Chewy, this is where we veer, I think of it as one planet. Nobody has the right to claim any part of it! After all that would makes us gods wouldn't it?

Gods! No just foolish little people that think too much. I was taught something by an Elder at the school I work for, he said “we don’t own this land we borrow it from our grandchildren.”
I don’t think we own the land, I think we have borders. Sometimes there is a benefit to those sometimes is a hindrance.

The Yukon, you lucky dog! hey maybe if you started fishing again, you would still think about borders, but when fishing, they probally wouldn't cross your mind. Just you and the fish, in fact when you are out there its very hard to define what a border is. What dala lama book are your reading? I am pretty sure the dalma fishes, or if not he knows all about it :D

How to practice a meaningful life.

I do miss the fishing I think it’s more than just you and the fish, I once fished for 6 hours with no fly. I think sometimes it’s about just being there.

My rebuttal has always been from those in the US telling me to mind my own business it doesn’t concern my country has been to point out their countries lack of using that tactic themselves. As well as an allies we have a responsibility to let out friends know when they have a booger hanging out or spinach on their teeth. It’s our way of looking out for them, I’d expect the same from them.

My way has always been to tell them that if they don't want to be criticised to quit doing things that have an effect on those outside their borders.

Chewy,
you mentioned "elders" are you first nations if I may ask? Some of those elders are very wise 8) peapod likes the way they speak about the woods and the creatures that live there. Most surprising of all though is some can actually talk to fish and other critters to :D

Here is a something strange that just happened to me, I think I only took notice of it because of this board. I mentioned to the iranian grocery awhile back that he should put some tables outside his store so people in the neighbourhood could saunter over and have a coffee ( oh his is so bad!) and chit chat. I hope my starbucks never finds out. Well he put some tables out (the coffee still sucks!) Since its my first stop on my walkabout the neighbourhood. Well when I stopped by there awhile ago, sitting outside at a table was the iranian grocery and his brother, the japanese florist from Zen gardens, the filipino who owns the bicycle shop, the gay hairdresser that has his shop next to the iranian grocery. Well there they were all sitting together laughing their heads off about something. It was kind of a strange sight, I must have seen it before I just never noticed. All those cultures and different nationalities having a good time together. Hey! you guys talking about me? had such a good time, I missed starbucks!

This place should start something like a town hall or something, we have an american, a muslim, and plenty of christians no doubt, french people...maybe more...we could ask them questions about their culture, their religion. I think I could round up a buddhist to come to a meeting.

No I don't have the honor of being First Nations, I work in a school on a res. I love the fact we can have so many different views, that’s what I love about being in Canada too. BTW I think of myself as a Buddhist If that helps.

See you cannot judge someone by appearances. By your avatar I thought maybe you were a Sasquatch. Just kidding I saw star wars But you are a buddhist. Any particular sect? I do know these words Kon'nichi wa. So than you know the island I spoke of Kuper island. It has very bad karma.
