Because you're right. Shirtless pictures or the like would get a TON of press.. and Kris is just never going to do that.
At least, I have a feeling this video might be somewhat sexy. As for shirtless pics, it's a little ironic that Kris must spend a lot of time working out and getting a good body, and then is embarassed when people want to look at it. Is he doing it just for his health?
I get what you're saying about Justin, but I think it was an opportunity for Kris too just to have his name in front of people. The Producer once said in a fan interview that you'd be surprised how many people watch the show, or download the episodes. Which doesn't mean to say that anyone I know has even ever heard of it... because they haven't. But Justin's picture and status had him on tour for Kris. And it was a few random dates, but I still occasionally see tweets asking about Justin touring with Kris. So simply just having his name being on the screen is a good thing in my opinion.
I'm guessing you're talking about IICD. Whose name on the screen? Do you mean Kris being featured on IICD is a good thing? Sorry, I'm just slightly confused.
Adam's openers aren't really big stars either. (bigger than Kris's but not huge really)
No, not big stars. But neither is Adam. Orianthi's single did pretty well on Billboard though - within the past year. Adam, Orianthi, and Allsion have all released their first albums in the past year - all major label albums. And all three of them appeared on AI last season. I tend to think that a Kris Allen tour with Orianthi and Allison would have done almost as well as an Adam tour with them - though not quite. Maybe only if Kris had been as hyped on AI as Adam was last season - and by the media all last year. lol (Though, who would want to see Kris on such a tour? Not me. Overall, we're better off.)
I like the layout of Kris's tour, I like him opening for various people, etc. I just have noted that at times, at certain venues, with certain opening acts, it seems like kind of a second-rate effort. And other times, it seems first rate. A lot of people just accept that Kris is not a star, but I think if he were presented as a star, more, then more people would accept it. I think part of why people are buying into Adam right now is because he's being presented a certain way that makes him seem important. But I don't think he's all that important.
My feeling is that things may even out eventually, that it is better for Kris to be undersold than oversold, and maybe it's not good for Adam in the long run to be so oversold. Or maybe it will work. It's hard to say. I think overall I've noticed more disappointed reactions to him on this tour than there are to Kris on his. The "pleasantly surprised" reactions to the "wow, I had no idea he was this good!" reactions are better. So, low expectations, exceeded, are good - just as long as people get to see Kris. I just want to make sure he's getting seen, I guess.
ETA: I like Ben from the IICD house, but that girl...she really doesn't do anything for me (re the Orianthi video). Her looks actually kind of bug me. Facial expressions, maybe.
Just talking more...I'm actually glad Kris has a lot of variety on his tour(s). He could have just opened for someone all summer. Or been stuck in a kind of rigid tour format like Adam (it doesn't sound like Adam deviates from his setlist much - he probably can't, it's such a production). He gets to do all kinds of things, try out different songs, play acoustic, etc. It's a good format for him.
