Canadian Idol Fans Watching American Idol

I was concentrating more on Alex's voice than on the song. Some people on Top Idol (or was it MJ's?) also thought it sounded like a coronation song.
I was trying to decide if his voice was good enough for radio, and also, I was trying to figure out how far he could have gone on Idol against some of the people who did go farther.
I thought he sounded pretty good, but not fantastic. I thought he sounded kind of unpleasant at times but overall good, and also (unless autotune was used) his pitch is really good.
The song sounded more r&b to me.

Kalan did a live blog on Yahoo during the Junos. He's a funny guy. He mentioned Jacob in a snarky way. "Come on Jacob. You're our only hope for something exciting. Punch someone in the face!"
During this live blog someone said something like "This is boring, bring on Adam Lambert!" Someone else seconded it. And someone else said "I liked Kris." (Liked. Oh, Canada. He does have a career. You just don't get to hear much about it.)

This would be good if this was a local talent show. I really don't think he's any better than that. I don't know what people are talking about, his "great voice" and "beautiful tone." When he hit the higher notes he was better than average, but that's it.

I'm going to warn you right now: Mike is doing the same song. Not that I mind that much, but it wasn't one of my fav Kris performance. I'm not a big fan of the genre though. It's not the kind of music I would willingly listen to.

Speaking of you-know-who, it's been several days without any Kris news. It seems weird. Well, his single came out, but there wasn't any fanfare for that. Is it available on iTunes?

Sinatra isn't really my thing either, but there have been some good performances to come out of the big band/rat pack shows. And Kris's performance, I can't say this week was my favourite of his either. Although I liked it.

Casey is going down in flames. I'm glad this isn't a genre you guys like, because I do, and these people are murdering it so far.
The thing about singing standards is that they perhaps require more actual singing ability. That's one reason I was impressed with Kris last year, since he's a modern singer who understands how to sing this kind of music like he was born to it, and also has the pipes to do it. People who call him "white guy with guitar" should study that performance.
What Kara said was right. Casey sounded good singing other material because he never had to sustain a note. I noticed the same thing.

Kris tweeted about it. Usually 2nd singles don't get a lot of fanfare though. So this is about usual. They haven't mentioned itunes yet. Which they really should have.
