Isn't the certain person a mega fan of the certain performer? Or I have no clue who you're talking about.

(How come you're not in the chat, I want juicy details from last night!)

I find the Much fascination with Adam and FYE kind of uncalled for (lol). Seriously, do you think TPTB are pushing the "international star" angle and using Canadian media as some kind of testing ground?

I can't imagine why the kiddies would look bored with a video where dark, brooding people perform weird sadomasochistic acts miles under the urban streets. After all, doesn't that reflect the life of the average Canadian teen? And it's such an upbeat, fun tune. I give it a six, because you can really dance to it.

They may actually be using the sneak attack thing. Canada has typically been friendlier ground for a lot of pop-ish acts. So many have been big here first and then blew up in the US. It's a smaller market so it's easier to saturate it. Of course, there are tons that have disappeared into the mist never to be heard from again.

Plus, I think we just generally don't care about the personal side of an artist's life. I mean we do(it's not like we don't buy People magazine, or Us Weekly), but we really don't, if that makes sense. (For instance: Are Brian Melo and Tara Oram still together? I have no idea.. I think no.. but no idea) And I follow this stuff.

Still with youtube, media travels really well, so if you get on a tv show in the UK, it's still seen here. Or if Adam is on tv in Canada, it's still available on youtube. Plus there is the voting thing, reality tv fans just can't resist a good vote off. Give us a poll and we're happy.

Adam is playing the Vevo launch tonight, lots of tweets about it (which seems like a big thing.. I don't really know what Vevo is, other than it's somehow connected to youtube)

Oh, yeah, I forgot! The Much countdown! Of course, Adam's fantards are voting for him en masse. Which may explain the bored look on the kids' faces. It's like Kalan's fans who kept voting Hooray into the top 10 on Much, but (even though it was a fairly popular video, I guess) the kids looked bored when he came on the show and played it. Most of his fans were outside the window.

Musical identity and Adam:

Interesting. I think Adam think's he's a dance/electronica/pop artist. And he can probably do that, but right now the theatre background is hindering him to a certain extent. When he was talking about FYE on the AMA's and performing the song by doing a literal interpretation onstage I have to admit to cringing just a little.

BUT, I think Adam's great and really talented, and he's spinning around as fast as he can right now, I think he'll eventually find his "door" (Being Erica reference, lol) and he'll be fine.

Ha, I linked to that article on TWoP today.

Great minds think alike, lol :)

Most of his fans were outside the window.

Yep, and most of Adam's are not in that room either. (yet) I don't think they'd ever heard the song to tell the truth.

Hee!

LOL, that picture is hilarious! Where did they get those shirts? I hope it wasn't a fan gift...

I'll have to watch Being Erica tonight, looks like it was good!

I don't think Adam's fans are ever going to be in that room. I could be wrong. I'm surprised Adam connects with any kids (though he seems to, at times -- he has young fans). I think part of the problem is he hasn't really lived in the world outside theatre, for a long time. Meaning: he seems to need to filter all his experiences through some sort of theatrical framework and perform in a way that doesn't have much emotional honesty. That may pass in theatre, but in pop, I don't know. If he could sing a song about what it's like to go on a first date, or lose a friend, or something, maybe he'd connect to young people. Or any people. I think he's just about artifice, but can that work? He's not Lady Gaga. For one thing, he can no longer create an illusion like that, because people know him too well. He's been on a reality show and we know he's a kid from San Diego who loves his mom. It doesn't work. Just my opinon. If he ever can stop hiding behind all this artifice, and honestly sing something, then I think he will engage younger fans, or just people -- rather than fantards.

Yeah, I agree with this. And truthfully, who needs another Lady Gaga? Isn't one enough? I think she's crazy talented but seriously, she's exhausting, I'm tired of the costumes to tell the truth.

Who needs the original Lady Gaga? [/snark]

So LLWD is about #31 on iTunes overall, #19 on iTunes pop. Not too shabby!

Waiting for SYTYCD.

I keep thinking about that show night before last. Kris was SO GOOD, you guys. The band was awesome too. (I actually think mj's videos are some of the best of Kris and the band out there right now.*) I love that picture with the tie-dye shirts. Any more info about that?

*Have you noticed how hard it is to find his videos, though? I have to put "kris allen" in quotes, now. There are too many kris's and and allen's out there.

Just watched Kris. (It was nice that they fitted him and his little tune in, considering La Glambert is closing the show next week.) They did a good job, they sound really tight, now. The audience seemed really into it. Screaming, etc. I'm getting to be quite the fanboi, I recognized the bass Chris was playing from the other night when I saw them.

Glee is on now. I'm trying to watch it, but...

Just watched Kris as well! Sounded awesome!

Just a few questions though... did they sound different? Somethings stood out to me tonight, but I don't know if it's because I never concentrate on them or if they did things differently. Mainly, did they add tracks to the song? I mean, we heard the strings that are in the recorded version tonight. Could have been the keyboard, but Cale seemed to playing something else. Also, the oh-oh-oh's in the chorus. They sounded exactly like in the recording, I don't remember hearing them before when they performed the song and I couldn't figure out who was singing them!

I think I'll go compare with previous performances...

Oh, and I watched Being Erica. It was indeed excellent. And I totally cried.
