I am glad you cautioned me on that LW, I must make my opinion clear, not all Arab men are of the same mentality, but third world Arabic and Muslim countries are still killing women in public by throwing rocks at them for smiling at another man, the majorette would be chauvinistic to the point they would robe a woman from here civil liberties, and think it is normal, well it isn’t normal if anything it is angering and hate is born against the violators, and lets keep in mind that these hypocrite chauvinists do all the bad things to women that they don’t want done to them. I agree with you generalising is not a good thing but telling the truth is better, ¾ of them are bad bunch.
No one is saying 19 yr olds are not fit to be married. I think you are referring to my post but you have misunderstood me. I said that I work with many kids around that age and I know that they could not handle being married and I also said I was married at the age of 19 and had a child also before the age of 20. There may be lots of 19 yr olds out there who are in love and ready to be married but certainly none of the ones I know. I too have been married for a long time - 42 years in March. So even though we started young, it's worked. Not every day has been rosy but we've still made it work because we still want to be together. Yes - the idea of a 10 yr. old or even a 12 yr. old being married is repulsive.

Its not like there is some magical barrier that holds peoples cultures back. We didn't let Aparatheid South Africa off with "Well they are just stuck in the last century".
The culture is "Stuck" because they don't want to change it (or at least those with power want it to stay the same more than others wish to change it).
I personally don't believe in expecting less from people because they are from a different culture, culture is a choice in adults. Thats why people can change their culture and why cultures can change themselves. Cultures are not static institutions.
If I consider something wrong, I don't let imaginary lines in the dirt tell me its right (or vice versa)

Makes sense what you say, I mean, the guy was quoted as saying:
"A female who is 10 or 12 is marriageable and those who think she's too young are wrong and are being unfair to her,"

No pun intended but the thought of an adult having sex with a minor is nothing short of repugnant.
I agree that no child should be forced to marry and find the practice to be every bit as abhorrent as all else do. But did the cleric say that people should violate the law and force the girls to marry in violation of the law?
I don’t know if specifically he mentioned force, but it is on record that women who do not obey chauvinism they get executed by the control freaks they live with. That is a direct indictment on the mentality the cleric is possessing, not only him millions of idiots who hide behind the religion.
