Oh, my! David and band (all of Neal/Andy/Monty/Kyle!) were doing a semi-acoustic show in Vegas at Pet-A-Palooza today. First show since August! Just watched/listened to it on Ustream. They played the usual favorites (I Did It For You, Mr. Sensitive, Heroes, Come Back To Me, Light On), but they also covered The Cars's Drive, which was so beautiful. Also, in his usual WTF!Cook ways, they did Adele's Rolling In The Deep (which is just an incredible song) and it sounded brilliant! Can't wait for a good video!! I'll post it here for sure!

Also, in a cute moment, David brought Andrew on stage with Dublin in his arms... well, he mainly wanted to bring the dog out, but Andrew was the one holding him!

Oh, and how could I forget! They also did a new song, called Paper Heart. Well, they had already done it at their last show in August, so we had already heard it before. It's still unclear whether it'll be on the album or not, but it's a really catchy song, so I hope it is! "Paper Heart" is even trending on twitter right now, that's both awesome and odd, LOL!

Welcome Corduroy!

Pia's boring but I would have liked to see her overcome that. She could have grown, and I think she will grow, but we won't be able to see that.

I think it may have been the show itself that was hindering Pia. She seemed to be so nervous from her post show interviews - it didn't really come across as nerves on stage.. but just as expressionless. With the proper songs given to her (please don't let her pick them all by herself just yet ;) ) and mainly just time and experience.. she's already got the buzz of the unjustly voted off... I think she could be amazing. Some day.

See! That's how you cover that song! And he even played the guitar while he sang it. That extra bit of authenticity that James doesn't have. I'm showing this to my girlfriends later :p

;) Drew really did do a great job on that. The other one I remember him being really good on was the Hippo song. LOL (AKA Hey Daddy) (your fave mentor Ross! I think they need them some Anne Murray on AI's judging table this year she'd whip them into shape post haste)

Ooo - full band? I missed David's stream, but heard he did Rolling in the Deep (gah!) and the new Paper Heart. Seems like he got a great response too. :) :) I'm excited to see the videos!!

Andrew and Dublin.. awwww

Does she think the female contestants have it harder because of the young girls voting:

"I'm sure ... I guess there are a lot of young girls who watch the show and vote, but I don't know.

This is a carry over from the bloggers and newspapers etc that were "outraged" that she was voted off. I mean I was surprised too, but from what everyone online said after her performance - we were all kind of bored. If the audience is bored.. out you go.

I don't really buy the teen girls and mom's voting for the cutest one theory anyway. Because, Stefano.. who is pretty cute. Where was he standing? Right beside Pia. If I could vote I wouldn't have voted for her. I think she has arguably the strongest voice, but still.. no votes from me. What she was singing wasn't current, or entertaining or connecting emotionally. I think it's something she can do. But she didn't prove that to the audience (me) yet.

Rolling in the Deep.. SO. GOOD. He'd better continue to do that. That's all I'm sayin....and THE CARS..

Are they trying to hide Paper Heart in case they take it off youtube? :) He sounds really good.

Yeah, I'm not sure if that particular person wanted to keep it off YouTube, but it's true that all the videos that were taken of Paper Heart in August have been taken down by 19/RCA.

I hope they continue doing the Adele song.... I'm not sure if they'll do it since this was a special acoustic show (even though the bass was crazy loud!) and usually, they like to go all out electric! We'll see when he does his benefit show for the Race For Hope in DC at the end of April. He's running in the race for the third year (and it'll mark the second year "anniversary" of his brother's passing) and I know a lot of fans will be participating too.

I'm already sick of the Pia stuff. The New York Daily News had her on the cover - I saw it at the grocery store today. The caption, in large letters, was "Idol Outrage!"

The media had already made up their minds that she was the one to beat - then when the voters proved them wrong, well - they don't like to be wrong.

RCAPromo were enthusiastic this afternoon on twitter:

Look who made the trip to Vegas? @thedavidcook's friend ... on Twitpic

Dublin is so cute though, it's hard to resist!

Look at this picture of David, Andrew and Dublin: David & Dublin | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

That's real love right there, LOL.

This vids from this user have pretty good audio:

YouTube - David Cook "Drive" The Cars/ Cover Las Vegas 4.9.11

YouTube - David Cook "Paper Heart" @Las Vegas 4.9.11

YouTube - David Cook "Rolling In The Deep" (Adele/Cover) Las Vegas 4.9.11

Gah, his voice plus the Adele song are... I have no words. *is ded*

So...let's see...I'm reading that Pia fans are petitioning the show to bring Pia back and asking Stefano to step down since he has no chance to win anyway. Hm. Seems to me he has a greater chance than her, since he's still on the show.

Also, the VIP m&g tix for Kris's LA appearance have sold out, so if you want to meet Kris it's too late. Does anybody know if the band is going to be there? Or at any of his upcoming shows? I thought I heard "yes" for this LA show. Or am I imagining it?

And Adam is on TV tonight - presenting an award. And don't forget to look for Kris on Friday at 9:30 on Nick's "Gigantic."

So I guess the world at large has voted Pia their new favorite thing? Lol. (it's funny to watch the buzz of idol return at top 9) Good luck Pia,and pick better songs please. Nice of TMZ to give you press...wonder why?

The petition reminds me of the Alex petition, which successfully got Alex onto the Dream show. To be honest I wish that had failed now. Alex is a talented kid, but he was so bratty and annoying on that show (typical teenage boy stuff) that I find it really hard to get interested in his music now. I just remember him being a brat. so yeah, not much about Stefano...just crappy thoughts about petitions. ;)

I think the LA show is full band, but that's total heresay. just rumours, probably the same ones you heard. also... Gigantic...I'm getting ready to cringe, lol.

The Pia thing kind of baffles me. I don't think she's better than the two remaining girls, yet if either of them had been eliminated no one would have shed a tear. There's something funny about someone not getting a lot of votes, then a lot of people being outraged about it. It's not like it was between two or three people. She came in last out of nine. Voters liked eight other people more. Whoever thinks her elimination was "unfair" doesn't understand that voting isn't unfair. It's the fairest thing there is. As for the judges, the media, the producers, the celebs - it's not up to them.

I was surprised Alex was eliminated, but then he cried a lot, and I thought that he couldn't have competed successfully - too immature. After I saw him on Something Pitchy, I thought he was immature and kind of cocky or rude. Simon Fuller gave him a nice opportunity. I kept hoping he'd smarten up. He seems like a needy kid who craves approval but can only act out to get attention. My two-bit analysis.

Just read a post on a certain blog that said they hoped Pia did better than the last two winners "which shouldn't be difficult" and I had to answer it. Even threw in No Boundaries being #11 on the Billboard Hot 100. Ha. I mean - there is no evidence Pia will do anything. She won't even have any Idol songs that chart, probably. She wasn't on long enough. Not saying she couldn't have a hit single, and for all I know she could be another Susan Boyle, but it will be hard to keep the hype going for her, as week after week of Idol rolls out, and she isn't on it, and isn't releasing music. But even if she does well I thought that to say it shouldn't be difficult for her to do better than Idol winners was, at least, ill advised.

The Pia media extravaganza baffles me too. I mean she has a great voice, but...she was still boring...hardly infalliable. They say idol voters vote for the pretty ones...they voted her out, it's the media that wants to vote her back in. Kinda funny actually. it will be interesting to see how many of them end up with record deals this year, and if their releases will cancel each other out. There's going to be a whole lot of Idol releases this year.

That's a good point too. There are still so many weeks left lots of time and performances to come.

And her voice isn't that great, imho.

They say idol voters vote for the pretty ones...they voted her out, it's the media that wants to vote her back in. Kinda funny actually.

People will say anything. (That's a good point, by the way.) The "people vote for the pretty ones" excuse doesn't work, in her case, so people have a million more.

They love to blame America. Some day, America is going to get pissed. lol

Several blogs and online things have tried to make the point that Idol is racist, this year, and have even suggested that Pia was the "most ethnic looking" girl (!) so she was eliminated before the two blondes. Please, stop the madness.

Since you have no sound, ross, here's what they had to say:

^That was a while ago, but I meant to thank you for letting me know about the contestants the idols chose, missaddicted. Oh, and weirdly, I got my sound back for about an hour, and I listened to some D. Cook - and some Kris - before it suddenly poofed again.

it's the media that wants to vote her back in.

So true. The way they run with this stuff, it's just - I don't know. It annoys me. They make any stupid thing into a cause celebre. Obviously, nobody cares - people were too bored or disinterested to vote for her - but the media will force everyone to pay attention. Doesn't matter what the voters thought - Randy and JLo and Steven - and Tom Hanks - were shocked, that's all the media cares about. Now we get all this stuff. Do you care?

The only other thing I want to say is that even though Idol has been creating a lot of buzz this season, the show strikes me as kind of a mess, overall. It just seems like a free-for all. I don't know why I have that impression.

Yeah, the Pia thing kind of baffles me as well. Good for her... I guess.

David is rocking a pretty interesting look at the Scream 4 premiere... David is not really a "red-carpet" type of guy, it really must be closer to album release time, LOL. "Come on David, go to the Scream 4 premiere, go get you picture taken."

David cooke! #AxeScream4 on Twitpic

Oh, and it seems he took Andrew as a date. Hopefully, one day he'll feel comfortable bringing a girl to these events, without the fandom going crazy... I thought it was hilarious that at Carrie's wedding last summer, he took Monty (bass player... and old friend!) as his "date".

It's too bad he had to sit through Scream 4. The things they have to do for publicity. I could hardly sit through Scream 1.

So do you think he doesn't bring a girl because of his fandom? Does he have a girlfriend? He probably wants to keep it a secret, and I can't blame him.
