2009 White House too. That’ll make Canada and U.S.A. a compatible “pair”. By ;) Midnight, 10-15-08, 02:55 PM We could do one of those reluctant marraige things, you know where Canada is all like, these are the ugliest people in the world can they do the dishes?

The Conservatives have more seats than the Bloc & NDP combined. The Liberals are pretty
much broke financially. The Liberals will be the last party to want an election any time soon,
and will do whatever it takes to keep the Conservatives in power (while loudly claiming that
they aren't like the last two years). This may be a Minority Government, but it might as well
be a Majority as the Liberals can't afford another election until their piggy bank is much heavier.
Watch and see...Oh yeah.... 58% voter turn-out is just disgusting.

Knowing the Federal Liberal Party's financial situation, and with Stephane Dion stuck on that
"Green Shift" platform, Steven Harper called the election, and as far as I'm concerned, he won.
This "Minority" Government will last longer than the last minority government 'cuz really, other
than Harper himself, nobody is going to bring it down, especially the Liberals.

In the history of Canadian governments, stranger things have happened.
