This is some thread ya'll got going.

I think we got a little chatty. 8O Oops!!!

I'm kind of confused how new artists without any money (which is most artists when the do their first videos/tours) can afford to pay for anything. Like, Jacob and Hedley, back in 2006. They did a video for On My Own and went on tour. But where did the money come from? He was a 20 year old carpenter's apprentice. I guess that's why I assumed the record company financed certain things.

It's confusing for sure. It depends on their contract of course, but typically record companies will front artists money for tours, videos etc. But ultimately it comes out of their pockets - somehow. I think Matt Good talked about it lately on a podcast - maybe on Explore the Music. Where he said that when his band broke up he was in debt to the record company for about a million dollars.

This article is really interesting in regards to music, and money.

We're good at getting chatty, aren't we?

A few weeks ago, I saw an article about the music industry where an artist (I don't remember who it was, maybe a guy from Metallica, or Bon Jovi? Anyhow, it was a guy from a popular band) said that record companies were like banks. They loan you money, but you always have to pay them back. That article you posted SleepinIn (thanks BTW, I found it really interesting) seems to confirm that.

Hey, I finally gave Kris' album to my mom at the beginning of January (with a few other albums). I asked her tonight if she had listened to them and she said that she had listened to two: Mika and Kris. I asked if she liked Kris' album and she said that she loved it! Yay!

I think I found my new drug: thesixtyone - a music adventure

On thesixtyone, new artists make music and listeners decide what's good. We're nurturing a growing ecosystem where talented folks can sell songs and merchandise directly to their fans. Unlike a record or distribution deal where they only make $1-2 per album (if they ever get paid, that is), artists on thesixtyone make at least $7 per album and are paid every 30 days -- no wait for recoupment and no complex royalty schemes!

We're named after Highway 61, a U.S. route that runs along the Mississippi River and marks the origin of American music culture. Muddy Waters, Bob Dylan and B.B. King rode the 61. Elvis grew up in the housing projects along it. Highway 61 was the road by which people left their homes to take their music to the world.

Someone on the blog writes:

KRIS FANS, IF YOU’RE ON TWITTER, “RT” this and see if he wears it. Or you can follow me and retweet my retweet (ha)

“@KrisAllen You know that white long-sleeved shirt you wore for your Cebu concert? You should wear that one tomorrow. It’s pretty.”

Holy crap, leave the guy alone and let him wear whatever the hell he wants.

missaddicted, that's great your mother liked Kris's CD (how did she like Mika?)...

Okay, I came on here pretty late, and everyone seems to have gone to bed, so Mary and I will say good night now.

Also, you might enjoy this post on Top Idol called:
Feather boas, fire, serpants and pretty young things (Irony is funny).

No tweeting Kris about wardrobe. No, just no.

I love the new Fusion commercials - looks like they will debut on tv the 15th - Kris sounds great in his and the use of his music is wonderful!

The Ford Story: Drive One: Take Seven

ETA: Just listened to it. Glen couldn't remember Kris' name (oops!), but still it's flattering for Kris that Glen thought that the mash-up was clever (his word) enough to do it himself.

Oops! Lol - but it's cool that he saw Kris singing the mash-up and liked it enough to do it and mention Kris. Even it's only as the guy that won American Idol.

This is a link for the Florida station that Kris and Allison are playing tommorrow. They're doing a video interview or something tommorrow.

Here is the exact link to our live video chat with Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta Saturday at 4pm ET! Got your... Here is the exact... | Facebook

I'm seriously addicted to Kris's candid videos they're so funny.

(and Mary is hella annoying. I take back my love for her audition) & Top Idol blog was funny

I wonder if Adam regrets not getting the hybrid now?

The use of Alright With Me in the commercials....significant? What was the other (instrumental) snippet? Written All Over My Face?

last chance to vote for LLWD on VH1.

I figured there would be a live stream...maybe I'll listen later. I'm watching the Olympics and they're showing Ford comericals. :) Ford Flex, at the moment, not Fusion. But let's hope.

Yeah, I figured you were ross! And SleepinIn is watching on CTV and me on V in Québec (or RDS, the sports channel, they're airing the same thing). Oh and SleepinIn, I just saw your comment about CTV vs. CBC on twitter and yeah, I'm already missing Radio-Canada as well.

That live stream is showing Allison, even though I think Adam is on now. (I don't get it.) Are there any live streams? SleepinIn, you know everything. Let me know if you find any.
