Improvements in energy efficiency. That could be through the National Building Code of Canada, or acceleration of the Model National Energy Code for Buildings and Model National Energy Code for Houses. Apparently Ontario already has one of the best building codes in North America with respect to energy efficiency. As a plus, these kinds of changes drive innovation from manufacturers.
Well, if something like this became a policy, we could expect the same or similar gains to those made in Germany through economies of scale, as the tech becomes more mainstream. Could you have afforded a system if the cost were 50% of the quote you received? Used to be that only the rich could afford a car. The times, they are a changin'.
