Talking to her was interesting. Some of the stuff we talked about I'll have to tell you on the chat. I think you'll enjoy it.

Anyhow, the venue is very nice, maybe not quite as elegant as it appears in pictures/video, but nice. Basically big hallway runs through the center from the front doors to the rear doors, and the actual hall where they played is above it on the 2nd floor. The performers must have to enter/exit through the public doors (in the rear).

It was just a coincidence that I left at the right moment during the Barenaked Ladies' encore (God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen). I walked down by the back doors but I didn't expect to see the guys -- but right away they got out of the elevator, and I just told them they were awesome, and then I walked out with them, and I called all three of them by name (this was Ryland, Chris, and Andrew -- Kris wasn't there yet). They seemed happy I knew their names. I actually forget what we were talking about, but I ended up walking with and talking to Ryland. I asked him where they were going now, and he said "back to the hotel, I guess", but what I meant was "Where are you going next?" so I said that. Chris said "To LA." And Andrew said, "We're doing So You Think You Can Dance. What night is it?" Chris: "I think it's Wdnesday -- no, Thursday." (None of them were sure. I'm not, either.) So then Ryland asked me my name, and where I was from, etc., and we talked a little more, and there were a few girls at the bus who wanted to take pictures with them, so then I left. But it was funny, Chris patted me on the back and one of them shook my hand -- I mean, they were really familiar and friendly, which is not what I'm used to when meeting performers.

So I went back in and walked up this small flight of stairs to go down that middle hallway to the front door (where I was parked), and I don't know why I turned around but when I did, back down the stairs where I just had been, was Kris. He was with that blonde girl who's his publicist or something.

So to keep him there I just said, "Kris, you were amazing." And he said, "Thanks, man." And I said, for some reason, "Can I meet you?" And I walked down and shook his hand. (He didn't have a strong or a weak grip, kind of medium, and his hand was a little moist) (Hey, you want details? Of course you do.) I said, "I'm so glad to meet you," and I really, really was. I was so happy. It was funny. He said he was glad to meet me, and he actually seemed totally sincere, like he could drop everything at that moment and talk only to me. So I just thanked him for the show, and told him he was awesome, and again how I was glad I met him, and he really seemed taken with it all, as if people don't say this same stuff to him 50 times a day. He made me feel like I mattered to him. What an incredible guy, seriously. He was super nice! And his speaking voice is incredible. I mean, it sounds just like how he sings. (Naturally.)

I was pretty tongue tied and should have taken the opportunity to tell him what a fan I am, or how I like particular things, songs, whatever, but I didn't want to bug him so I just told him I'd see him on TV this week and I left.

And then when I was driving home, I had on MIx104.1 and they said "New MUsic BY Kris Allen" and played LLWD. The first time I heard it on the radio. The DJ said afterwards, "Amazing song, isn;t it?"

Joshua Radin and Ingrid Michaelson were excellent!!! They both were very funny. She could actualy do stand-up. Sny time you get a chance, they are both worth seeing. BNL I can live without, but they're good musicians. I just think they're totally on a different wavelength than me, and not funny.

...
31 47 KRIS ALLEN 19/JIVE/ZLG 22,699 -35% KRIS ALLEN

The numbers are pretty brutal for all of Kris, Adam and Allison. Adam took a plunge out of the top 20, even with all the buzz about him. Allison debuted at # 34 and Kris is down to # 47. Ouch.

(Of course, these are predictions, but final numbers should be close.)

And during that time, SuBo sold platinum in two weeks. Depressing.

Eh, it's all hype. As was Adam. Hype is your friend. If Adam had not gotten mega-publicity for a) being gay, b) being gay, and c) being famboyantly, unapologetically, cross-dressingly, makeup-and-nail polish-wearingly gay, I doubt he would even have sold as much as Kris. Because despite his mega-hype, his numbers are still not spectacular.)

I saw some excellent people perform yesterday who aren't on that list, maybe never will be on that list...but they aren't starving, and maybe they're growing more popular. Not everyone can be SuBo.

And few people want to be like SuBo. Maybe Kris and Adam and Allison will have to sell CDs the old fashioned way. Touring, touring, and more touring.

Oh, yeah, and SuBo is about 47, so, with the kind of voice she has, in ten or twenty years she'll hardly even be able to sing the way she sings now. So good luck to her, I wish her (and her cats) well. You just know fame and fortune is not going to bring the poor thing happiness, and she'll very likely end up sprawled in a gutter in Majorca, a cigarette in one hand and an empty bottle of Gordon's gin in the other.

I was not, sorry!!!

Yes, that's true. Most of the artists I listen to would love to have numbers like Kris, I bet. I guess it's all a question of perspective.

SuBo is the BEST thing that ever happened to the world of music!! She'll be a legend. The MOST beautiful voice EVER! How dare you say anything negative about her????

What's the performance you posted SleepinIn, I think I'm still confused with all the appearances. SYTYCD is tomorrow, right?

I'm sorry. But she's just not as beautiful as Adam Lambert. OMG, yesterday I touched a person who touched Adam Lambert!!! I'll never wash again! (Hm. That may not be a good idea.)

OMG, did Kris have surgery? He replaced his head with a speaker? How weird!

I like that look. Shut up.

Yeah, it was touch and go for awhile there. But he's pulled through remarkably.

(LMAO) :)

and Connecticut I think... SYTYCD is tommorrow, yep. LLWD's itunes sales are pretty good. It's hovering in the 30's. Another clue that radio/video is the key, Adam's FYE is doing the same on itunes Canada.

Much Music is playing FYE - it's been voted into the top 5 videos (that's all they play - lol) It was # 4 Hedley was #1 :) The funny thing is that they show the audience throughout the video, OMG, did they ever look bored. Kinda funny actually. But that would change the more the song is played on the radio or on Much. (still bitter that CHUM/CTV/Much won't play Kris) Plus, Sarah and Devon are really pushing the video. Maybe if they get it airplay they will bring CI back so Adam can come sing on it.. I'd be down with that. lol

A certain person told me yesterday she thinks a certain performer has never found his musical identity and that a certain label is still trying to figure out that performer's musical identity. And is flailing about. Agree? Disagree? Discuss.
