I'm interested in fan stuff up to a point. If it's fun. Mostly I'm interested in the shows and the music. I don't want to look at gifs of Kris swinging his hips. It's sort of embarrassing.

What?!?!? You didn't save the swinging hip gif??? How can you call yourself a fan?

LOL - I didn't save it either - don't worry. I did however enjoy watching the video just because you can tell they're having a lot of fun playing together. That's really the part I'm interested in too.

What has happened to all the guys on MJ's blog, anyway?

Probably like you they get annoyed with the fan-girly stuff and read and skip. Or not bother reading if it's all squee.

Well, guess what? I don't care. All fandoms end up the same, don't they?

Ha, yes they kinda do. And then there are tears, and broken friendships. It never fails. oh, not to mention petty jealousies, and heartbreak.

In other news.. David Cook's song on Glee??? That's pretty awesome for David if it happens.

Oh, fandoms. Both one of the best things and one of the worst things in life. I also take what I want from fandom and leave the rest. Some Cook fans were following me on twitter and I followed them back, only to realize that they were talking about David All. The. Time. I unfollowed quickly. There's a limit to the amount of squeeing that I can endure.

Yes! I hope it happens. Actually, I was kind of expecting it. They've covered songs by Kelly, Carrie and Jordin. I was thinking that it was only a matter of time until we heard the Magic Rainbow or CBTM on the show.

Too bad it's not a song that David wrote. Yep, still holding grudges.

BTW, he's now starting recording his album, finally! And yay!

Well, you guys, probably you read about the biker-type guy who was a big fan of Kris's and was at his concert last night, and mentioned how he bought an extra phone just so he could vote for Kris, etc.?

girlygirl, the Kris booster, posted a pic of this guy (his back, actually) enjoying the concert, on MJ's headlines thread (I think it was headlines, anyhow). And then "gangreen" (my personal bete noire, over there -- can't stand this person) objected to the invasion of privacy. (This person is not a Glambert, but hates Kris anyhow.) Then she brought up Kris's video of the gambling woman in the wheelchair, and said Kris is to blame for this invasion-of-privacy trend...

I am not very comfortable with the idea of taking pictures of strangers and posting them on message boards to discuss that person without their knowledge. Seems like Kris set a horrible precedent with that woman in the wheelchair.

!!! It's all Kris's fault! Everything is Kris's fault. Ha.

I actually posted a response to some of this, only because I didn't like to see girlygirl attacked, with only she and kristen (it seemed) against the onslaught. It's too bad people ruin pleasant discussions and "hijack" stuff.

Probably like you they get annoyed with the fan-girly stuff and read and skip. Or not bother reading if it's all squee.

Or else they just can't stand all the petty bickering and other bullsh*t. A lot of women have left, too.

(MJ responded to a post the other day and mentioned to these people that they're driving away some of her posters. She said she knew for a fact this was happening because some of the people who have left have said so.)

That's true. I can't take the nonsense most of the time in the headlines thread I take everything with a huge grain of salt. I think that a lot of people don't really care post-show - they move on to a certain degree. The pop-culture moment passed by so to speak.

I read the headlines today, because someone mentioned the uproar in the concert thread but it's so ridiculous that all of a sudden this is an invasion of privacy. Every single picture posted from a concert is an invasion of privacy if that's the case, every tweet, every recap. If you're anticipating privacy from an Idol/ex-idol's show you are at the wrong concert quite frankly. And really even reading the wrong blog.

The guy whose privacy was supposedly invaded wasn't complaining, right?

'All of a sudden' when it happens at a Kris concert, I guess.

Exactly. And they didn't even bring up videos. That's why I posted what I did. If you don't want your privacy invaded you'll have to stay away from public events. Because these days it all ends up recorded, and on the internet.

Honestly, it reminds me of junior high school over there, more and more. The pettiness and immaturity. I have no desire to re-live junior high school. Adults are usually pretty tolerent of other points of view and tastes other than their own.

I followed some Kris fans who tweeted stuff from the concerts. They haven't been too bad. I think they're the same people who post in the Kris threads on MJs. But if there's too much squeeing, I'll be unfollowing, too.

I can't read that review again, but didn't the guy spend, like, a paragraph describing what Adam was wearing? And that comment he made about Adam being right for Phantom...

Idol isn't about finding a musical theatre performer, yet they feature so many singers of this type. They've produced so many singers with that sort of voice that a lot of the finalists end up in musical theatre. Idol isn't especially proud of that fact, I guess, since they don't boast about the success of these people the way they do their recording stars. Yet this is the type the judges often seem to favor.

Speaking of musical theatre, I was just watching Catherine Zeta-Jones, on the Tony Awards, singing Send In The Clowns. She doesn't have a great voice, but I was thinking about Adam while she was performing, because to me what she did with the song is what he doesn't do, live the emotional life of the song. This really bugs me about him, sorry.

It is funny, you're right because they do favour that type of voice and performance. They tend to pick people with big theatrical voices and then they tell them that they're being too theatrical. Too dinner theatre etc. It's very weird. lol

ETA. Here's a good interview (from today, I guess) with Kris, from that guy in the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat. He (Pinella) starts out saying Kris had the lowest selling Idol debut album ever. (Hey, maybe he posts on TWoP in his spare time.) Of course Kris has had some pretty important accomplishments, like that song that was Top 10 in Pop, HAC, and AC, and his album has sold 320,000 copies. And his first single is closing in on 1.5 million. But let's talk about that 80,000 copies the first week. Forever.

By the way, have you guys watched any of Kris's performances from Harrah's? They're really good.

I thought this (from Top Idol's tard art post) was cute. I think Kris would have looked better with only one eye on the side of his head, though. :)

Flip flops and hairy feet!

So shall we weigh in on Adam's new video? I, of course, hated it. :)

Brian Mansfield interview with Kristopher in Nashville:

Idol Chatter: American Idol News, Rumors, & Information

I will have to give Mansfield credit for being someone who at last has given Kris a decent-length interview. He deserves it. The guy gets nothing, when you think about it. (Now I hope Mansfield gives him a decent review.)

So do you think Kris is attempting to write his second album himself (along with Cale)? What do you guys think of this? So many of my favorite songs of his are co-written by some great songwriters. I have no problem with his own talents, though. Not at all. I would like to see him collaborate, anyway. Just to give it some variety and extra input, here and there (after all, my favorite song, AWM, was co-written by Joe King).

It was a really nice interview with Mansfield! I love that Kris admitted that he's doing Paranoid Android for street cred. And that he carries a ponytail holder for Katy on his wrist.

I'm sure Kris will have to collaborate for his second album as well. I actually would be very happy with just his own songs, but it's 19E/Jive we're talking about here. They love their stable of songwriters.

Adam's video? I didn't watch it and I don't plan to.

Oh, and I love that Kris took those two fans for lunch!

Other thing, David Cook doodled this for a Doodle Art Auction for the Danville Library foundation: http://www.danville.lib.il.us/foundation/doodleauction/MX-3501N_20100222_093148.jpg

Pretty cool!

First: Just saw Adam's video - couldn't find a working link earlier.

Adam's video - I liked it! More than I thought I would actually. It made me like the song more which is a feat in itself. :) So go Adam. It's actually a really good video that doesn't take a lot of budget. Just friends in strange clothes and some lasers and flashing lights. But it strongly reminded me of MGMT's Electric Feel (which I also love) so maybe that's a good thing ultimately. So yes. I liked it a lot.

YouTube - MGMT - Electric Feel

The Mansfield article. Seriously I don't care if he likes the show tonight (I mean I hope he does and all) but this interview was all kinds of awesome.

Kris is just so honest, I love that about him. also

"I'm not Catholic, but I have no problem with Mary" LOL Kris.

I think Kris and Cale are hoping to write the album together, but I'd like some colaborations too. I think a lot of good songs came out of the colaborations. But I wouldn't mind if they colaborate with the other guys... that could be cool. I have a feeling that they won't be recording in the fall yet. Especially if they release another single. But who knows?

TT got a bunch of adds today too. Thank god. LOL

David's doodle is awesome!!

and Marco Puig!!! Cool. (but what are they going to do for this video????)

Kris is feeding GRO wheat thins. IDEK. LMAO

I don't either. (Yeah, right.)

Tim wants to work with Kris. (Tim you have good taste - point in your favour)

Tim who? Tim Urban?? Please. I'm eating.

Do either of you know who Jordan Pruitt is?

Not me.

I'm glad about Marco Puig. I love his work, seriously. The theme of the video? I don't know. Maybe Kris has some ideas for it. The thing is, I think at some point they're going to have to force Kris into a bit of an adult mode, because he is, after all, an adult, and he sings about some mature things. And if they don't play up his sexier aspects they're missing an opportunity. This sounds shallow but, hey, it's a business, after all.

TT got a bunch of adds today too. Thank god. LOL

That's good.

Oh, and I love that Kris took those two fans for lunch!

Seriously, he's such a cool guy.

I'm not going to reply to everything in your posts but you guys brought up a lot of good/interesting/funny stuff. Kris's comment about Mary, and what all his bracelets represent (I've been wondering about them for a long time. I have a similar bracelet to the Mary one, only mine is saints. Anyhow, it was interesting how he described them). About the collaborations, yeah, I can't see Jive letting them write all the songs. But isn't it cool how Is It Over has been getting a lot of good reviews when the show is reviewed?

:p

I liked Tim. Okay, so he wasn't that great a singer.. He was smart though and at least went for it. Plus great taste.. lol

IIO is awesome live. I wish the album version had the band on it. AND I actually wish the band had been able to record the whole album. These guys really have an energy together that comes through in the songs they play.

Oh, well, there was no band, then. (The album.) I was thinking about the band today. Nothing deep, but they really seem like they're enjoying their work, and they seem compatible. They seem to have fun up there. (Not that this is news, but I guess I'm getting sleepy.)

I liked Tim. Okay, so he wasn't that great a singer.. He was smart though and at least went for it. Plus great taste.. lol

It's not that Tim was bad, though he wasn't very good. It's that he was so average and mediocre. I'm totally resistant to his charm, so I don't get why people liked him so much, but if they did, they did. I'm glad for him, and yeah, he has good taste in Idols. :)

From his comments on twitter, Mansfield seemed to be enjoying the show very much. If he gives Kris a bad review, I'll call shenanigans!

I have no clue who Jordan Pruitt is either.

Twitter is over capacity so I couldn't check out those tweets...

Well, this is Brian Mansfield's "review." Since he never really says whether the show or Kris were good or not, I don't know what to make of it!! I think it kind of sucks, actually. Not that it's a bad review, because it isn't a review, more of a recap. It's so neutral. It sucks from my point of view, because I would have liked him to say something like Kris is a good singer, or performer, puts on a great show, pleases the audience, etc. I mean, come on!!

I also would have liked him to say Jon Bream's review is wrong. Or isn't wrong. I can't actually tell what he thinks.

Also, Chris Sligh's quote makes it sound almost like a lot of people (instead of one) have "negatively reviewed" Chris's show! And he (Brian) makes an awful lot out of the audience being reserved, or not being loud, or not dancing, or whatever. If so, this wasn't the usual audience.

And finally, why are they making such a huge deal all the time about these venues not being full? I have never really seen this mentioned as much before as it seems to be for Kris. 600 or 700 people on a Monday night strikes me as a good crowd. I used to act in a theatre that held @300 people, and that seemed like a lot of people!

Oops, Brian Mansfield and I got into a slight kerfuffle on MJ's blog. But he apologized to me. (lol!)
