The new Hanson song made me want to go back and listen to older Hanson music. I listened to Middle Of Nowhere for the first time in a long time and I still love it as much as when I was 14. Completely love it. I'm glad that they're still making good music 13 years later.

So, Archie is the mystery guest for Wednesday's AI episode. And he'll sing Imagine. I think I would have prefered a silly group number. He did Imagine twice two years ago on the show... time for something else.

Also on the show? Jason Derulo and Rihanna. Other performances I'm excited to... not watch.

And while I'm ranting (lol), tomorrow's episode is 2 hours again. Two hours for 9 performances? There's going to be a whole lot of filler in that episode...

Remember that old lady I mentioned who loves Adam? The other day I saw her and she said to me:

"Who's the one who won last year? What's his name?"
"Kris Allen."
(She had to think about it) "Yuh, that's him, I guess. Does he do those commercials, for, what is it?"
"Ford."
"Right. Have you seen those?"
"Yeah."
"What the heck are they supposed to be, anyhow?"
"What?"
"What is that one where the music is in the car forever? What the heck is that?"
"What do you mean?"
"Do you like that one?"
"Why?"
"Well, I thought, 'The music is in the car FOREVER?' What the hell is that supposed to mean? Who wants the music to be in their car forever?"
"Um..."
"So you LIKED that?"

She was kind of kidding me, I think. Because if she was serious she would have seriously provoked me. I wouldn't have been responsible for my actions.

I read this on VFTW:

Just tuned into The Game Show Network and they had a viewer calling into to answer an Idol related question. Question was:

Who won Idol last year?

A. David Cook
B. Jordin Sparks
C. Kris Allen
D. Adam Lambert

Viewer answered right away - Adam Lambert! When they told her the right answer, she said "Who?"

My whole family burst out laughing.

Rumors that Adam will be the mentor next week?? If that happens, I'm finished with this show.

It's funny how much about Hanson I'm hearing lately. You, Siobhan, and that girl form the dream house.. all huge fans of Hanson. :)

Archie's doing Imagine? Why can't he do something else? *whine* I find the repetition frustrating. They need a 3 strikes rule. If it's been performed 3 times it's out forever.

I've always liked Rhianna, so I'm okay with her.. Jason Derulo though.. can't really sing. I do own Watcha Say.. but man, he doesn't do it well live. He'll do seomthing else but .. not looking forward to it.

2 hours for 9 songs that have been cut down to 2 minutes. Argh!

The Club mixes aren't fab I agree. That one's so fast I just picture Kris trying to sing it and keep up with it. LOL. I want a good club mix though. I heard a club mix of WWFM on the the radio on the weekend, it wasn't bad. The Lady Antebellum one though was a big no.

And the Lady who was buggin you about Kris and the commercials.. just proved the point that they are memorable :) She knows you can put the music in the car (forever) Awesome.

Listening to Kris talk about Haiti now. (couldn't they edit these soundbytes together.. frustrating)

(There's video footage from Oxford thingy that's going to be posted tonight!)

... Adam? Mentor? Maybe they could ask Carrie or Kelly or Chris first.

Where does the Adam as a mentor rumor come from? I don't believe it. Or I'm choosing not to believe it. It doesn't make ANY sense.

Yeah, that's how I see it too!

Ha. You guys, I thought the same thing! I was going to say to her, "You remembered it, didn't you?" But I decided not to.

The other thing it pointed up to me was how people who seem to be more literal, or linear, appear to like Adam, and the more esoteric, imaginative people seem to like Kris. That thing about the music being in the car forever was my favorite line in all four commercials. (While this woman didn't like it, or get it.) I don't know why, the line was just was funny/cute, but at the same time, poetic/deep. Kind of like the guy who said it.

You know I'm looking at the HAC chart and finding it really interesting in relation to Kris.

Title TW lw Move Aud
1 1 LADY ANTEBELLUM Need You Now 4725 4616 109 24.081
2 2 TRAIN Hey, Soul Sister 4078 4001 77 21.201
4 3 KRIS ALLEN Live Like We're Dyin... 3766 3721 45 18.314
5 4 DAUGHTRY Life After You 3732 3625 107 18.77
3 5 LIFEHOUSE Halfway Gone 3685 3839 -154 16.843
8 6 THE SCRIPT Breakeven

Kris is playing with Lady Antebellem, and wrote with Daughtry, and sang songs by Train and The Script. (Lifehouse doesn't fit my theory.. but whatever .. they snuck in) Reaffirms my opinion that Kris has good musical instincts when 5 out of the top 6 have some sort of connection to Kris.

I think I have a favorite line in all the commercials. But I think my real favorite is the one where he says "All you have to do is talk. I think most people are pretty good at that", in a deadpan tone. Love it.

Ha! That's interesting, SleepinIn! I pretty much like all of these songs too. I'm sad that there isn't a good francophone HAC station here, I would prefer to listen to that instead of the succession of Kesha, David Guetta and other stupid stuff on the top 40 station.

As for Adam mentoring, that supposedly came from a tweet. A DJ from the midwest, I think. He said RCA informed him Adam would be mentoring and performing next week.

It seems very unlikely. But then again, I suppose it would generate huge buzz/controversy on the boards, as well as media buzz. So who knows? They might do it.

Adam being featured on a whole episode of AI, followed by a performance on the results show, would mean HUGE sales boosts for him. (And huge publicity.) That is what I meant by being done with the show. If they pimp this guy this much, who didn't even know how to win their damn show, I'm done with them. And I'm sick and tired of having him forced on me, also.

That's interesting about the HAC chart, SleepinIn. Also, it's fantastic that Kris is #3 behind two great songs (in my opinion. Though I'm getting a little tired of the somewhat boring Need You Now, already). The thing I thought, too, was, UGH, too bad the two songs ahead of him are those two. Because he has to beat them to get to #1, and that seems hard. They're newer songs for one thing.

For me, the problem is mostly that Adam hasn't done anything (yet) to warrant a mentoring spot on the show. He's still on his first album, he's barely been in the business for a year. I have no problem if he performs on the results show, of course he should do that. But, they should at least have Kelly and/ or Carrie mentor before him. They have several albums under their belts, touring experience, etc. Kelly was great on CI, I don't know why they haven't asked her to be a mentor on AI. I'm sure at lot of AI viewers still love her. So, yeah, Kelly would make sense. Adam? Not so much.

I don't think it will happen though. I hope AI TPTB are not that stupid... but they kind of are, so who knows.

There's also a rumor going around today that Casey James is gay. If you saw Top Idol you know about that one.

Well, yeah, that's the first thing I thought of, too. Not only still on his first album, but he's only done a few performances, actually. It seems like a lot of things with Adam seem to be about getting ahead of himself, professionally. Either it will give him a big career, or make him a flash in the pan. Not sure which. Not sure if it's good strategy or bad (overall strategy, I mean).

But like I said. Being on the biggest hit TV show for a full episode and then the next night, also? That's the kind of big break people dream about. If AI showcases him like that, I'm seriously done.

Yeah, my issue is that Adam hasn't even toured yet. I need a mentor with a little more experience in that area.

I like Adam and I actually think he'd be pretty good at mentoring through the Idol process. But through the music industry? He's still so new at it himself. I'd rather they have Kelly or Carrie too. Kelly was great on CI. I agree. They should have her or Carrie back for mentoring before Adam.

Didn't hear that one. Kara's husband will be happy about that. :)

I thought about the lack of experience too, at first, like I said. But more than that, why should Adam be chosen as a mentor, anyway? Not just over Kelly or Carrie, but over SO many other people. Why over Kris, for that matter? Why the #2 guy? And why over David Cook or Archie or Jordin or whomever? Etc.
