It does look like Kris cut his hair, also the radio station pictures? Awful. They need a photographer or a better camera.

Justin needs to get out of that house. He's super annoying in vlogs. That's why I don't ever watch them. I figure Justin opening for Kris is a goodwill thing with 19. So I'm for it. It's not going to kill Kris -- Justin seemed to like Kris when they met. Kris gets another show out of it. eh, whatever. Now if they go on a world tour together...

Hedley's off to New York - I wonder if that has to do with their radio add date?

Yeah, maybe. What radio add date??

Pictures here too

Those are great pictures. I missed Adam's performance, by the way (tsk!). Strangely, some of his fans on MJ's (of all people) were not too thrilled with it. Since some people thought it was uninspired or underwhelming, the rest pointed out how "classy" it was, and how Adam is so often "classy."

You didn't see that? Bug your local radio station Kristen at MJ's posted Hedley has an add date for Perfect. JULY 12 HAC stations.

It did seem subdued in comparison to the rest of the show, but he sounded great I thought. He's touring with a band and four dancers he would have been really lost on the big stage. Adam being at the MMVA's reminded me that his band guy (can't remember his name L something) was in Yellowcard.

Here's their arrival on the red carpet from 06' I think this was when Hedley was touring with them.

YouTube - Yellowcard, red carpet, MMVA 2006, Toronto

I'm going to upload some behind the scenes stuff from the online broadcast (if I ever figure out how to convert it) of Adam and Hedley. Faber Drive was also there and Carly Rae.

Now they showed some footage of the concert Saturday on ET Canada.. I really hate that purple monstrosity he's wearing, I have to say. Subdued kinda works for me. The toronto paper also reviewed the concert - full page report and picture.

CANOE -- JAM! Music: Molson Canadian Amphitheatre, Toronto - June 19, 2010

The reviewer loved the concert but also compared him to Librace. Which for me.. um, wouldn't be what I wanted...

You mean in the US, I take it? How do add dates work, anyway?

All I know about Yellowcard was that when Hedley was playing with them they did a show in Boston, and Jacob jumped off their van or trailer, and ended up at Mass. General, which was included in the Try This At Home DVD (the part where he had his leg stitched up). Jacob later said this cost him a fortune, because he didn't have insurance in the US.

Can you believe Hedley played in Boston, at a club, and I didn't even know at the time that Jacob or Hedley existed? Missed opportunity.

I've been following this Kris concert in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on twitter, and it looks like a blast, with the birthday hats, and the crowd singing to him...but then it just stopped. The tweets, and twitpics, I mean. Nothing for over half an hour.

Kris Allen fans share birthday celebration at Albuquerque show

venue.ABQjournal.com: Dan Mayfield Tells You Where To Go

^This was a nice preview of Kris's gig in Albuquerque.

I have to say, I get annoyed at the mention of Adam (constantly). And I'm not ever sure what Adam is the breakout "star" of. Media attention? If Adam is a media star, Kris never intended or wanted to be that. Or to walk red carpets. I think he's more the kind of star he wanted to be. I wonder how many "huge hits" he'll have to have before he's considered a star. Anyhow, I hope that happens, then maybe the comparisons will finally stop.

Ha, yeah I saw that, but I figure if it's more money for a charity..then whatever. Bring on the competitive giving.

I knew you'd say that. I don't think it's a very classy move, though. I can't like these people. They are really getting on my nerves. They're real pips, and no mistake.

That was a nice pic of KAB. On MJ's headlines thread (which I usually avoid, these days), someone said something like, "Didn't Kris get a deal with Gibson? I thought all the Idols did." So I posted some of his and Andrew's Gibson endorsements. Seems a Kris fan can't get away with just posting a picture of Kris and his band and saying they look good.

They are pippy. No doubt.

I think Gibson came to see them at another show, didn't they? Who knows what their deals entail..maybe Fender made a better offer?

And yes, very nice photo. I approve. :)

What do you mean, Gibson came to see them? Anyhow, yeah, I thought the same thing -- maybe Fender made them a better offer. Or maybe their deal with Gibson is non-exclusive.

I was thinking of something today, when someone on Top Idol mentioned that Adam's best bet is to be in a Scissor Sisters-type band.

I don't think Adam is a band type (even though he tried that route, once). It reminded me of something about Kris. When Kris is with his band, the band is so integral that I really think of them more as a frontman and a band, rather than a solo Idol singer and his backup. This is probably why I compare them so often to Hedley. I think of the two bands in almost the same way. A tight band with a star singer/frontman. So then I thought: this may be the reason some reviewers think Kris is not a worthy Idol winner type.

They expect an Idol-type solo singer, and instead they get this musician whose singing is integrated organically into the sound of the whole band. Yes, he's still very much the star and the solo singer, but its about the band, too. Hard to explan what I mean. But I think this is why the audiences are so happy and why they appreciate him and the music so much.

ETA: In praise of Kris. I can't believe that after all this time I've liked all the decisions he's made and all the music he's chosen to do. I mean, there's no one else I can say that about. It's kind of nuts.

You know you might have something here. I don't think that Adam is a band type either. I mean he has a band, and I'm sure they're great, but it does feel like Adam and then the band. Where the KAB+Kris seems more integrated.

I know, right? Except for his love for Lifetime.. can't explain that one to me.. lol

This is actually a great article from Fender. Ryland and Kris talk about the Truth.. lol And they also talk to all the band members... how novel.

I guess Kris dedicated Lifetime to his dad when he was at Kris's concert? Like I said before, it speaks to the male experience. Which is something I think most women don't really give a crap about! Any more than men actually give a crap about the female experience. What can I say?

Yeah, that was really a cool interview. The band should be included a lot of the time.
I think from the tweets I've seen recently, a lot of guys go to Kris's shows on their own. They aren't all 'drug there by their girlfriends.' Probably a lot are, though.

I like how Kris actually said something in praise of himself.

Its funny how they don't care what they say about The Truth. It's just so dumb to have Monahan on that song.

I'm missing missaddicted, how about you?

Hedley, Faber backstage interviews...9 minutes and 54 seconds of my life I'll never get back. lol. What was that, anyway? An online thing of some kind? I actually enjoyed it, I was just kidding previously. :)

So Kris will be singing the national anthem again. Hope he gets over the cold before then.

Justin Gastin is performing with his band on IICD right now...

Gotta be a guy thing. :p

I am... do you think she's out in the real world? :) Weird.

It was an online stream of a backstage area at the MMVA's. Very random interviews. Matt's always entertaining though. He had an interview with Stereos backstage (I don't know if you know them - but they won the Disband series and played on the red Carpet of the MMVA's) anyway Matt was a judge on the show and he told them that their music was punk rock Jonas brothers and he f-in hated it but knew it would sell so it made him hate it more. LOL - But he was right Stereos sold a TON.

You should listen to him (Justin), he's good. Those people are really closed minded on MJ's blog.

Hurry up before it's over!! I like him a lot. It's sort of Chris Isaak-ish. He's just rehearsing right now.

Oh, okay, I remember you mentioning that guy (Matt) and how he was a good judge.

I couldn't make it through the Adam interview. He's nice but honest to god, he never says anything interesting.

I'm listening, I'm listening!!! LOL - you're right he isn't bad at all.

It's rehearsal - they're probably worrying more about instrumentation and timing.

Ha. I didn't mean to make it all boldface! Didn't mean to yell at you! lol

Now, this number isn't really as good as the last two. Kind of nice, though. (I really didn't think Kris would have some lousy musician on his tour. He must have satisfied himself Justin is good. I think he - Kris - actually does have a say about it.)

Do all drummers now look like Ryland?

I think it's funny how Justin gets this beautiful-looking rehearsal space and Kris and his band rehearse in some basement somewhere. :)

I think the blond emo wig and the glasses come with the correspondence school drummer's course you send for in the back of Downbeat magazine.
