What I like is we don't need videos to tell us anything, we don't have to stand up and put
our hands over our heart and we don't have to rap ourselves in the flag every time an
event happens good or bad.
I am getting sick of mourners and hero seekers too we need and endless supply it seems.

This is not a militaristic nation and we have only ever gone to war to assist our allies. We have never bullied but we have spent our young men and now women standing up to the planet's bullies. In spite of the lack of connection to the military in Canada, our servicemen are generally well respected (even in Quebec, I can say from personal experience) and there is an understanding that they are our brothers/fathers/uncles/mothers/sisters/aunts and not some distant automatons. We have always formed "peoples" armies (not in the Communist sense! Stop that!) and rather than having an elite military or one composed of the poor and unemployable, we still recruit from the middle of our culture. They are us and in times of crisis, we are them.

The difference is when with American friends everyone feels the need
to participate in the go Canucks thing then there are millions of us who
don't give a damn. I still resent the Winter Olympics in Vancouver cause
I have to pay for the big companies to make money and hand the bill to
the average citizen. I personally don't care and didn't care if the world
came here on not. Since then all they've done is drive up house prices
Canadians don't feel the need to do that crap, oh when Harper was
around they did foster that but we are about to get back to normal hopefully
