By the way, did you see that new Lady Gaga video? That's the grossest thing I ever saw in a mainstream video. The woman must have no dignity at all. What a total attention-***** (you can't say ***** here, I know). Very sad. And sadder still, she's a big favorite of little kids.

ETA: You know what I always think about, re Kris? The time that big woman wanted to talk him into giving that Mickey Mouse doll (a gift to him from a fan) to her. (On a tour stop. Outside, when he was giving autographs. She said she wanted it for a child, who didn't have much, or something. And she wouldn't back off). The way he handled that. It was all about boundaries. (I know. Don't say it.) He read the situation and he dealy with it, kept his gift, and managed not to offend her. I probably either would have been unable to resist her persisitent begging, or her sob story, or else I would have started to get nervous or angry and told her to go away. Well, this gave me a whole new kind of respect for him.

Even that person who supposedly just discovered Kris and thinks he's fantastic seems like a bogus creation.

Ha! I thought that too. Funny, I don't mind them as much, lol.

I remember that, and I was impressed with that too. You know Kris didn't need another stuffed toy, but he knew how much the person giving it to him would be hurt if he gave it away. I think of that, and the radio interviews when Danny was being dissed or the guy from One Republic, and Kris very nicely told them off. Quiet confidence. Kris has it.

I'm listening to Jake on CHUM's website they were at CHUM's fanfest on Friday night (with Daughtry) and are on the Roger, Darren and Marilyn morning show on Friday morning (very end of the Friday podcast if you listen) Jacob does a quick Daughtry impression - it's hilarious.

Exactly. Plus, it was his gift, it was for him, not her. I mean, I liked his selfishness. When used for good, not evil, as it were.

Haven't watched it yet. Kinda afraid. LOL! I like the song a lot though.

When women performers need to show that...it's all over, for me. It's no different from porn. I just can't say anyone has any respect for themselves who does that. It's kind of sad. And like I said, the kids. Come on.

I should clarify, we all have bodies and it's all natural, and I don't mean kids should be ashamed, or anything. But this is meant to be provocative, which is different. I guess to me this shouldn't be "mass entertainment". I'm not into censorship, but it's more about self-censorship by whoever produces this junk. I mean, have some standards. It's not for the kids.

And Lady Gaga, keep your pants on. God.

So is anyone going to the Idols Revisited concert in Collingwood in April? You know, it would be possible to go to that and also see Jacob (with Faber Drive, Stereos, and Fefe Dobson) -- in Hamilton, all in the same week, almost. Wish I was a little more into traveling, or I was a little more flush right now.

Is there a link (to the Chum stuff)? I'm a lazy bastard. :)

I should mention, last night I re-watched most of Mitch Macdonald's CI stuff. (That Idols concert reminded me, though he's not in it, is he?)

I think it was because you (SleepinIn) mentioned Kris's good tatse in music, and I felt Mitch also had good taste, and original taste. He even did a couple of songs that represented Atlantic Canada, which was cool (and I don't think he did it to get votes, necessarily).

I love certain things about Mitch's singing. He was quite a bit pitchier in his Idol performances than he tended to be elsewhere, though he's always somewhat pitchy. I'm crazy about his version of Postal Service's Such Great Heights (I wish the whole performance was on YouTube, not a partial).

I think all he needs is some vocal coaching and work on his pitch, as well as some of his other, smaller issues. It's weird listening to him, because he'll have the most beautiful sound on a couple of notes, then on the next few, it's like cats in a bag. He has that great tone, at times, the great phrasing, the ability to put a song over, plus a lot of charm, and great taste. I wish he would give it a shot and really work. Of them all, that season, I felt he had the most potential as a pro, if he could just work on a few things.

Nope, not me. Is it at a church?

Yes. Why does that make any difference, though? Would you be struck by lightning, or something? :) Or are you just asking if that's the same show I meant?

I would definitely like this show. I actually liked all these guys.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be flippant. :) I was fishing for a laugh, or maybe a controversy, to liven things up. Not on this thread -- I mean, here, where I am. It has rained cats and dogs (and skunks. And possibly balut) for hours. Hard rain, since early last night. I've sat here most of the day. Now I'm cooking random stuff I have in the refrigerator. Asparagas. Just to do something. I suppose I could clean. Yeah, okay. Right. Ha.

Anyhow, thanks for keeping me company.

I thought seriously of going to Montreal to see Hedley (since that's the closest -- or maybe St. John, NB is -- not sure -- but why go there? Anyhow, I've been there -- and it would be a good vacation to go to Montreal. And see Hedley). I especially like the idea of seeing Hedley and Faber Drive together. But that doesn't look likely. I wish they were touring in the summer. That's more of a possibility.

There is a petition to save Alex Lambert. I never thought more highly of Alex than Lilly. I'd like them both back. But he cried, and I think it must have added to his appeal. After all, he didn't appeal to enough people to get voted through in the first place.

I hope the Idols Revisited thing is done more than once. The only ones who can't participate, probably, are Theo and Mookie, who are with Sony (though what gigs Sony -- or is it 19? -- are getting for Mookie or Theo is anyone's guess. None, it seems like. I don't get that).

Do you think the Keith Urban concerts were ever even listed on KAO? What if they weren't? Did anyone see them? I thought I had. Maybe they weren't removed because they were never there to begin with.

I'm like 95% sure I saw them on KAO. I wanted to make sure before I even considered buying tickets for the Vermont show, so I checked there.

The host at the radio show mentioned that she'd seen them on his website so do think they were there.

I don't know what Sony is doing with Theo and Mookie. So weird.

and I didn't sign the petition. There are no comebacksies. :)

Hm. Which radio show?

That was supposed to be a picture of Wolfgang the skunk, above. Stuff from MJ's blog doesn't come out, for some reason. They do, but then when I log back in to the forum, they're gone.

The last thing Mookie did was to appear at Sears, in a Mall, in Toronto, at around 3pm on a Saturday around Christmas time. Theo had a few tour dates opening for Matt Dusk.

It's like Kalan. He never had any small club dates, or things like that. It's theatre tours, big clubs, or nothing. It's like it would denigrate them to play small rooms, or local fairs, or whatever. I mean, Jason Castro just did an acoustic tour and played in small places. And I'd say he's a bigger name. I think these guys should be out there all the time, like other musicians are. Getting known, trying to be working musicians.

(Maybe they can't get booked, but I find that hard to believe. They're good, even if they have to audition they should be able to get gigs.)

For those who haven't read girlygirl's recap of the LA show on MJ's blog.

Just got back from Kris’s concert at the Grammy Museum. What a fun night! First of all, Kris sounded great. The acoustics in that place are fantastic and it is a small venue — there were probably 100-150 people there. KOh and hey — Jim Cantiello was there! He was quite the celebrity — unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to talk to him. Kris pointed him out at one point and jokingly warned him not to ask any questions during the Q&A. Kris was VERY chatty and funny, talking with the host (Lisa Foxx from KBIG) and the audience. Some cute moments between Kris and Andrew, especially on AWM when Kris asked everyone to sing the “yeahyeahyeahs” in a “sexy voice”
Another funny moment was that Kris and Andrew walked right past us while we were waiting in line outside, but no one reacted ecept in a “oh there’s Kris” type of way. Me, being the unobservant person I am, didn’t even SEE Kris…just Andrew. FAIL.
Andrew has a really nice voice and the harmonies beteen him and Kris were, in general, quite good. And I continue to be impressed at what a good guitarist he is.
Interesting thing is that when Lisa Foxx asked him about touring with Keith Urban, Kris said he wasn’t sure he wasn’t supposed to talk about it, then mentioned that he was geting the throat slash or cut sign from someone (maybe Lizzie or his publicist?)
Ry Cumings, who was he opening act, was good. Seems to be a singer/songwriter type. On one song he brough Jesse from maroon 5 out of the audience to sing harmonies. Evidently the 2 have been friends for years. Ry was very engaging in his banter.
Only downers were (a) no encore and (b) no meet& greet. The crowd was an interesting one in that there were a LOT of men there, and the age range was mainly in the 20’s and 30’s, with a sprinkling of older people and teenagers/kids.
PS: LOTS of people with cameras, so videos should be popping up.

See, that Keith Urban stuff is weird. People have been posting on MJ's that they've already purchsed plane tickets to Vegas and other places, and bought concert tickets.

People say they're just waiting to announce a fuller tour. But it can't be with Keith U, they would have left the info up on Kris's website, since he'd still be doing those dates.

I questioned this on KAO, now a few other people are.

John Mayer has progressed from playing the small clubs of downtown Atlanta to the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, multiple Grammy’s, and possibly his own television variety show on CBS. His summer tour is filled with adoring fans who hold fast to every last soundbite, each screaming guitar solo, and the knowledge that Mayer plays with a passion rarely equaled on stage. GoTickets.com has John Mayer tickets for any stop on his 2009 concert tour schedule, including the best seats in the house that won’t find anywhere else.

John Mayer may possibly have a variety show on CBS??

It's a great idea for musicians to have TV shows. To guest on one of these shows would be great exposure for any musician. Somebody appears on TV and their sales go up.

(I pretty much agreed with everything they said. And, Slezak and his co-host Kate Ward were not big fans of Big Mike either.)

I like their taste.

A agree with them, except about Siobhan, though it's just this thing I have with her tone. I mean, I can see how people would like her, especially this season.
