Top hat pictures make me think Cat in the hat. :/ I am not a fan of that hat.

The same way Adam won last year?
I can at least see why Adam won, but actually looking at who Lee was up against I see how he won too. Anyway go Lee.

Scranton article was cool.

Today on CHUM, Tyler Stewart of BNL called in to the radio station from the tour bus to announce a show they are doing in Toronto in November. The radio station (who I thought forgot who Kris was) actually mentioned that Kris was opening for them and asked how Kris was on tour. Tyler called him the young pup and then said he was great and his band was great and really professional, then he mentioned Angel Taylor too. But, anyway it was nice to hear some Kris talk from BNL.

Ha! I guess Kris got told to promote the bloodstone Diaries.

I can at least see why Adam won.

Yeah, his fans all pretended to be teens and voted like mad. There were voting instructions on his website that were half a page long.

I figure Lee won the same way. (Not that his fans are especially organized, or Glambert-like, I just mean, his Idol fans probably voted for him, rather than just teens. Idol fans are unique.) Plus he had pretty weak competition. Brody Jenner (who also was nomintaed last year and lost), The Situation from Jersey Shore, and Bret Michaels. I guess there were only four nominees this year (five last year). .

And, someone on Top Idol pointed out, if you read the fine print at the end of the broadcast, it basically says the vote doesn't really matter and they can choose who they want.

Good reception from people who probably have no idea who they are.

Wow. That was a good reception. Really good. (And it's not even the full band). Why is it packed for Hedley? (Were there other acts, also?)

To be honest, normally I think I'd be happy Hedley is making such rapid progress in the US, but right now I keep thinking they're more competition for Kris! Seriously. I think this way.

Actually I've been ambivalent about Hedley coming here. I'm really not sure why.

Wow, Canadian publicity for Kris. How did that get past 19E? Guess they weren't paying attention. It must be all about ADAM. All Adam, all the time. Cause he has dancers and stuff.

The Boston Globe had a paragraph about how Angel Taylor played at Cole Haan, yesterday or the day before (maybe. I'm not very good at remembering this stuff). Cole Haan is what? A shoe store? On Newbury Street. Anyhow, a fancy shmancy store, which is almost a given, if it's on Newbury Street.

This is it, on the corner of Newbury and Clarendon, if you're interested.

There was a picture of her playing there. There was a mention of her as one of VH1's "artsists to watch in 2010." Also a mention of her sister, who's a bit famous. I forget who she is.

The other day in the Globe or the Herald there was also an interview with BNL.

I have just been reading that Kris's video might be some kind of homage the movie Inception. Can that be right?

In other Idol related/Boston area news, there's this:

Artsists?

Anyhow, I'm sometimes ambilavent about Jacob, anyhow. I don't think he's a nice guy sometimes. His sincerity is questionable at best. I think he uses people.

As a performer, I love him. I like his humor, in interviews. He has a lot of charisma.

If by chance he became a star here and was on ET all the time and I had to hear about him every day, or something like that, I think I would like him a lot less.

Also, I think if he were to come under the constant scrutiny of the US media it might get him a lot of attention, but it also might be bad for him. I don't necessarily think he could handle it.

Yes, there was another band, one that's had a lot of buzz recently - and the reason probably all the people were there. Hedley opened for Neon Trees.

To be honest, normally I think I'd be happy Hedley is making such rapid progress in the US, but right now I keep thinking they're more competition for Kris! Seriously. I think this way.

LOL - they're so different though. I don't think of Hedley as competition for Kris. Since I look at them as more pop/punk/ballady - Kris is never going to be pop/punk - he doesn't even want to be.
Actually I've been ambivalent about Hedley coming here. I'm really not sure why.

I think it will be interesting. I don't know how the world would react to them to be honest. I mean Canada has had them in the media pretty much since Jake was on Idol. But it's all music related stuff, I really don't know anything about them personally other than what they share themselves. No one is asking them about their home lives. Or at least I'm not reading that if it's out there.

I think he's changed a bit lately, they got involved with Craig Keilburger and Free the Children and seem quite serious about it. But who knows.

As a performer, I love him. I like his humor, in interviews. He has a lot of charisma.

I think he's funny and he's pretty smart... but irritating.. oh, yes. But he's fun to watch and I like his voice.

If by chance he became a star here and was on ET all the time and I had to hear about him every day, or something like that, I think I would like him a lot less.

Thank god he's not in the dream house. :) If they thought Alex was annoying they haven't seen anything yet. I actually don't think he'd be on ET all the time. I don't think they want their private lives made public. I could be wrong, but other than knowing he has a girlfriend and a dog named Wally, I don't know anything about the guy. I know more about Kris to be honest and he's pretty closed mouthed,.

Also, I think if he were to come under the constant scrutiny of the US media it might get him a lot of attention, but it also might be bad for him. I don't necessarily think he could handle it.

Yeah, who knows. I want them to give it a try in the US, because I think they're talented and the US is such a large market. Even if they're playing much smaller venues it's probably more cost effective because the population base is so much larger.

and if they're successful, then other bands might also get a chance at breaking into US radio.

Well, they're playing at Live At The Vineyard! They're walking in his footsteps! Doggin' him!

I wasn't really thinking in terms of musical styles. More about celebrity or fame. Anyway, I don't see Jacob and Dave doing anything musically in that clip that's much different from Kris and Cale. It's much more similar than it is different.

Still, my point is more about the competition for an audience, and I think that crosses genre lines. These days, Lady Gaga and John Mayer and Kris and Adam are all competeing for the same audience - since they're all played on the same radio stations. And Hedley would be, too.

Anyway, I think it's hard enough to get noticed when you're subtle and you're not gimmicky (Kris), and you have no particular publicity "hook." Still, he's doing pretty well. But then someone like Jacob comes along who will do anything to be noticed, isn't really polite about it, etc. - I kind of fear for all the subtle artists who are not exhibitionists and are trying to get noticed just for their music. Because the kids in Canada ate that stuff up, apparently.

Overall I guess I'm saying it's like the guy who comes in and takes over the party because he's kind of loud and obnoxious. Not that Jacob is always that way. Not sure that's a perfect analogy but it's the best I can do right now.

I guess I'm looking at it like if it wasn't Hedley it would be someone else. There are always going to be other bands competing for radio spots, touring $$ etc. Kris has more of a publicity thing than Hedley do in the US. I mean who's heard of Hedley in the US, really? Not very many people.

For all that people say that the Truth isn't doing well it's #19 on HAC - out of a hell of a lot of songs out right now.. and it's on 99 stations which isn't bad at all. Kris is also impressing a lot of musicians out there.. From Paul McCartney's guitarist to The Script, Train, The Fray, Switchfoot, Even BNL.. lol - So yes, Kris isn't flashy but flashy isn't the only way to get attention. It's quicker but it's not the only way.

Plus charts are made up of all kinds of songs, If you have Kris at #1 you still need someone else at #2 or vice versa.

I know. You're right. I make no sense. It might have to do with the whole Jacob-Kalan thing, too. The fan warring, there, is kind of similar to the Adam-Kris stuff. For instance, a couple of years ago, any time you looked at a video of Kalan, there were comments under it saying Jacob was so much better, Jacob should have won, etc. And the Kalan-is-boring comments. I don't know - maybe my reactions are all mixed up with that. Jacob even encouraged some of it.

But he's given me so much entertainment and so many laughs it's hard to dislike him.

(Speaking of fan wars, Brian Mansfield had something today about Kris being inducted into the Arkansas Hall of Fame, and even in the comments about that, there were the same assholes! "He can't even fill an 800 seat venue. His album only sold 300,000 copies. Why does he deserve this?" Honest to God. That Ladyguard is one big Kris hater, boy.)

The Truth being #19 on HAC is good! But the Kris fans can't even rejoice over that at all, it seems.

This from MJ's blog:

Watch Joe Dioguardi tell the New York cable show, Capital Tonight earlier today that his daughter Kara Dioguardi learned about her so-called firing the same way we did–on the internet.
In fact, Kara has not heard from Idol brass at all, even as rumors swirl about Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler joining Randy Jackson on a reconfigured judges panel.
Needless to say, according to Papa Joe, Kara is very disappointed in the way Idol is treating her.

American Idol sucks.

. . . And from MJ's blog, girlygirl posted: "so I saw on twitter that AWM is on hit predictor…" :happy6:

Oh, Jacob played into that competition for sure. I still think he's the one that released his version of Awake in a Dream and sort of opened the flood gates for Idol releasing both songs from 1st and 2nd person. And asking people not to vote for him, any time I watch the encore of I Want you to Want Me, you see how much he didn't try in the performance night.. and the encore performance shows how pissed off Zach was with him for bailing on the show. I still love the encore performance. It's hard to stay mad at Jake.

I dol does suck sometimes, it skews perspective when you look at artists, and as a business, they can't seem to get their act together. They knew Ellen wasn't coming back, they knew Simon was leaving, they should have figured something out, and made a solid plan.

Monday video!! :) :) :)

Webcast Wednesday @2PM Sophie@103.7 – Homepage

Hedley on live now on Radio Sophie

Ha ! How did I miss Kris and Justin posting snarky photos about each other, lol

I was thinking more about some of the Kalan put-downs by Jacob after their season was over. Other than saying K looked like a chick, J kept saying he was glad he lost because he didn't want to sing to a track. Which of course K didn't do. Jacob didn't want to win, then he seemed to need to denigrate the winner. Oh, well - old stuff.

There were supposedly some interviews with Kris today so I'm going to try to find them now.

PS. I try to enjoy the Kris concert threads on MJs but -- who cares about the frigging tweets?? Reading and overanalyzing tweets from strangers is not how I want to spend my time, I guess.

Q104Kory #Hey @adamlambert fans…stop hating on @KrisAllen. He actually had a lot of good things to say about Adam and they are friends. #nohate

So no J-lo? Who is going to be judging now? LOL

I say everyone in the recording industry throws their names in a hat and we pick out 3 and we're good to go. It would be like jury duty. You have to do it.. but they'd pay you buckets of money.

I wouldn`t mind the pay either. Telling them to pack up their dreams and go home ... you just don`t interest me to their faces.. I wouldn`t be so good at. Could we judge by email - cause I`d be much better at that.. :)

Yay for Wendy's! Reminds me that the only place I heard David's Light On at the time was in the pharmacy. I almost dropped the shampoo bottle I was holding.

The best is still LLWD during the fireworks, that was awesome.

The last member of David's band who wasn't on twitter finally joined and he's tweeting stuff like a picture of him and his son eating ice cream: Yfrog Image : yfrog.com/0nlqmjj - Uploaded by KYLESPEEK. Aww!

Awesome about the video, that's quick!

(You know, when I watch the video, it'll only be the third time I listen to the duet version of TT. And the second time I listened to it was actually when they did it live together, not even the recorded version.)
