Fine, call it art if you like.

I still fail to see any humor or hypocrisy in the church's reaction to it. Human worry is not funny. And regardless of what the church is built upon, regardless of past history, someone fearing for their safety is understandable, and far from humorous. Whether their case is justified or not, I hope it serves to illustrate for SONY the fact that the impact of such graphic violence needs to be considered, especially when being used in a way that depicts violence in someone's own home or place of work.

Karrie:

I don't see humour and hypocrisy; I see humour in the hypocrisy. The church makes itself as public as it can, and then when that public image is used in a way they don't like, they cry foul.

They are only mad about how they are shown; the proof is in the very fact they never spoke up about video games until now, at least not to my knowledge. They make no claim in the article to having a long history of opposing pistols in video games.

That is the humour in the hypocrisy.

Postscript: I do actually think I have made a convincing argument for the game existing within the realm of art. So, yeah, I will call it art.

If someone is stupid enough to equate shooting a bunch of Alien-Mutants and Nazi's in WWII england with an OK to go out and murder...

I don't think the choice of locales is going to be what sends the wacko over the top.

The Church is just throwing a hissy fit because they didn't get royalty money. Often historical locales try and sell the right to use their image in a game or movie (I know).

In this case the church didn't get its precious pieces of silver so its throwing a tantrum. If Sony had just paid them they would think its "showing kids the history all around them".
