Yeah, I think they did increase the time for commercials.

What bugs me about the judges is that they act as if they are the stars of the show, that's the problem. Of course, I would like more time for the performances, but it is what it is. If the judges were at least respecting the time given to them (so that they never went over-time), it would already be a great step forward. They can't even respect that and instead lose time arguing over stupid stuff, and trying to be funny, or whatever. Give you opinion and that's it, I don't ask for anything more than that from them.

YouTube - Kris Allen @ Anthology - "Falling Slowly"

I interrupt this discussion for Sublimeness.

Now I'll continue.

The worst thing ever was when they had to do duets and then the judges had to divide their comments (in Season 8 ). And of course the 'chosen' contestants got Simon and Paula, while the 'fodder' got Randy and Kara!! That show is not even trying to be subtle.

Yeah, that's a good point too. Commercials are a double edged sword. They provide the money that allows you to get awesome songs cleared and yet they are one of the big problems. That being said I love the Ford commericals no matter how cheesy they are. It's something that's valuable experience for the Idols too - making videos.

also.. sublime is sublime. I just want to curl up in that song.

Yep!!

The duets were so bad because you knew what was going to happen. It was like watching a train wreck. They should have had unjudged duets.. or multiple duets. You just knew going in to it that Danny (and I like Danny) wasn't going to be able to resist showboating. He was never going to sing an actual duet.

and yes the judges commenting. ugh.

I like the Ford commercials, too. (And yeah, valuable video-making experience.)

It will be a strange show without Simon. I think it might be a better show, but it will never be as compelling because Simon could make us furious when he was biased and manipulative (or drawing on Paula to distract from the positive comments for someone he didn't want to get votes). And yet when he gave a positive comment, all was forgiven, because we knew how important his opinion was. He created a love-hate relationship with the audience, and I think it was probably deliberate on his part, but you could never really tell, which also kept you watching.

Also, very few people are likely to be as blunt as him, or mean, and get away with it. A lot of people loved him. So many people said, "He tells it like it is." I never thought so. I thought he told it like he saw it, but not necessarily like it was. Or sometimes he told it like it wasn't, just to manipulate the votes. I didn't think he was honest. But he was blunt.

By the way, I have a DVD I bought in the discount bin, called "American Idol, The Search For A Superstar." It's like a documentary about Season 1. With a lot of highlights. You guys should see it. The show was so different. Smaller, quieter. A lot like the early seasons of CI.

Speaking of Ford videos, do you think Kris's connection with Ford is all over? They seemed to think he was a positive spokesman for them.

But do you have From Justin to Kelly? (I do.. did.. lol)

I remember it. :) I think I watched the Idol rewind of season 1 too. I agree things changed a LOT over the years. Ryan was just some random guy for example.. :) (and so were the rest of them - except Paula she was the star of the show nevermind the fact that you hadn't seen her in years) Way less glitz and gloss too.

and I like Danny

Put the 'Go' in Gokey! I think I'm still mad about that duet. I'm also mad they let the contestants choose who they would duet with, and because Adam chose first, he got to dictate the way the whole show went, basically. Do you believe that? A huge TV show, with very little left to chance, and they left the choice of partners up to the idols? Why don't I beleive it. Do you think if Kris had been fast and had picked Allison (or vice-versa), TPTB would have let that go?

Oh, hell yeah. And I still love so much how Kris gets lost in the music, it's a beautiful thing to witness.

He's so serious and intense, sometimes, performing, but then, when he talks, he's a funny, happy guy.

Are there any other videos from Nashville out there? I love acoustic Kris, you can usually hear his voice better in the youtube videos! Not so much in that FS one, but I'll take what I can get.

Eeep! I would be totally scared of doing that kind of stunt!

I think all of the guys would have chosen Alison if given first pick. But the main problem was Danny not knowing how to duet.

I mean the Scientist cover Kris and Alison did pretty much proves they are awesome together too. Kris and Adam singing Crazy? Forgetaboutit.. Awesomesauce. The problem was Danny.

The only other one I've seen is TT

And more singing. (I guess.) Many people on MJ's still want to go back to those days of no instruments. It's funny. If that happens (which I doubt very much) I would stop watching.

It's interesting how (to me) this sums so much up, and is almost at the root of fundamental differences between me and some people there. I had no idea there would be so many people who want to go back to that. Of course, outside of MJs, I don't think too many of those people exist.

I might watch but, without the instruments and the songwriting.. I don't think I'd be interested in following their careers. I don't want to go back to the purely vocal show. It was SUCH a relief when Chris Daughtry arrived to shake up the show.

Sure, but why was it up to the guys?- Allison could have done the choosing, as well.

What I'm saying, though, is that when something like the duets could determine the outcome of the show, to leave it up to the contestants seems wrong. Plus, how was it determined who got to sing with Allison? Adam asked first. That's all! I mean, none of this seems very fair-and-equal. Even a coin toss to determine who chose first would be fairer.

Completely agree.

And I still say, if Kris had gone and chosen Allison first, the show never would have let that happen.

But anyway...Paranoid Android...I haven't heard that version (with the vest) yet. Going to listen now.

By the way, some Kris fans are puzzled BNL brought Angel Taylor on during their encore and not Kris. One person explained that AT has been their opener for the whole tour, Kris hasn't, but - so what? Kris did one show with Lady A and they brought him back for an encore. Not that I care, I don't think it's a slight, just curious.

Its really fantastic information available on this thread. I am really appreciating to you for this. Thanks a lot !!!!!

You're welcome. Stick around! Are you an Idol fan?

By the way, I think Kris's video is going to be awesome.

Also, they must have faith in The Truth for a reason. I don't think I know what the reason is, but maybe it will be a late bloomer. I think they're only interested in radio numbers at this point. I know this doesn't seem to make sense, nor do I really get it. But I think, in the industry, having a song that charts on radio is more of a sign of success than selling downloads.

So - do you think Kris was at the Paramount Studio in Hollywood the other day for something having to do with this video? Or was it something completely different?

And Kris is still wearing the goofy sweater/jacket/thing.

@KrisAllen the truth is it's HOT out here! on Twitpic

Free Download of Hedley's Perfect from a radio station if anyone wants...

Q-uesday - Free Download Every Tuesday - Q92.9

also.. they didn't buy another jacket? Total waste of a perfectly good rain date.

Was Kris at Paramount? It might be something to do with the video or press. I can't believe I missed something. I feel negligent. LMAO

I think the Angel Taylor singing with them probably has more to do with the fact that she's up first and has more down time than the Kris and the band. During the day Kris and BNL are both pretty busy running to radio stations for press or free extra shows. I don't think Keith had that issue happening the night Kris opened for him, and Lady A's LA show wasn't it a one off show? Or was it during their tour? I don't remember. It might just be a timing thing. But who knows? Not me. :)

Hedley and Allison @ KissFM Seattle.

106.1 KISS FM - Today's Hottest Music

both Kris and Hedley are in Reno. Weird. LOL

Oh, and "Yeah, I have an orb" will become my new catch phrase.

I love that too. I want an orb.

I think after the video website guy kept insisting that the director was Aaron I tended to believe him. LOL

Kris has a whole desert theme going on. Next video has to be filmed in the rainforest. :)
