I was at a party tonight and the conversation got around to my having seen Kris perform back in December, etc., and one person said, "You don't hear that much about him." (Though she had heard LLWD on the radio, and had heard about the Kradison concert last night-- apparently that got some media attention. She had heard nothing about the Jingle Balls or the Asia mini-tour).
I told her what some of Kris's performances are like, now, and how funny he is in his interviews, etc. She said "Good! Because he's a nice guy and even was so humble he said Adam should have won. I'm glad he's coming into his own." She then made a comment that kind of surprised me, about how he was so good-looking and talented, basically, fan-and-radio-friendly, that he could have just acted like he deserved it when he won, and taken all the glory for himself, but instead he was really nice to give all that credit to Adam. It was kind of like she was saying Adam was the underdog. Interesting.
We then talked about how he tends to lay low, and I mentioned how he's going to Rwanda, and Haiti, etc., and she was like, "He redefining what it means to be a star." Meaning (I guess): he's not about the attention or the hype.
We then compared notes on the Idols concert (she was at the one I was at, but we never ran into each other).
