No one suggested that they are immune to market forces, but the content is not primarily motivated by profit like it is with the private sector.

No you are wrong. Look up the meaning of profit. The drivil, no the puke that comes out of my CBC radio all through the day profits some
faction. And that's a fact. Look up market forces while your at it. I think you restrict your definitions to closely in this case. I believe it was yesterdays morning show did a special on drag queens, all while the world is burning and economies crashing and winter approaches. Someone profits by misdirecting the listeners.

Yes, this shows that it's not primarily about the market or profit.

That is the whole point about a public service like this.

It actually serves the interests of the people.

It should serve the people but it serves the special interest groups primarily, hundreds of hours devoted to schoolyard bullies and the LBGTQP cults and imaginary global warming.

Your man Harper has had lots of opportunity to change it. If it bothers you so much, complain to "the party". Your whining here is pretty pathetic.

The audience is there.

They just aren't watching because there is less market exposure due to budget cuts.
The plummeting viewer numbers was already occurring before the cuts went in.
The CBC’s latest report confirms that many programs on the main TV service, despite efforts to be more “popular,” have fallen to audience levels not much greater than many specialty channels.
That's not budget cuts, that's just a lack of interest.
Hell, Canadians (for some reason) preferred Duck Dynasty over the bulk of CBC's shows.
