My serious take on all of this?

I think a very drunk and very young Kavanaugh pulled a 'David Cop-a-Feel' on this girl. Does this give her the right to claim to be emotionally scarred for life? To bring it all up 36 years later? I dunno, it didn't happen to me.

I'll bet millions of girls from that era have a 'David Cop-a-Feel' moment from their past...and just moved on with their lives figuring "You have to kiss a few frogs before you find your Prince".

I don't know about millions, HH but I do know that I myself, my sisters and many of my girlfriends all had those types of moments when we were teenagers. All of us lived through them, learned our lessons and moved on. Not one of us that I know of, have suffered long term effects. Nor have we let it in anyway define who we are or how we live our lives.

I've been stating that Kavanaugh was 15 years old at the time of the alleged incident. He was 17...still not legally an adult though. Ford was 15 years old in 1982.

This morning, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, the first of at least three different women to come forward and say they experienced sexual misconduct at the hands of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee about her allegations. The process of Dr. Ford even getting to tell her ordeal was fraught, with Republicans claiming her story wasn’t credible and instead just an attempt by Democrats to obstruct a GOP Supreme Court pick. The result was inevitable: A tense hearing focused on scrutinizing some of the most traumatic moments in Dr. Ford’s life.


Even if the public does end up feeling like Dr. Ford is “credible enough” — an entirely different travesty where she needs to prove herself and yet Kavanaugh somehow doesn’t — the fact still remains that she had to go through emotional gymnastics to be seen that way. And therein lies a common experience of womanhood.

I read a story once from a writer who was attending a Yankee's baseball game.

A young man yelled out to the opposing team, "YOU SUCK!!" An older gentlemen seated near him got very angry...rose from his seat and said, "Watch your language in front of my wife!"

It was a generational thing. I don't doubt for a second that Ford believes she was assaulted 36 years ago. Sounds to me like she just let a drunken frat boy incident destroy the rest of her life. And the older Ford took it upon herself to right that ship nearly 4 decades later.

And I'm saying based on yesterday's testimonies, I don't believe Kavanaugh is fit for the highest court in the land. Ford's credibility was measured, air tight and totally believable. I didn't see a 50 something Professor of Psychology testifying yesterday...I saw a frightened little school girl in her appearance before that committee.

And if Kavanaugh was a real man, he too would have acknowledged this and showed more empathy towards Ford. He was there in that room 36 years ago...he was a very drunk 17 year old pre-adult who acted inappropriately...possibly made a one-off mistake...and he has to own that.

So you believe a 50 something woman acting like a school going child is believable , and that no physical or other collaborating evidence is enough to convict a person ?

This isn't a court of law. It's to decide whether or not Kavanaugh has the right moral and ethical stones to sit on that bench. I don't believe he does based on what I saw and heard from both of them yesterday.

If I were Kavanaugh, I would have said something like...

"I understand Dr. Ford has struggled with this incident for the better part of her life. But I am completely baffled by the notion that I had anything to do with this altercation. I have never sexually assaulted any woman at any time in my life."

A series of statements like that would have been more befitting of a Judge. But he chose the slash and burn option which clearly in the eyes of any reasonable citizen, made him appear smug, defiant, unhinged and not a good candidate...not having the right temperament for the highest court in the country.

And therein lays your problem. It's up to the accuser to prove their case, not the accused.

Let me ask you something Cliffy, have you ever been falsely accused of rape or worse? I know people that have and despite the fact they weren't found guilty, their lives and careers were destroyed. So, we must believe all women even though they have a history of using false rape accusations as a weapon.
Remember Roy Moore? Isn't it funny how all the accusations against him disappeared after he lost his election. Several Democrats even said they would block Trump's Supreme Court nomination no matter who it was before all this came out. The Dems are playing a game of obstruction and nothing more and Ford is a paid player in that game.
I wonder what was in the envelope that Anita Hill surreptitiously gave to Ford's lawyer after her testimony.

I found her credibility to be spot on. I suppose I'm just not that cynical a person.

But what I found more disturbing was Kavanaugh's reaction to the accusation before the committee.
