I'm not sure, I'll dig a little.

I need your opinion. Keeping with the vacuum theme, what do you think of the BC Ionas?

Getzlaff twisted an ankle and is on the one week injured list.

Hoping to Shock the CFL Universe | Saskatchewan Roughriders

Legitimate reason for not being in the game........thanks for this, petros. I'm still trying to figure out the BC vacuum thing.

Staying with the vacuum theme..............how about the Dyson Doobies............that suit the *****cats? Ya think? ;-)

I hope Kent reads these guys the riot act at half-time about penalties. Sheeet we could have another TD by now.

Oh that brought the crowd to their feet..........butter-fingers Holly. Sheesh.

Man this checker is worse than my Mum used to be.............it won't let me write p u s s y fps.

Geez Kent..............they seem to be doing a dandy job of running the ball ..............go with the flow guy.........chill out. In your wildest dreams you had no idea that your team would be sitting at 28 - 6 in the first half of the game.

107 yard interception return for TD.................Atta boy Norwood.

This can't be bad for our Riders, petros.... the top two teams in the West both lose to their opponents.

Man, this is the best Pick 'Em week I've had so far. 2 in a row.

Geez...........it is a darn good thing they can put points on the board cause they keep giving big yards away.

I think Zach has gone to every single receiver on the team tonight.

Well done Hamilton..............Best darn team in the entire league right now.

The Montreal Alouettes are in the news again today having named Anthony Calvillo as their QB coach. All the best to AC on his new position with the team.

MONTREAL - Antony Calvillo was named quarterbacks coach on Saturday as general manager Jim Popp tweaked his staff a day after stepping in for fired head coach Tom Higgins.

Calvillo, who retired after the 2013 season, had been the receivers coach for the first eight games of the season but Popp wanted the Canadian Football League's all-time passing leader to work directly with rookie Rakeem Cato to try to get the offence moving.

Calvillo will also coach from the sidelines, as he did in a 23-13 win in Vancouver on Thursday night after working the first seven games from the pressbox.

Turk Schonert had been the quarterbacks coach but will drop that function to concentrate strictly on his main job of offensive co-ordinator. Schonert will now work from the pressbox.

"I want to see the direct relation between (Calvillo) and Rakeem," said Popp. "I think they have a lot of similarities, especially in their background, and it gives Turk a better perspective in the pressbox where he can oversee everything and call the game from there.

"We'll see if that helps him a bit."

Schonert's play-calling and decisions have come under criticism this season with the 3-5 Alouettes ranked at or near the bottom of the nine-team league in several offensive statistics.

In another move, Andre Bolduc was promoted from offensive assistant to receivers coach.

"Plays still go directly from Turk to the quarterback," said Popp. "We'll probably have someone stand over his shoulder to look at coverages while he's concentrating on the play call."

The moves are aimed at turning around a season that has seen the Alouettes lose five games by a combined 15 points, mostly due to a sputtering attack.

The surprise firing of Higgins eight games into his second season as head coach came from owner Bob Wetenhall. Popp said the decision was made before the game against B.C. and that the win did not change Wetenhall's mind.

It was prompted by a second straight weak start to a season.

After a 1-7 start in 2014, Popp brought in Schonert and former CFL quarterback Jeff Garcia to help out rookie offensive co-ordinator Ryan Dinwiddie, who remains with the club as running backs coach. After handing Jonathan Crompton the starter's role, the Alouettes finished 9-9 and reached the East Division final.

But after starting this season 2-5, Wetenhall had seen enough and asked Popp to take over as head coach for the fourth time since 2001. Popp has previously finished off seasons at the bench after replacing the fired Rod Rust (2001) and Dan Hawkins (2013) as well as Don Matthews, who left due to an illness in 2006.

"I think Tom did a nice job," said Popp. "I had a good relationship with him, but this is a business of results.

"It's Bob's team and we're not getting the results he wants so he wanted to make a change. This is a talented team, but we've got to get the best out of them."

Popp said there were also issues on the team he'd have liked Higgins to handle better.

There was controversy over the benching of popular veteran defensive end John Bowman, who sent out tweets this week suggesting his days with the Alouettes were numbered. Popp said the benching stemmed from a glut of healthy linemen and the arrival of competent Canadian players on the line.

He said Bowman will not be traded or released.

"I expect him to play for this team this year," said Popp. "What game? I can't say because I don't know right now. But can he still play?

Absolutely."

Ottawa Redblacks are in Toronto today to try and redeem themselves after a humiliating loss (48 - 3) last week to the Stamps though I highly doubt the Argos have much if any sympathy for them and will be looking to improve their record to 6 and 2.

Game just underway. Don't know what to think of the Argo's unis - that glittery baby blue just doesn't do it for me.

In spite of the uniforms, I'm going with the Argos.

Ottawa called for off-side nullifying a fumble recovery for TD effectively taking 6 off the board.

Really, really slow start to the game. Just over 8 minutes left and finally a play that has the fans and my attention as Swayze Waters - newly returned to the team after being out with a ruptured achilles - punted the ball then was first downfield to tackle the Argos punt returner for no gain on the play. Normally the tackle would have resulted in a fifteen yard penalty to the Argos as the ball was in the air when Waters took the receiver down. I would say that Swayze is definitely fit for play.

6:22 on the clock in the first period, Jeremiah Johnson takes the ball in for a TD and Ottawa strikes first. 85 yard drive, Jeremiah had 77 of them.

Might as well save your best for the last. Toronto did nothing but struggle throughout most of the first period but they mustered their forces and found the end zone as the clock wound down to 0:00 - with no time left in the quarter Swayze put one through the posts for the point after and the game is tied at 7 - 7.

Smooth Hank......change your cadence and get 5 free yards on 1 and 10 when Argos get pulled off-side.

Wilder catches his own punt. Flag on the play. No yards Ottawa - negates what was a truly heads-up play by Ottawa's punter.

Lately, TSN has been making adjustments to its on-field announcement crew - which in my opinion was long overdue. Too bad they didn't carry all the way through and bring in an entirely new bunch.

Yesterday us at-home fans were treated to endless chats with or about the Hall of Fame inductees, their families, their lives, their careers, and of course, in-person interviews. Now this was all fine and good except for the fact that a good part of that time a football game was taking place. It got so bad that at one point when the game resumed after a commercial break we found the Riders in the red zone and Brett looking for a receiver - which was really confusing as prior to the break Calgary had intercepted Brett in the end zone. It took Cuthie several minutes to sort things out and let us know exactly what had happened while they were busy chatting up the inductees - no fault on those good men.

Today, it is Mattie and Gord who if not constantly trying to one up each other with esoteric football trivia otherwise engage in mind numbing comments.

Gord - "No one could throw a ball that far" (this after a 50+ yard kick from Wilder)
Mattie- "Really???"
Gord - "Well, you could...... of course."

Please TSN get some new blood in the announcers booth.

Score at half-time: 17 to 7 for the Argos.

Red Black & Deckers

You are good with these. I'm trying to watch the Jays while catching some of the RBD's and Argo's game, post on the rider forum, this topic and the Jays topic on this forum. What fun technology can be.

It needs to match the team name. There are 52 brand names to choose from.

Ah.............in that case............thinking cap back on.

Ottawa 24 - Toronto 17 early in the 4th. Uh, make that - game tied as TO just got another TD and Waters was good on the convert.

24 - 24

30 - 24 for Toronto with just over 2 minutes left in the 4th.

Meanwhile in Anaheim, the Jays just swept the Angels. Rock on Jays.

TO takes this one 30 to 24.

GO CATS, GO!!!!

It falls to Montreal to try and bring Hamilton's unbeaten streak at home to an end. Tough job for new/old HC Jim Popp considering how well the Cats have been playing at home and on the road.

Hamilton sits atop the Eastern Division tied with Toronto with a records of 6 wins and 2 losses whereas Montreal sits in the basement - their record is 3 and 5. The Cats are on a 5 game winning streak looking to make a six pack.

The Cats are retiring Angelo Mosca's number 68 tonight and the feisty old-timer has been wined and dined this week in Hamilton. Brian Williams called him a legend and that he most certainly is.

Game just getting underway.

Montreal strikes first on a 65-yard TD pass and run play. Brandon Rutley gets his first of the year. Bede sinks the convert and its 7 on the board for the Als.

Hamilton put 3 up on a Medlock FG. They are playing a rather undisciplined game in the first Q and to give Montreal credit they are up against a good defensive line - they put Zach on the turf once so far.

SJ's first catch of the night is a 35 yard pick-up on 2nd down.

Bede boots a 3 pointer through the uprights and Montreal leads 10 -3.

Zach finds Tasker in the end zone, Medlock is perfect on the convert and we are tied 10 apiece.

Rakeem Cato was injured on a play early in the 2nd and Tanner Marsh will be in to replace him. He's able to walk, gingerly as RB put it, off the field.

Hamilton mis-handles the return after Bede gets creamed on the punt - no flag - and Montreal recovers the ball.

TD for Tanner Marsh - his first crack at bat and he makes it over the goal line - Bede's convert is good and the Als once again take the lead 17 - 10 in the 2nd Q.

Zach gets sacked, coughs up the ball and Montreal recovers in Hamilton territory.

On 2nd and 3, Montreal coughs up the ball and Hamilton recovers. Play under review.

Yeah, ruling in our favor and Hamilton has a chance to get their poop together with no change in field position. HOLD onto the ball guys!

About time! Tanner Marsh is introduced to the turf at the Donut House.

The Cats managed to put 3 more points up before half-time ends with the score 17 - 14 for Montreal. The Als don't seem to be particularly bothered by the loss of Cato and Hamilton needs to tighten up and knuckle down more.

Montreal got another 3 points off a Bede FG just after the 3rd got underway. Hamilton can't stop the Al's offense and Zach was just sacked twice in a row and took the knee in the end zone to give up two more to Montreal. Hamilton is not having a good night and from the look on Kent's face as he headed to the dressing room at half-time, he was not going to be singing the team's praises.

Montrea 23 - Hamilton 13.

One of those and we tie the game, rockman. The Cats are not playing with much inspiration tonight - wonder if they were out partying heartily last night cause they sure don't look like the team that whomped the Esks. Still Zach can get us there in a heartbeat.............mind you that's pretty hard to do when you keep saying hello to the turf. 6 sacks tonight for the Als.

Back at ya. For real.

TD Cats!! Yahoo and the point after is good so we are tied up with a little over half a quarter to play. Cats can still pull this one off is they buckle down.

Gotta hand it to Popp and the Als they took the mighty Cats down tonight in spite of losing their starting QB. They were solid on offense and defense. Montreal wins by 3 points.
