Somebody on TI today said a live concert EP would be better than an acoustic EP. I think I have to agree!

I think Kris is right, though - he wants to move on to some new songs. You know he's been performing some of these songs almost daily for almost a year. Can you believe it?

Kris is going to be opening for Lifehouse at the Orpheum in Boston in October.

YES! Totally agree with that. Live concert EP would be awesome. Next interview someone suggest that to Kris. They could just record right from the soundboard. I'd be in for that. No studio necessary, hell I'm listening to youtubes sound recordings on my ipod that's gotta sound better. That Anthology youtube of PA was awesome.

I would like a live EP that included some banter.

So there are going to be 26 dates with Lifehouse.

That's great - but I guess it also means no headlining dates for Kris during that time period - right?

oh, yay. Adam's second remix EP is out. This makes me so jealous, lol. (EP ENVY it's not pretty)

Probably not to the extent that he did this summer. If there are dates free though, who knows? 26 dates will give them a lot of time to get comfortable with each other though. So there might be different awesome stuff. And if they're not running hither and yon switching tours, they might have the time to do some writing... although you know Kris isn't going to rush the 2nd album out. I anticipate longer than spring. Maybe Spring 2012. LOL

A live EP would be awesome! It probably won't happen though. Heh.

So, still no Canada dates with Lifehouse? I'm really beginning to think he does want to avoid us!

The interview was interesting. No love for BWCU? Boo, I still love that song. I had almost forgotten about Let It Rain though, oops! Haven't listened to it in a while.

If Kris takes as much time as Cook to make his second album, a live EP would be great, at least to occupy the fans while the recording happens. The Cook fandom exploded today over something a journalist said (I don't even know what, and didn't really want to find out) and went into a twitter war with him or whatever. Some restless fans really need something to chew while David is holed up in the studio (or holed up playing video games with his bro!). At least, if they listened to some other music or something, but some seem to have David as their only center of interest. Oh well.

Let it Rain was a good song for me but not very interesting. Like he needed more time with it for something to germanate.

I loved, loved, loved, the acoustic BWCU that Kris and Andrew did at the Grammy's but I can see why they pulled it especially since they're doing shorter sets.

And I love how Kris is unapologetic about pulling songs that he's not feeling though. "Sorry. We have better songs" Too bad if you like it. LOL I guess we'll never get From the Ashes. :)

Well, BWCU is a better song than TT and yet, they still do TT live.

Oh, yeah, TT is the single. Bleh.

I'm still mourning From the Ashes. You know, as much as I love all of his covers (except Don't Look Back In Anger), I find myself wishing he would retire some of the oldies sometimes, like MITM, as beautiful as it is, to do some more of his own songs. Not retire all the covers, maybe do one or two less covers and one or two more of his songs. I feel his songs are strong enough on their own.

Funny, I never noticed that he stopped doing BWCU. I was surprised when it was mentioned. I forgot all about it. I think it's a good song. Maybe it's a little too middle of the road. Not very exciting or dynamic. The Truth is much more dynamic, in my opinion, more emotional - he performs it more emotionally.

Hee! How do you really feel? :)

I wish he'd do From the Ashes too, and I do agree I'd like him to focus more on doing his own stuff, and not MITM everytime but day-um the covers are so fun, and MITM is so good. I just need him to play 4 hours every night I think. :) (no pressure)

This is a much less labour intensive site for voting - hopefully it counts.. seems to anyway.

and Kris shows up briefly in this towards the end.

Thanks Kris - now Sia is stuck in my head. This song is insanely catchy.

Why do you thank Kris for Sia?

Even though it seems like Kris is getting repetitive when he sings Man In The Mirror, or other songs we've heard a lot, it's only because we're watching YouTube. But he's not performing for YouTube. Many people at the concert are probably seeing Kris for the first time. Not multiple times. So they probably aren't bored with MITM. I think he needs to keep doing it because (according to the damn tweets) people always seem to be impressed with it. Plus, it kind of says who he is and what he believes in. jmho.

Kris tweeted about listening to the new Sia CD. Which in turn made me go hunt up some new Sia.

True and MITM is awesome. I'm just greedy for Kris songs.

Yeah. Actually I think we've played this scene before!

So aren't there any pictures of Kris with Ludacris?

The Daily Athenaeum - 2008 ?American Idol? winner Kris Allen makes his college debut at FallFest

Look at the one crazy fan comment. Cheater Kris, you need to sing more octaves!!

The Daily Athenaeum

Do you guys like the song Misery (Maroon 5)? I don't. It's catchy but I still don't.

Hm. Where did you find that alternate way to vote on vh1, SleepinIn? Interesting. I think it's easier to vote the old way, though, because this way I have to keep scrolling up and down. *shrugs*

Yeah, I wasn't dissing MITM per se, it's just an example. It's just that when I watched almost all the videos from his set in Orlando, I just realized that his set was still comprised of covers for one half and his own songs for the other half. I've just never, or very rarely, heard an artist (even new ones) do a set where half the songs were covers. I love his covers, but yeah, maybe if I saw him live I would be more greedy for his own songs.

Anyway, yeah, I'm sure we've discussed that before. It's just watching the videos for the first time in a long time this weekend made me think about this again.

The Maroon 5 song? I'm not sure I've heard it. But Adam Levine's voice is like nails on a chalkboard for me, so I didn't go look for it.

It's hard to say. One of the problems I have with seeing new artists is tryng to absorb all the songs at once. I usually get bored or I end up liking maybe two songs. I always wish they'd do more covers, so I guess Kris is my kind of guy in that respect.

I didn't realize half his set is covers - though maybe we shouldn't count encores. Still, that's alot of covers. Though I'm not bothered by that and kind of like it. Just my personal taste. Anyway, I think there's a possibility that some people going to his shows may not like his songs, though they may like his voice.

So what do you guys think the "raw" sound of his next album will sound like?

I also have to ask: are either of you following the Idols tour at all?

But Adam Levine's voice is like nails on a chalkboard for me

Archie's voice is almost like that for me.

CindyVela Thank you!! We need to make it #1! RT @ponyboi: @CindyVela Good video with Kris Allen. Congrats.

No. I'm telling myself that I'll watch the videos from Lee's set from their last date, but I don't even know when that is.

Cool about Cindy Vela!

I actually love Misery.. LOL - I'm so different from the two of you some times.

Adam has a 5 octave operatic voice metal rock , he can sing anything , Kris has a 1 octave vice (if) , Adam is the best performer of our days and Kris is a middle of the road singer , please don't upset me more , is enough , you fool yourself.

Oh, those 5 octave operatic voice metal rock artists are so 2009. LOL

Honestly, these type of comments secretly tickle me because the person is so bothered by Kris beating Adam more than a year later that they post crap on a college newspaper's website and they're not only saying crap they're saying the same crap. It's like it's a broken record.

Hm. Where did you find that alternate way to vote on vh1, SleepinIn?
Someone posted it on twitter today.

So what do you guys think the "raw" sound of his next album will sound like?

I don't know, I'm really interested to find out. What I want is something I think Kris wants. Which is the music. I want him to be able to play on what he wants to play on and have the time to do it the way he wants to do it.

I also have to ask: are either of you following the Idols tour at all?

Not really. You? Occasionally I'll read something, but none of the touring peeps really interest me all that much. I'll be interested to see what Lee and Crystal - and even Casey come out with, and I like Didi's voice.. but really, no one else does it for me musically. And I don't even want to watch interviews of them like I did last year.. with everyone basically. ETA: So yeah, I don't really have the foggiest notion of what's happening on tour this year.

Archie's voice is almost like that for me.

Sometimes I do like his songs, but just watching that clip from the radio station of him singing Crazy.. eeep - not for me - although it was cool to see them play together. Love him though. He's a sweetie.

CindyVela Thank you!! We need to make it #1! RT @ponyboi: @CindyVela Good video with Kris Allen. Congrats.

Aw!!! Talkin about sweeties. :) (and I mean Cindy Vela not Hedley)

Metal rock, huh? Yeah, If I Had You is really the best metal rock song I've heard in a long long time.

Aww, Archie. Yeah, he's a sweetie. I'm not a fan of his new song really, but I did watch the video and my thought was "aw, he's so adorable, how can I hate on the song", LOL.

I'm so different from the two of you some times.

It's weird how we can both LOVE the same thing, but then our opinions on some other music are completely opposite!

I'm not really expecting anything for Kris' second album. I just hope he is able to do exactly what he wants to do!

LOL at Jacob!

That's what makes it interesting! If all anyone ever listened to was 5 octave operatic voice metal rock artists (as much as I love them at times) then it wouldn't be half as much fun.

That would be nice. You both said more or less the same thing. Things get tricky with second albums and Idols. Now we get to see the real person and it may not be the person we thought it was. If we thought the person was like his/her Idol album. Which in Kris's case is tricky. Because his Idol album seems pretty good to most people.

What I want to know is: all this time he's been working on songs for the album - he and Cale - is that it? Is it going to be Kris/Cale? Or wil there be more collaborators? I think I mentioned this before. What I know of Kris/Cale, right now, is Is It Over. And as for Kris alone, Red Guitar. Of course, there are the BNS songs, but I don't think he's going to write in that style.

Anyhow - it has to be commercial.

This is a thing that goes through my mind a lot, and I probably can't go into it, but maybe you guys can figure out what I mean even if I dont go into it. Basically, it's this. As time goes on , either Kris can remain a mainstream artist, a pop artist, having to put out commercial hits, perhaps get more into entertainment, doing stage shows like Coldplay or something like that. Or he can become less pop oriented. More "raw" as he put it, maybe. Not worrying about pleasing the masses.. Or he could be one of the more serious, respected pop artists, and maybe have it both ways.

Adam has a 5 octave operatic voice metal rock , he can sing anything , Kris has a 1 octave vice (if) , Adam is the best performer of our days and Kris is a middle of the road singer , please don't upset me more , is enough , you fool yourself.

This is (below) from a poster called randynewman, who wrote this on rickey.org back on May 12, 2009 (about a week before the S8 finale).

It reminds me of stuff I read, at the time, on that voice teacher's blog -- I forget her name. You know the one. Posters on that blog made the same point.

Ok, I’m so tired of the comment that Kris does not have enough “range,” or that the other two singers have a bigger range…they don’t…wikipedia defines vocal range “the total span of “musically useful” pitches that a singer can produce.” Danny and Adam begin to lose all of their tone at average mid range notes…Kris’s range in that area is so much stronger…Adam sings incredibly high, given Kris can’t sing that high, but can sing verses and low notes far better. watching the show back i have found the lowest and highest notes for each of these contestants…kris and adam have both shown a two octave range…Kris (low B to high A sharp) Adam ( G below middle C to about high F over high C). that’s two octaves for both. NOW, i am not bashing adam or danny, i think they are great, (with Adam being better), BUT my main point in this is that kris has just as much RANGE as them, so maybe people will stop thinking just because you can sing HIGH does NOT make you a better singer, as 90% of most songs are gonna be sang in the lower and middle register…thanks! KRADAM for the finale!!!
