Pour Omar Khadr
At 15 years of age Omar Khadr, a Canadian citizen was abandoned to a decade of abuse and torture in Guantanamo and denied fundamental justice in violation of Canadian law and the international conventions to which Canada is a signatory. Such an appalling miscarriage of justice is a disgrace to Canada and, until remedied, should cause us to question our humanity and respect for the rule of law.
The petition is opened to Canadian citizens only. Only the Parliamentary Clerk of Petitions will have access to your information which will not be made public.
Omar is appealing his Guantanamo Bay convictions to the Court of Military Commission Review in the U.S.; (Estimated costs for 2016: $100,000)
This litigation commences at the Guantanamo court and then onto several levels of the U.S. Federal Court. This legal battle, which has been going on for two years already, will be lengthy and complex.
