One thing I like about Mike (there really isn't that much) is how he does know a lot of songs in a lot of different syles. But that wasn't good.

I thought it a okay, solid. Nothing earth-shattering, but it was okay. But it did make me want to listen to David's version again though.

Also, shut up Kara. Had to be said at least once tonight.

You all thought it sucked, so it probably did. I kind of zoned out in the middle, maybe that's why I thought it was okay.

I also heard the country-vibe in Katie's song, ross.

Last year at this time the idols had already been mentored by Randy Travis (Top 11) and Smokey Robinson (Top 10), they had been to Detroit for Motown week and had met Berry Gordy. Frankie Avalon started out the season singing Venus (I think), and I'm not sure who the performers were at this point. But that's another reason this season is so boring. The mentors have sucked and the performers have been boring. (Usher was good, but he isn't exactly Smokey Robinson.)

Crystal...yeah, she has a lot of power in her voice. Not just a powerful voice, but she sounds emotional. Strangely, she doesn't really seem emotional when she sings. She has such a poker face.

I liked it in parts, but ... I don't know. Is it Kris that ruins it for me? I love his version so much, so...

I really like Crystal, it was more uptempo than she's been so it was good. Pretty solid. She's just got a great voice. Funny thing is though, that as much as I really like Crystal I don't feel that she's had a wow moment either.

True Ross. Last year they had some pretty big names as mentors.

All this talk about Adam today made me look up some of the mentors. Wikipedia doesn't list who performed, though. I think Kanye had performed by now last year.

Anyhow, last year, Top 9 and Top 8, there were no mentors. Top 7 had Tarantino.

Gee. They didn't say one good thing about Tim as a person. Just kind of snarked (cutely) on his smile and his hair. (The other idols, I mean.)

Randy was pretty condecending. Stop it Randy.

I thought Tim was pretty good, in a early 60's kind of way so yeah. Pat Boone isn't a bad comparison. I like Tim though. Not enough to pay for his music at this point, but for me it was way better than Aaron and Mike's tonight.

(And yes, that's Shirley Jones again. Maybe I have a thing for her I didn't realize.)

I agree. I'm now thinking that she might not have one in her. Always solid, but never truly spectacular.

LOL, ross, the judges were obviously trying to be nice to Timmy. He was okay, but it was repetitive and as bland as always.
