LOL. Kris is so lazy about the shaving and haircut thing. He'll probably clean up for Valentines day. But we won't see him for ages now. I laughed when the interviewer asked him about pickup lines "hey do you like me?"

Yeah, that was hilarious. "Hey do you like me? I mean, we were fifteen." Something like that.

And Kris is going to get a tattoo? Not even "might" get a tattoo. I was kind of surprised. Kind of disappointed, too.

missaddicted, did you get to see the interview? That site must have had bugs. It froze my cursor and I had to shut the computer down. Then it wouldn't re-start. Maybe that has something to do with why you couldn't watch it. (Or am I getting it mixed up with something else you couldn't watch? Too lazy to go back and read the posts. lol)

Some of the posts u-know-where were kind of ridiculous re the walkout thing. I can't figure out how the glammy fans can go go on and on defending this behavior. What's to defend? The only good thing I can say for them is they didn't walk out during the set. Funny thing is it wasn't their behavior, so it would be easy for them to say, "That sucks, those people were jerks." But I guess that they don't think it does, or that they were.

I answered a post over there from someone I often disagree with, but don't usually answer. I really couldn't believe this post. "Adam should have gone last, then this wouldn't have happened." Huh? Like, Adam's fans will walk if he's not last, so he must go last. I think that's kind of like blackmail. That's not what I posted, but, you get the idea.

By the way, I got lost going to that party, got stuck in traffic, and took almost two hours to get to a place that should have taken about three quarters of an hour to get to.

Funny thing was I missed hearing LLWD (they announced Kris Allen was coming up) because I had to stop and ask for directions. But listening to some Top 40 dance stuff when you're lost and/or stuck can be super annoying. Justin Bieber actually wasn't bad, at least he sings actual songs, and he does one with Ludacris (who I like, more or less. I have a couple of his CDs. He's not my all-time fave, but fun). Now there's an unlikely combo. I'm waiting for Kris and Snoop Dogg to collaborate.

Well, I did say thank you to SleepinIn for posting the second link and that it was working for me, so yes I did watch it! It was interesting, but a bit long. I think it's great if the guy wants to choose questions from fans, but I think he should write down the questions in advance and not take them live, it was tedious. I liked Allison's reaction to Kris eating balut, lol!

You know what I thought? I can't see how Adam would have been pleased with them. He obviously likes Kris and I'm sure he would've prefered his fans to see Kris perform. So, their behavior makes even less sense to me thinking about that because did they really think that by doing that, they would make Adam happy? I don't see how that would have been possible.

I have an honest question. Why surprised or disappointed? I ask because it kind of always makes me angry when I see Cook fans sad or disappointed or angry when he gets a new tattoo. I guess I feel a bit the same when the talk is about haircuts and/or shaving. I cringed when the interviewer asked that fan question about getting a haircut. For me, it just isn't any of our business. If Kris wants to get a tattoo, well who are we to judge? It's his body. I don't know, I guess I just don't get it.

Are there any videos from last night? The Scientist?

EXACTLY! The three of them clearly love each other and respect each other's talent. They must all roll their eyes at this stuff. It's just nutty.

The Scientist!! (hee! Kris forgot the second verse and re-did the first again -- seriously it's awesome)

RE: tattoos's yeah I don't care that much either. He can do whatever, as long as he keeps singing :)

ITA.

Like everything else it's been a little blown out of proportion. Anyway. these weird fans are doing Adam no good at all, that's my feeling. I mentioned some of the stuff they do to the 16 year old kid I work with and said, "Oh, so they're basically like the Clay Aiken fans."

I don't know exactly why Kris is going to Rwanda at this particular time. Haiti, I can understand better. I assume it won't be for all that long. I don't want to be accused of being crassly commercial, but let's face it, this is a pretty important time for him to build on the attention from LLWD, and to go on tour while his Idol win is still fresh in people's minds.

If he was going as a well-known person to draw attention to conditions, that would make more sense to me that just disappearing from view at this time.

Being really crassly commercial (don't shoot me), I actually think Kris's humanitarian efforts will help his popularity, even if he is low key about them (it's not as if people won't know about them). It's just part of the appeal of some artists that they're also good people.

But I have wondered for a couple of weeks now what's happened to the tour that was supposed to be announced this month. Do you guys have any idea why this announcement, or the tour, is being postponed? I know one thing, it's not being postponed so Kris can do charity. If a tour was planned, there's no way it would be put off for that. So for some reason it isn't planned yet.

But do you think it's because they're waiting for the right artist for him to open for, who may be starting to tour somewhat later? Or are they just...well, I give up, I have no idea.

Okay, I'll try to answer. This is a forum and as long as nothing is considered generally offensive, I think it's okay to post about it. Since the looks of celebrites and how people feel about them are usually commented upon on all other forums, I can't see why it surprises you that I'm doing it. I guess I haven't been paying attention, but you have never posted about not liking someone's looks? Or liking them? I mean, would it be okay if I had said I like Kris with stubble, for ex., but if I say I don't like it, I should keep it to myself?

Frankly it seems very normal to me to say how I feel about this stuff. I really don't want to feel inhibited about it. My feeling are my feelings, and I guess I think they're valid.

This is getting a little rule-bound, for my tastes. So, no offense, but if I feel like posting about how I feel about something, I'm going to do it. And that's how I felt. Feel free to ignore it. It sounds a lot like you want to control the discussion and say certain subjects should be off limits.

If I'm reading that wrong, correct me.

I guess my point was not that it's not okay to post whether or not we like or dislike someone's look. My question was, why the disappointment? In my mind, there's difference saying, for example, "I don't like his tattoo" and "I'm so disappointed/angry/sad he got that tattoo". The disappointment somehow implies that the person who got that tattoo did something wrong. I also see a difference between saying "I'm disappointed he decided to do that song that way" and "I'm disappointed he got a tattoo". The song is what makes us fans or not. The tattoo/haircut/stubble is a personal thing in my mind. I could say I don't like his hair, but I would never send him a tweet saying "get a haircut!!!!".

In any case, I wasn't trying to set rules or anything and we can all post about our feelings, but you didn't really answer my question! Why did you choose the word "disappointed" in your post? That's what I don't understand. How can you be disappointed in Kris getting a tattoo that he doesn't even have right now? It's not even a question of liking or disliking it at this point. What if he gets a tattoo that no one will be able to see except him (and Katy I guess!)?

I'm sorry you felt the need to become a little defensive, I just wanted to understand why you felt that way, I was not saying that I didn't want you to express your feelings.

Aww, Kris singing The Scientist was awesome!! Even with the repeated first verse, lol!

About the tour: I'm sure Kris would love to be touring right now, he seems to really really really enjoy performing live (and the rest of the band too). I guess there are no plans set in stone as of yet. It is a bit frustrating, but maybe they're waiting for the perfect opportunity.

It's different from the last one -- I think it is at least.

and touring.. I think they're just trying to gauge which way to go, small or large. And if they go large who is the right act for Kris to tour with. Who's available, who's touring? They haven't lined up their ducks just yet. I think they want to line up the right ducks if that makes sense. Tour's are expensive and they might even be waiting for the next single to come out so Kris has more of a profile musically.

I'm sorry you felt the need to become a little defensive, I just wanted to understand why you felt that way, I was not saying that I didn't want you to express your feelings.

I hope wasn't being defensive. I was expressing my frustration. When I say something such as I don't like Kris with stubble, you usually post something like, "What difference does it make?" or "It's none of our business." As if you're telling me this stuff is none of my business so I shouldn't talk about it. And I want to talk about it.

I ask because it kind of always makes me angry when I see Cook fans sad or disappointed or angry when he gets a new tattoo. I guess I feel a bit the same when the talk is about haircuts and/or shaving.

Since I talked about Kris shaving, I took this to mean it makes you get angry when I talk about that. It's possible I misunderstood you and you were referring to Cook fans. The fact is, I'm starting to avoid talking about my personal reactions to looks (one of my favorite things to talk about) because it doesn't really seem to be accepted.

I also see a difference between saying "I'm disappointed he decided to do that song that way" and "I'm disappointed he got a tattoo". The song is what makes us fans or not. The tattoo/haircut/stubble is a personal thing in my mind.

We'll probably never agree on this. I respect your opinion about it, but I think it's just not natural to say a performer's music is all we're supposed to see when we see the performer.

I think it's the whole package. If it's the whole package with Lady Gaga, or Adam -- if image matters, in their cases, as well as music -- it's also the whole package with Kris or David. It's just a different package. I'm pretty sure there are people who became fans of all these people for their looks. Or for their music and their looks.

As for what's personal, it's so subjective. Kris is going to Rwanda. Is it really our business? Probably not. But will we comment on it? Probably.

It's their choice to be in the public eye. Nobody's making them. If David Cook gets a tattoo, there are going to be people who think he shouldn't. I'm sure he knows he has to deal with that. It's real life. If he or Kris or whoever don't want to be noticed, they wouldn't be doing what they're doing.

There are plenty of musicians who aren't performers. But these musicians have chosen to be performers. And that goes with the territory.

I think that a performer's personal life is as personal as they want to make it. For instance, Kris was asked if he was getting a tattoo. He could have said, "That's nobody's business," or "No comment," but he answered that he was getting one. He chose to share the info. His choice, not mine. So I figure I have a right to have an opinion or about it, and what I feel about it, I have a right to that, also.

Celebs know none of our business while we know a lot of theirs. Is it our business? Not exactly. But we know it, and anything we know, we're going to have opininons and feelings about. That's why I think it's sort of unnatural to ask anyone to separate their knowledge of something from their reactions to it or their feelings about it.

Kris said he was getting a tattoo, I reacted. To me, that's very natural. I didn't ask myself if this was all about music, and if not, maybe I shouldn't comment on it.

Well, I guess I said I was disappointed because I don't want him to be like every other tattooed pop/rock star. I guess I like how he looks now. I really don't know. It was just a feeling I had. Can't always explain why I feel something. I guess I never thought it would be such a big deal.

Somebody posted this today, in yesterday's headlines thread on the blog. The discussion there was about the walkout dring the Kradison concert.

Hey all, I have a friend who was VIP who was at the concert. She said that the group of people who left in mass after Adam’s set were from a show that was filming or something. Some soon to air program called Dreamers. She said they left because their shooting or whatever was done. She said there was NOT a mass exodus of Adam fans after his set. So maybe a few( who knows) but she said the group was from that show.

That remix of LLWD is annoying! It seems like a hard song to do a remix of. (A hard song of which to do a remix? Whatever.) I've actually heard a lot better remixes of songs like LLWD.

ETA: The above quote is weird. It sounds vaguely like people were extras hired for a show that was being filmed at the concert and when they were done (after Adam's set, for some reason), they left. Glamberts for hire??

I've been watching the Meet Ball videos, which remind me of the Bosom Ball videos. I really hate listening to the audience gabbing!! But then I have to say, thank goodness for YouTube, which lets us see/hear all this stuff.

Okay, just my opinion but I think... Kris shouldn't go onstage and sing something he doesn't really know well. Not only is he doing a performance, but he's on YouTube to be seen all over the world. I mean, it's cute, and people probably like it, and all, but it's a little risky.

Well, you know, I think we'll just have to agree to disagree ross. I'll always believe that what a singer decides to do with his body/hair, etc is none of our business and I certainly won't stop thinking it or commenting about it if the context is right. I personally don't think that what musician/performers look like is important and it certainly isn't for me. Lady Gaga has a very visual style, but she made on mark first on the radio with her catchy songs, independently of her looks. I listen to tons of bands and for a lot of them, I have no clue what they look like. I went to see Hey Rosetta last December and it was only when they came onstage that I realized that the singer was actually pretty hot, lol. So, I don't have an opinion on Kris getting a tattoo, it just doesn't matter to me. I wanted to understand why it mattered for some people, not only in your case, but in the case of a lot of people different fandoms. That's why I said it was an honest question, it wasn't meant to be snarky or anything, I was curious.

So this:

I hope wasn't being defensive. I was expressing my frustration. When I say something such as I don't like Kris with stubble, you usually post something like, "What difference does it make?" or "It's none of our business." As if you're telling me this stuff is none of my business so I shouldn't talk about it. And I want to talk about it.

I'll just have to respect the fact that you want to talk about it and you'll have to respect the fact that I want to talk about the fact that I feel that type of stuff doesn't matter. I never said you couldn't talk about it, but yes, I do honestly feel it's none of our business.

Kris said he was getting a tattoo, I reacted. To me, that's very natural. I didn't ask myself if this was all about music, and if not, maybe I shouldn't comment on it.

Again, I never said that I didn't want you to react to it, I wanted you to explain your reaction to me, because I just don't really understand it, that's it. It's not a big deal, or I didn't think it was, I just wanted to understand something that somewhat bothers me about fandom.

The mass exodus from the filming that sounds weird doesn't it? I mean it may or may not be true, but no one else commented on them filming anything. Who knows? Maybe they were doing it in the VIP area? Anyway, ultimately whoever they were missed an awesome show, so whateva to them.

Were there more Meet Ball videos? I've only saw the Scientist and an interview. And if Kris doing covers he doesn't know brings me them doing the Scientist.. I'm all for it. :p

Well, you know, I think we'll just have to agree to disagree ross. I'll always believe that what a singer decides to do with his body/hair, etc is none of our business and I certainly won't stop thinking it or commenting about it if the context is right.

missaddicted, I wasn't suggesting you stop thinking or commenting about anything. It just seemed to me you were trying to narrow the discussion, based on your ideas of what is "our business." And I really think that's subjective. It seemed like you were suggesting certain things should be off limits. If you didn't mean that, I guess I assumed wrong.

Of course you should feel free to comment on what you think is none of our business. (And I'll feel free to decide for myself what I think my business is, I guess.)

I personally don't think that what musician/performers look like is important and it certainly isn't for me.

I think you're in the minority on this. Elvis, Mick Jagger, Backstreet Boys, whoever. Not just all about the music. I don't think it matters whether they were popular on radio first. Pop and rock always have been about a combination of looks, fashion, music.

I think perhaps what bothers you is, like, say, when Cook fans act like they own him, in the sense of: "He has no right to get a tattoo!-- He never consulted me!" If so, we actually agree. Like if Kris wants to get a tattoo, it's literally none of my business and I don't really care. Just like, if I want to get a tattoo, it's none of his business.

I think you feel this issue very strongly, and maybe (?) you over-react when someone is just commenting on this stuff? Because I can't see how commenting on stuff and offering an opinion constitutes trying to mind the business of the other person.

I know, I didn't think you were being snarky. I don't know the answer. It's like a gut reaction. Like, Daughtry fans might say, "I'm disappointed he grew his hair." I think this is being overanalyzed, because it seems like everyone has an opinion about this stuff, and it's not unusual. I never heard anyone seriously say it's not our business, before you, so I guess I don't know how to react to that.

Again, I never said that I didn't want you to react to it, I wanted you to explain your reaction to me, because I just don't really understand it, that's it. It's not a big deal, or I didn't think it was, I just wanted to understand something that somewhat bothers me about fandom.

Yeah, I don't get why it bothers you, I guess. My reaction was based on curiosity and fascination. When you get to that point, you feel you identify with the person. Maybe I didn't think he was the type to get tattooed, and I admired him for that, and so now I'm disappointed. I don't know. I don't think that's it, but it's one possibility.

You don't really know the person. But, of course, you form ideas about what they're like. Then you have to constantly revise these ideas. I think this is called adjusting your worldview.

missadicted, I think you're sometimes saying, overall (in a lot of your posts), that it really is wrong, or a little sick, to identify strongly, as a fan, with a performer. I don't really know if I agree with this. I think it's harmless, in most cases, and it makes people feel good, and it makes them feel less lonely, maybe.

SleepinIn, I read this on the blog.

bummer that script jumped over wwfm at the last minute but wwfm has had a terrific week of mostly 3 digit updates on pop every day and its bullet is strong. It is doing well and should continue to rise up the pop chart (and hac). It has some tough competition around it but it still is on the upswing and I expect it to continue to do well. The lack of cumuls adds is
but overall I do not think you can say that radio is treating the song badly. Seems to be doing pretty well at radio.

I wasn't. Why would I do that? When I say stuff like that, it's merely my opinion. ross, please don't feel as though I was trying to prevent you saying your opinion. It was just your use of the word "disappointed" that I was trying to understand. I was not questionning the fact that you have an opinion about it, I was trying to understand that opinion!

I think bothers you is, like, when Cook fans act like they own him, in the sense of: "He has no right to get a tattoo.-- he never consulted me!"

If so, we actually agree because I feel the same way. Like, Kris, if he wants to get a tattoo, it's literally none of my business and I don't really care. Just like, if I want to get a tattoo, it's none of his business.

And yes, that is exactly what bothers me. Why would people care about someone else that they don't know getting a tattoo? I don't understand it. At all. Mainly, it isn't even interesting to me. When Kris said that yeah, maybe he would get a tattoo, it just didn't trigger any thoughts in me. Tell me about your tour, about your next single, about the latest song you covered. Getting a tattoo? Ah, okay. I just don't really care about it.

But, missadicted, I think you're sometimes saying, overall (in a lot of your posts), that it really is wrong, or a little sick, to identify strongly, as a fan, with a performer. I don't really know if I agree with this. I think it's harmless, in most cases, and it makes people feel good, and it makes them feel less lonely, maybe.

More or less. It's a fascinating subject for me though. There's a fine line between being a fan and being over-invested, I believe. I've seen some Cook fans being way way over-invested and I don't think that's a positive thing at all. There are so many things to enjoy in music, and in life, why spend all your energies discussing one artist, going to his shows only, examining everything he does, complaining about stuff, being worried about him. Yes, being a fan includes some of that stuff, but sometimes it gets scary and isn't harmless at all. And here, I'm not talking about you, I'm talking about fandom in general. I don't know, sometimes fandom is great, but sometimes it's frustrating or it makes me roll my eyes. I just don't really identify with the artists I like on a personal level, I just like them because they produce good music, that will make me happy, sad, or inspire me. I will identify with them if they produce music I can identify with. I guess I just care about Kris and David on a personal level because of AI, because otherwise, I think I would just enjoy the music and that's it.

Nice post.

I actually think I like Kris as much for who he is as for his music. I never think about separating these elements. On Idol, I definitely flipped for Kris because of things like how he reacted to being voted through, along with his voice and his taste in music, etc.

I tend to think of Kris as a person, too, not just a musician, and I definitely think actually meeting him and having a conversation and shaking his hand made me feel a bit more like I knew him. Same with his band. Of course, I don't know them, but you do get slightly more knowledge of people meeting them face to face. Just because he was such an awesome guy, and his band was so cool and friendly, I feel more invested in them since then. Like their success or failure means a little more to me now.

By the way, I do think guys identify more with people they admire, and also tend to hero-worship more. When we like male performers in any invested sense, they usually tend to have something in them we identify with.
