The Truth is unfortunately this would be happening even if Idol wasn't involved at all. If there is a major label involved they want a say in what you do. They don't give you their money for nothing.

Yes, that is The Truth. (Hm. Why'd you capitalize that ? Very Freudian).

Really I think that's one of Allison's problems, and it's not necessarily something that Jive could do anything about just yet. IMO, She's just young. She hasn't come into her full potential yet. She has to know who she is herself, Jive and other record companies - they're all the same in that respect - will try to push for what the flavour of the moment is. Allison has to know where to bend and adapt and where she has to stand her ground. I just think she's not ready for that yet. I liked her album, but I didn't get "Allison" from it. Kris's album was Kris, and Adam's for me was Adam, but Allison's wasn't her IMO.

On May 6, 2009, Iraheta was eliminated from the competition in 4th place. Slash declared that "Allison didn't deserve to be voted off so soon." Similarly, American Idol music director Rickey Minor was "absolutely shocked" at her departure. (-- Wikipedia)

I think some people felt she could be another Daughtry-like fourth-place finisher. Honestly, it was not a shock boot for me, though it was Rickey Minor, I guess.

Basically I agree with you SleepinIn. The only thing I wonder is, when people say Allison is too young to know who she is musically - will she get another chance, once she finds out? I guess people grow at different rates - I'm sure Adam was far different at age 18 than he is now, in terms of his performance style and stage persona. For example. Who wouldn't expect him to know who he is at 28? But plenty of people do know who they are at 18, so it's too bad she doesn't.

Okay, I went back to see what I had to say when Allison went home on Idol.

So this is it.

SQUEEE! *happy dance* (kinda sorry that Allison is gone but I think she'll be even better given time to grow into her talent)

I was way less chatty back in the day. LOL But I think my sentiment remains the same.

And that was a happy dance that Kris was safe, not a happy dance that Allison went home.

ETA: I couldn't get far enough back, in the thread. But I did find this comment of mine, at the time of the Idols concert:

Kris will be great with his own band around him!

You mentioned shorter posts in those days. I kind of enjoyed how the forum didn't keep adding one's new post to one's previous post, as happens now. It seemed to make it more about separate thoughts - now something you write an hour later is put on the end of your original post.

This forum has changed, right? LOL, I was all confused at first.

Okay, I'll take this as a sign that Kris WILL make his way to Montréal one day: Hanson will be here on November 18! They haven't been here in ten years and today, they announced this show in Montréal, yay!

Do you see something to the right of the red exclamation point? (On your own post.) Actually, it's not a check-mark. It's a yellow pencil, I think. It just looked like a check-mark to me.

Oh, okay. :)

Nope I just have three symbols. a thumbs up a thumbs down and a red exclamation mark. Maybe my settings need adjusting or something. Or maybe I just don't need editing.. I'm perfect. LOL ;)

ETA: Dang it! Clearly not perfect - I now have the pencil. LOL

Crystal is engaged? Girl works fast.. it's not like she's been busy or anything.. holy crap.

Debra's interview was good - she's never gotten the press in AI like she did in CI. I like seeing her get credit. She's also not shy about asking for credit. LOL Remember when they had her sing on CI? I loved that.

I can't say that song made a huge impression on me. It's okay. It's not something I'd buy I don't think. Which is sometimes how I judge music. Will I fork over a $1.29 it? Nope.

You guys know I'm not a big Lee fan, so forgive me if I give my opinion based on only 3/4 of the song, because I didn't make it to the end. Boring, generic song, and he didn't sound good. Thank you. That is all. *bows*

I fear Lee will be huge, precisely because he does boring, generic songs, and he's like a slug. Why women go for this type of musician, I don't know, but I believe they do. I think I read he sat on that stool for the whole concert. Not exceedingly dynamic.

To me, his original music is like what a teenageer would write in his head while working in a gas station, but for that reason he will probably be popular, as well. He's simple. Nothing he does seems challenging, interesting, or fascinating. That will probably work for him, also. He's so easy to plug into a type of music, a sound, and an attitude that already exists, that I think he will succeed without even trying too hard.

I was going to a party this afternoon/night, but I had a sinus infection all last week (or so the doc informed me, yesterday) and I don't feel great, and am on antibiotics, so here I sit, if anyone wants to join me. On the forum, that is.

ETA: Kris got to lead the crowd in the hog call this afternoon at the Arkansas-Alabama game - but it was during a commercial. (!) Dang it.

*cough* *choke* LOL - tell us how you really feel Ross. LOL

I think it's too soon to judge Lee on his music post-idol. So far nothing has jumped out at me, but that doesn't mean that something won't. Annabelle's so pretty I want something like that. But, I can't really see RCA releasing something like that as a single for him since it's more folk-y.

I am sitting here trying to write a report. Um, yeah, not going so well. I have to re-install software to do it. Not happy.

I watched a bit of the game.. like 5 seconds really. SRS BNS. I bet Kris is loving every second.
