That's pretty bad.

I always thought Randy was arrogant. But he's really showing it this year.

I'm not a Haley fan but I don't think the others are better than her - in fact I think she's better than them. She didn't deserve that.

I just watched Haley's second performance and yeah, it was amazing. That girl definitely has some fight in her! Love that about her!

Other than that I just watched how Gaga was with the others. What was she wearing? I'm so over Lady Gaga's costumes. Sorry Gaga, you were not "born this way", it probably took like three hours to prepare that particular look.

I also watched the recap at the end and saw that the others pretty much did what they've been doing for weeks and got tongue baths from the judges. I don't mind criticism actually. But when it's always the same one who receives the criticism, while the others are not doing better, then it doesn't make any sense.

I actually really like Gaga, and she had some sound advice, and she has a lot of talent, but the costumes, are driving me crazy. I watched her HBO special and the fake blood thing just drove me nuts. She doesn't need the schtick, and that's what it is at this point.

Randy's comments to the four.. Um, yeah Everyone but Haley was awesome. Like what even Randy Jackson?

Exactly, re: Gaga. I actually respect her more than most of the pop "artists" who are popular right now (I'm convinced that Britney actually doesn't even sing on her new album, it was recorded by a robot), but she doesn't need the schtick at all. Unfortunately, all I think about now when I see Gaga is that schtick, and it doesn't do her any favors.

I am obviously a few hours behind here on the west coast but the show just finished and my turn to chime in.

Round 1-
James- Way to ruin a great song. This is a major anthem for an entire generation and his version was quite boring and off key. Steve Perry was cringing I'm sure. I kept waiting for him to take it up to the top of his range and hit some pwer notes but, well, it was just flat.

Haley- I liked her performance. I could feel her attachment to the song even if her vocal slipped a couple of times. There was nothing wrong with the song she chose or the way she sang it yet she was totaly thrown under the bus by Randy and JLo. I realy didn't get their critique. This was supposed to be song that inspire the artists and it was obvious Haley is inspired by it.

Scotty- Ok, I may take some big flack for this but I gotta say it. Talk about trying to play on the mood of the country this week. If I was a producer of the show I would not have let him do it. 2 weeks ago sure but not tonight.I am left questioning if he is really inspired by the song or if it was just a ploy to garner votes. That said, I thought the performance was mediocre at best. The vocals were weak, not off key but just not strong.

Lauren- I am no Lauren fan but this was great. She seemed connected with the song and had a strong vocal that didn't miss a note. Hands down the round 1 winner.

Judges need to get it together and make a call. Who won this round asks Ryan...JLo didna't actually answer and Randy just tossed Haley to the wolves again. C'mon Randy get it together. My call would be, in order, Lauren, Hayley, Scotty, James based entirely on the performances.

Round 2-
Hayley- OMG this girl gives me goosebumps. What a great way to throw down to the judges. She hit every note, had some great intonation, just such a strong, powerful vocal. How anyone can think she is not a contender is beyond me.

Scotty- Mr Ham has returned. I wasn't sure if I was watching Idol or SNL. The vocal was ok and he had some moments while having fun with the crowd but a Scotty concert? I'm not buying any tickets and I'm giving away any free ones I get.

Lauren- This was a reminder of last week for me. I just didn't get the song choice or the vocal performance. All that great stuff from round 1 hit the ground hard with this act. Actually got up to make coffee half way through it was so blah.

James- Much better performance than the first. Vocals were a lot better and so was the show. He really seems to hit his stride with the hard rock genre, even if its not a hard rock song. Closed out the night on a strong note and that will be remembered.

Winner from round 2 - Hayley followed by James, Scotty and Lauren way behind.

Now Iv'e gone through all that I somehow think it will be the 2 girls in the bottom 2 tomorrow and after Randy and Jen lambasted her Haley may be going home. I sure hope I am wrong and the voters listen to Stephen (did I just say that) and keep her. She has improved consistantly throughout the show and has really come on strong the last 2 weeks. Scotty will be carried on the pedestal the judges put him on to the final I'm sure but the other spot is kinda wide open.

I really don't get the James love right now. I can see why Scotty and Lauren are getting praise.. but James... don't they hear his off notes??? Are they deaf?? What is it? LMAO
It's unbelievable that James doesn't get one piece of true criticism during competition :|. IMO, the pimping of James is the worst piece of junk in the show's 10 year history. He has had a famous rock musician accompanying him during his performance. He has been given pyrotechnics, a flaming piano, and a marching band etc. He has already had the pimp spot 4 times (Scotty have never had it.). They also brought out James's favorite wrestler, Hulk Hogan, on stage to bring extra attention to him. Do they honestly think James is going to be a successful rock artist?

Even though I like Haley, I didn't like her first performance at all. Randy and Jennifer would have been right to criticize it if they were at all consistent in their criticism. Their one-sided criticism of Haley and their giving passes to almost everyone else causes them to lose all credibility. Why do they even bother anymore? Every ****ing week they declare James the best song of the night way before hearing any of the other ones.

Haley has given the best performance of the night two weeks in a row now. "I Who Have Nothing" and "House of the Rising Sun" rocked the house. I might put them at the second and third best performances of the season. Instead of Jennifer telling Haley after the second song of the night that James is the guy to beat, they should be telling James, the well known front runner, that he's been shown up by Haley two weeks in a row now and needs to step up his game.

OK, so now my irreverent reviews.

James - "Don't Stop Believing" - if you don't want to make this look like a karaoke contest don't sing the most cliche karaoke song in the world. And at least try to sing it right. I like James but this was awful.

Haley - "Earth Song" - her worst of the season I think. Everything the judges said was true except they shouldn't have said it.

Scotty - "America **** Yeah" or whatever it's called - I find this song kinda offensive so I just won't bother with how he actually performed it. Scotty says he doesn't know the difference between Iraq and Iran. Shut up then, Scotty.

Lauren - "Anyway" - *yawn*

Haley - "I Who Have Nothing" - maybe her best performance ever. Should have, but didn't, shut Randy and Jennifer the **** up. Instead they almost took credit for it!

Scotty - "Young Blood" - see Lauren

Lauren - "Trouble" - I like it when singers sing lyrics that make sense. "I'm evil"? Lauren ain't foolin' me.

James - "Love Potion No. 9" - meh, better than the first song, but still meh.

LMAO! Laugh of the day.

I actually really like Gaga, and she had some sound advice, and she has a lot of talent, but the costumes, are driving me crazy. I watched her HBO special and the fake blood thing just drove me nuts. She doesn't need the schtick, and that's what it is at this point.

I'm not a fan of her music OR her schtick, though I enjoyed her mentoring. Mainly I liked that she didn't act superior- like some mentors (subtly) do. She was down to earth, nice, seemed to want to help. She was right about a lot of stuff. I don't think she gave any brilliant advice but she gave good, practical advice, like, "if you hold the mic like that people won't hear you." Probably the best kind.

So you guys didn't miss the mentors - but it seems someone did, because they're back. How do you feel about it now? Like? Not like? Don't care? Just curious.

I don't get why James doesn't get criticized - and I also don't get why Scotty doesn't. I didn't see Haley's first number but Corduroy and also MJ of MJs blog said it was not good. So if she needed to get criticized, fine - by any other people than these judges! - who have let some of the worst offenders go without criticism all season! She was treated bad compared to the others. Unless it's reverse pimping to try to get her votes. I don't know any more.

The worst performance of the night for me was Scotty's second one - though I missed Haley's and James's first ones. That was badly sung, dumb karaoke. His first performance - well, that's who he is. It's the music he likes and it's probably his world view. So - whatever. I don't think he's ever tried a risk in the whole competition. And - kind of a different topic, but his not using his guitar is baffling to me. Unless he sucks as a guitar player. I don't think a country artist playing guitar is really going to turn off any of his fans, so I don't get why he wouldn't play it, or wouldn't be allowed to. That confuses me a lot.

Haley - well, you all know I haven't gotten around to liking her singing yet. lol. I guess this is more just about personal taste in singers. But I threw some votes her way because fair is fair. Do not bus Haley, you crapfest of a show.

I honestly thought James was getting overpimped earlier in the season because it's a TV show, and he was entertaining, so they wanted to keep him around in order to hide the emptiness and mediocrity of "the best season of Idol EVAH!"

That may still be it. Maybe they think Lauren-Scotty-Haley as a Top 3 will not bring in the viewers. Or maybe they think James is awesome. In my opinion James could be awesome - with some experience and possibly some vocal coaching - but he is not currently all that-and-a-bag-of-chips, so they judges not telling it like it is smacks of bull****.

Yes, I agree. He could be awesome. He's definitely not there yet whatever JLo and Randy say.

James spent three years performing for the local theater community. And his former band Whatever Fits had a MySpace page and they released a CD. He has said that he always had some kind of project going. He has experience.

YAY! HALEY!!

It's funny, I had a feeling she would actually go through tonight. But I thought Lauren would be eliminated, not James. I'm glad that Haley gets to have her homecoming, after all she has endured from the judges!

So, will the two country kids actually make it in the finale or will Haley sneak through?

Other than that, the show tonight felt so long!!!

The duets were good, I have to give them that. Jacob was really making everything worse.

Lady Gaga. Meh.

Enrique. Eh.

Steven's video. ???

Jordin's song. Horrid. Terrible. Girl, you don't have to shake your booty and undress yourself to be a woman #justsaying

James's farewell song was both painful and emotional at the same time.

sooooooo happy!!!

Me too!

LOL, I'm stuck in purple now.

You think we'll be able to convince ross to vote for Haley again next week?

I did it! I put her through!!! lol

So it's James. I tried recording the show but I did something wrong and it didn't come out. Then I tried going to MJ's blog but I can't log in there. So I'm glad you guys are here. He hasn't grown or gotten better the past few weeks, he kind of had no arc.

Lady Gaga. Meh.

I watched that performance already. It was on her HBO special. Thanks for the re-run American Idol.

Enrique. Eh.

He looked like he'd been pulled through a hedge or something. Meh.

Steven's video. ???

What was that even??? Monkeys? What?

Jordin's song. Horrid. Terrible. Girl, you don't have to shake your booty and undress yourself to be a woman #justsaying

I was never a Jordin fan when she was on Idol, but I have liked her singles but that one is AWFUL. I Am Woman and I no likey.

You think we'll be able to convince ross to vote for Haley again next week?

Let's try... lol

I did it! I put her through!!! lol

Thanks Ross.. You are the BEST.

He had moments when he was really good, but I think he almost believed his own press, there were things that he needed to work on and the judges never calling him on them didn't help him at all. He was fun though. I'll miss that. But overall.. WHOOP THERE IT IS!

I did awesome in the pool this week. Straight to the almost top. ;)

I was glad to see James get the boot. He was too full of himself. Now it is a toss-up, but would prefer to see Haley take it. She has more talent than the other two.

Congrats on the pool!

Some people are calling James a shock boot (on MJ's where I was able to read a bit before I lost the page)...but I'm not shocked, so to me, he's not, I guess.

but I think he almost believed his own press, there were things that he needed to work on and the judges never calling him on them didn't help him at all.

I thought his speech about leaving it all on that stage (which I think he said twice) made me think he was believing his own press, or getting a bit of a star complex. Do other people not leave it all on that stage, as well?

Every year I guess there's someone who gets overpimped. None of them are perfect. NONE.

Looks like someone got a haircut.

Did Kris get rid of his sideburns? Or is it just the picture? Allison looks thin.

I was betting on James leaving because his performance just wasn't as good as the others, but I was still surprised that Haley squeaked through. (if she did squeak.. maybe she roared through)
