I don't think you guys like my Eagles scenario (or my earlier Fray scenario). I don't know if I do, either.
MJ listed some more dates where Kris is opening for Barenaked Ladies. I think there were three already, now there are five more. Someone on that blog keeps saying (she thinks) the BNL are the "mystery" headliner, even though this makes no sense, since KAB were already slated to open for them on a few dates even back when Andrew gave his clues. No mystery there. Besides, they're not 'huge'.
This BNL stuff plus K Urban plus TT make me feel Jive is trying to somehow make Kris appeal to a less hip or young demographic than he currently seems to be appealing to! Shouldn't they be scheduling some shows where he opens for (or shares the stage with) bands around his own age? Shouldn't he be playing to some younger audiences (like at some of his radio gigs), or college audiences? This is really beginning to bother me. I know Idol winners are marketed as mainstream artists, and his songs aren't cutting edge, but he's not ... what am I trying to say? Finish my thought, for me. Old? He's not old. I'm much happier with him sharing the stage with Boys Like Girls, The Fray, The Script, One Republic, etc. I think that's his audience, and his potential audience. Keith Urban gigs are awesome, but I wouldn't want a lot of those types of gigs to dominate. They may gain Kris fans, but it's not often older audiences follow bands in their mid-twenties.
Having seen BNL with Kris, I don't think they're a great fit. They never acknowledged Kris, for one thing. They were seemingly oblivious to whatever came onstage before them, and they just sort of took over, and their fans were really just there to see them. (Kris, on the other hand, acknowleged and asked for applause for the two acts that came before him.) I guess they must have liked him enough to agree to him as their opener.
