The Truth is unfortunately this would be happening even if Idol wasn't involved at all. If there is a major label involved they want a say in what you do. They don't give you their money for nothing.
Yes, that is The Truth. (Hm. Why'd you capitalize that ? Very Freudian).
Really I think that's one of Allison's problems, and it's not necessarily something that Jive could do anything about just yet. IMO, She's just young. She hasn't come into her full potential yet. She has to know who she is herself, Jive and other record companies - they're all the same in that respect - will try to push for what the flavour of the moment is. Allison has to know where to bend and adapt and where she has to stand her ground. I just think she's not ready for that yet. I liked her album, but I didn't get "Allison" from it. Kris's album was Kris, and Adam's for me was Adam, but Allison's wasn't her IMO.
On May 6, 2009, Iraheta was eliminated from the competition in 4th place. Slash declared that "Allison didn't deserve to be voted off so soon." Similarly, American Idol music director Rickey Minor was "absolutely shocked" at her departure. (-- Wikipedia)
I think some people felt she could be another Daughtry-like fourth-place finisher. Honestly, it was not a shock boot for me, though it was Rickey Minor, I guess.
Basically I agree with you SleepinIn. The only thing I wonder is, when people say Allison is too young to know who she is musically - will she get another chance, once she finds out? I guess people grow at different rates - I'm sure Adam was far different at age 18 than he is now, in terms of his performance style and stage persona. For example. Who wouldn't expect him to know who he is at 28? But plenty of people do know who they are at 18, so it's too bad she doesn't.
