Re: Cindy Sheehan ... More of Her Lunacy ... Pleads Not Guil
I know it is un-American and unpatriotic to have a memory, but as far back as I can recall, there have been picketers and demonstrators outside the White House for one reason or another: pro and con civil rights, pro and con nuke testing, pro and con Vietnam War, pro and con ERA, pro and con Iraq War I, pro and con Clinton Scandals 1 through 27. . . . then suddenly you need a permit to protest?
Doesn’t that kind of negate the concept of “protest” if you must get “permission?”
As far as I understood it, provided they were not obstructing traffic, did not defecate on the sidewalk, and refrained from mooning the tourists, they were left alone.
I cannot guarantee that some of the aforementioned protesters did not fill out a permit, but I am damn sure that they ALL did not fill out a permit.
For one thing, I am quite certain that most of the anti civil rights protesters were illiterate.
