Oh, I don't dislike Lee. I guess I just lost all interest about him, so I just don't listen to his music, watch videos, read interviews, etc.

Voted! Kris is behind though. The Archies are strong!

The Archie fanbase is incredible.

What I think is strange is that Kris's AWM has already had to go up against an Archie single, in one of these challenges (on a different station) - but a different single. Is this one the second or third single from Archie's new CD? He beat Kris in that other challenge, with that other single, but it didn't help much.

After what we were talking about, I just went back and read page 3 of this thread - amazing how many predictions we made that came true. I remember that I was trying to be nice, and fair, at the time, and I even remember overpraising some people I really wasn't sure about. That era is obviously over! lol.

Anyhow, you should look at it, it's interesting. Pgs 2, 3, and 4, I guess.

So how did you like that cover? I thought it was a very good cover. Of course, he copies Kris a little too much! But - excellent.

Yeah, I thought it was really good too.

Especially since you're usually able to pick the winner from the Top 100 within the first few weeks!

This is so true! You've got a good track record. I'm always a little late to the spoilers. I hate to really like someone and then never hear from them again if they don't make it through. Plus the show itself provides a set of circumstances that is like a little pressure cooker. You never know who will be able to take the demands of everything and still put on a great performance. (although, missaddicted you seem to know.. lol) I loved Jason Castro, but he just didn't deal with the situation well you could see him get flustered.

Kris snuck up on me season 8, and seems unwilling to let me go. LOL He went from someone I barely remembered to someone I can't forget. And it kind of went in the opposite direction with Danny - he was my early fave and now I just have absolutely no interest in his music. Although I still think he has a really good voice, it's just not something I'm going to listen to.

I've always been kind of meh on Lee. Dear Annabelle. Still good.

oh that poll. AAARGH! The Archies are amazing. I bow down to their voting. I'm kinda meh about voting too. Good thing Kris wasn't relying on me to help him win. I voted in the poll though. A lot. Didn't help.

I'll have to go read back to the early days on page 3. :)

I voted in that poll just now (I'm home sick with a cold). I voted a lot, but I don't really have the patience. I was pushing Kris ahead a bit, and then the Archie fans started pushing him back down again.

LLWD is #26 and WWFM #27 on this station's year-end poll. Gallery - Top 93 Of 2010 ...And if you click on the link under Kris's picture, you can find a lot of pics of Kris and Allison from the station's concert. The #1 song was In My Head by Jason Derulo.

Didn't Adam write that one with his friend Allison? (it's not actually one I love from his album - but that's great for them!)

I guess humor travels pretty well:

farofe Kris Allen: "One girl past out, two girls past out, my job is to make three girls pass out." about 3 hours ago via web from Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro

Singapore strangeness:

MI_nzhi @ddandelions If both songs didn't make it to No.1 I wouldn't be complaining now. @Radio_913needs to give Kris Allen fans an explanation! about 3 hours ago via TweetDeck in reply to ddandelions

MI_nzhi @ddandelions Still this is unfair. So is @Radio_913 scorning Kris Allen now? Why should we fans support the radio station any longer? about 3 hours ago via TweetDeck in reply to ddandelions

MI_nzhi @Radio_913 Kris Allen had 2 No.1 hits (Live Like We're Dying / The Truth) on the countdown and yet did not make the Top 100. What is this?

Other Singapore...Singaporeans? Singaporizens? Tweeted that LLWD was #56 on the Top 100...though possible a different station. (Not that I care...)

Merci :)

Looks like Jesse Cottam is gonna be working out in 2011. yfrog Fullsize - xdnq.jpg Wonder what the lighter is for? The trainer probably took it away from them.

I forgot to include the caption. Here it is. Yfrog Photo : yfrog.com/h8xdnqj - Shared by JesseBlueEyes

Live Like We're Dying was #7 on WPLJ's (New York City) Top 50 of 2010. 95.5 PLJ - New York Radio - Today's Best Music The order of songs above it was: 1 Hey Soul Sister – Train. 2 Halfway Gone – Lifehouse. 3 Bad Romance – Lady Gaga. 4 Need You Now – Lady Antebellum. 5 Life After You – Daughtry. 6 Breakeven – The Script. 7 Live Like We’re Dying – Kris Allen.

By the way, last week I saw a tweet mentioning this: Lakefront Jazz & Blues Festival | Facebook

Kris's version of The Christmas Song (from the Bonnie Hunt show) was included by this Jazz-Blues festival's website as one of their selected Christmas songs. "American Idol winner Kris Allen showing he's not 'just' a 'pop star'...:)"

Of WPLJ's top 7 the only one Kris didn't work with was Lady Gaga.. and Adam worked with her. We give Sony/Jive a lot of grief, but surely working with all the top acts in your year past Idol says something doesn't it? :)

That's awesome.

Also. Rock Sauce.

OMG - there's a goodbye video from Idolotry's video editor Jason (not gonna lie.. kinda brought a tear to my eye)

Good point, SleepinIn. That never would have occurred to me. (And he also worked with #9 - Maroon 5.)

Thanks for bringing that over. I didn't get a lot of it, to be honest - the references, I mean (and some of the people). Did you? But the music got to me. (Slezak wasn't in it, much, actually.) Wonder why he's leaving? Any idea? EW seems like a pretty important gig.

Did you read the thing on MJ's about the band being hidden this season? I was surprised, when I read the comments, to see that some people would prefer the singers perform to a track. And some that said they "didn't care one way or the other." I honestly didn't think anyone would prefer hearing the idols sing to a track. Or wouldn't care one way or the other.

Yeah, the "hidden band" thing pissed me off, personally. It's a stupid idea.

Slezak is leaving to be a collaborator on a new website which will be online in a few days: TVLine.com. Michael Ausiello is also going there (he's a respected TV columnist who worked for TV Guide and for EW) as are some other important columnists I believe (one is Matt Mitovitch who was also working for TV Guide, I think). I think they wanted to start their own website about television. Slezak has a lot of fans and so does Ausiello (more than a million followers on twitter!!), so I think it could be cool. I'll follow them to their new website.

Ausiello on twitter: Twitter

The goodbye video was from Jason Averett, the editor, who's also leaving EW. So he's saying goodbye to all the internet shows he was doing for EW.

This doesn't surprise me that much because there is a whole contingent of Idol fans that seem to think that the first seasons were the height of musical purity and it's all downhill from there. I however am sitting firmly on the other side of that fence. There were people I liked during most seasons, but for me when David Cook and the season 7 peeps were allowed to play their instruments, and sort of compete with all of their abilities at their disposal .. that's when I got REALLY interested.

It still mystifies me that there are people out there that think allowing instruments was a bad thing. Or that live music.. is a bad thing.. LOL - I don't get it. But I'm not surprised.. I do kinda wonder if they're actually that interested in music though.

And I'd follow Ausiello and Sleazak too. I wonder what the website from their new project will be like?

There's something that is preventing me from copying and pasting your comments at the moment, so I'll just have to answer in a more random way.

It seems that Idol is becoming less about singing and music, and more about production, as well as about reality TV tricks, gimmicks, and so forth. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I never saw the first three or four seasons of AI, but I did see CI Season 2, that used a track. I know some of the singers from that season have talked about how they disliked singing to a track. Obviously your accompaniment should follow you, when you're singing - you shouldn't have to follow it.

I do kinda wonder if they're actually interested in music, though.

I wonder the same thing. Maybe that's why some of them talk about nothing but numbers. I do think for a lot of people writing on boards about Idol, enjoyment of music doesn't seem to be the main thing behind their interest. I also don't get the whole "singing without instruments is purity" thing. Because unless people are singing a capella, someone is accompanying them.

Myself, I never liked American Idol until the recent seasons. To me, it wasn't really listenable music. It was very contrived - the music, and the show - and I think I needed someone to cut though all that in order for me to like it. To me it's a pleasure to see a performer connect to the music in such a way that the performer and music come together and make the trappings around them superfluous, even ridiculous. Because they transcend this stuff, and make honest, real music that is not about American Idol, the TV show, at all.

Though many have been impressed by the way some idols have used stagecraft to enhance their performances, this is the anithesis of what impresses me. What impresses me is when you can connect completely, as a singer and musician, without having to resort to cheap theatrical effects to dress up your performance.

Thanks for the info about Slezak. I still didn't get what was going on in a lot of that video - it was either a lot of inside joking or else I hadn't seen enough of the Idolatry stuff to get what they were referring to.

I'll definitly watch them on the new website.

It's exactly the same thing for me. I had never watched AI before season 7, when they introduced the instruments, and I started to watch it only because I had enjoyed season 5 of CI so much because of the possibility for the contestants to perform with instruments. I'm interested in musicians. I do think that someone who doesn't play an instrument can be considered a musician, but it does take a lot to impress me these days. We'll see, but I don't have much hope for the next season.

It's because it wasn't only about Idolatry. Jason Averett was making lots of videos for EW. They had Idolatry, but also Ausiello TV, a show about Lost and a show about Survivor. And maybe some others. So there is stuff from all those shows in the video.
