I don't think Adam's fans are ever going to be in that room. I could be wrong. I'm surprised Adam connects with any kids (though he seems to, at times -- he has young fans). I think part of the problem is he hasn't really lived in the world outside theatre, for a long time. Meaning: he seems to need to filter all his experiences through some sort of theatrical framework and perform in a way that doesn't have much emotional honesty. That may pass in theatre, but in pop, I don't know. If he could sing a song about what it's like to go on a first date, or lose a friend, or something, maybe he'd connect to young people. Or any people. I think he's just about artifice, but can that work? He's not Lady Gaga. For one thing, he can no longer create an illusion like that, because people know him too well. He's been on a reality show and we know he's a kid from San Diego who loves his mom. It doesn't work. Just my opinon. If he ever can stop hiding behind all this artifice, and honestly sing something, then I think he will engage younger fans, or just people -- rather than fantards.
