JEMMA! (you're here!) LOL - Glad you posted and had a great time at David's concert - it's also good to know he had a good crowd at Rama. Your right that's awesome for a Monday night, and any other night actually.

Ross - those covers are good - hee - well it's good to see them ;) That top one has an amazing camera - I totally want it. You're right people don't cover songs that they don't connect to in some way. So I think it's a good sign too.

We've seen it I think but here's Regis and Kelly from their website

According to someone on mj's blog Kris has cracked the Top 20 on HAC.

And he now has over 120,000 followers on twitter. I think I said he was close to 200,000, at some point, because I confused 119,000 with 199,000. Oops.

Ha! I really wanted to watch, so I managed to be subtle and watch it while eating! I can do whatever I want during my lunch time, right?

Anyway, it's a really really good interview. *hugs Slezak*

Gah! That version of Permanent is heartbreaking.. *sniff*

Slezak rules - that was an awesome (7 part!) interview. Is it bad to want even more? lol

Slezak interview -- Once again, all I can think of is how positive Kris is and how it radiates from him. The is what I believe is true 'confidence', and not the bravado Simon was apparently trying to get him to display. He's confident enough to be without any false pride, if that makes sense. Oh, he has insecurity -- what performer doesn't? But he has a certain core confidence that seems pretty solid.

Also, he's probably the most charming person I have ever seen. I mean, seriously.
One of the most, anyhow.

ETA: I disagree with Slezak about Before We Come Undone, I just don't see this as a great single. And, I Need To Know as a single? I don't know. I still vote for Alright With Me and Can't Stay Away. At the moment.

YES. To the sense of self and inner confidence, and charm.

Did you see this? So funny.

That's where I am too. My next two would be Bring It Back, or the Truth.

Interview with Hedley from Musique Plus

and they were on MOD yesterday (with Cory from GLEE!!! :) -- when fandoms collide, lol) and actually Cory and Dave ended up being out to dinner together. I guess they have a former band mate in common. Interesting.

I think Before We Come Undone is actually a favorite for quite a few people, and I think it would actually make a really good second single. My personal favorites would probably be Alright With Me and Red Guitar though. But I don't believe either either Red Guitar or I Need to Know will ever become a single.

Kris tweeted that he filmed a promo for Idol yesterday. I wonder if it will be similar to David's promo that aired in December last year (with Light On playing backwards!):

YouTube - American Idol Season 8 Promo Commercial

Fans really liked that promo since it was yes, a promo for Idol, but also a promo for David.

Billboard magazine Q & A: Music News, Reviews, Articles, Information, News Online & Free Music | Billboard.com

It seems Adam and Kris will be on the cover of next week's issue, did I get that correctly? And Adam actually has a feature about him, while Kris has this short (but still interesting) Q & A?

It seems really crazy, Adam has all these really high profiles gigs coming up, but FYE is actually losing spins on the radio and Whataya is barely gaining any (while TfM has spins on like, one AC station or something). He's lucky he's a media darling at this point because radio doesn't seem to love him that much. All these gigs might help the radio airplay though, we'll see.

The extra footage of Kris with Jim Cantiello is up and it's hilarious!!

MJ has the cover up on her blog. Yeah, Adam has an article and Kris has a Q & A, who knows why? I don't think it matters much. Kris is given first billing on the cover, and he has the hit single.

Adam is going to sell a lot of albums, though, right? Aren't the pre-orders huge? He's going to be all about the showmanship, anyhow -- maybe he'll be a radio star or not, but I think he's more about the performance.

I don't know how things will work out, but if AI is any indication, people don't want to be told they should like somebody, or who is a star. They want to discover this stuff for themselves. A lot of media coverage won't make Adam a star. It may make him a celebrity, but that's different. He has to win people over on his own.

Oh, almost forgot. I broke my own rule today and went into Wal-mart for the first time for over a year! I hate that place! But, yeah, I did. I bought copy #2. Had to own the Daughtry song (I like it -- nothing special, but pretty). They had a lot of copies. I don't know if that's good or bad. Adam's "fake" CD was also on sale. I'm surprised Wal-Mart is carrying that.

Thanks for Kris's appearances! I was getting a bit confused. So he's presenting at the Awards on Sunday? I didn't even know that. Also, I'm excited for the AOL sessions... which I didn't know about either! I have to remember to record Ellen on Monday, for Kris, and also Regis & Kelly, for Cook.

Wal-Mart? Oh noes! LOL. At least, if they had a lot of copies, people can actually buy them!

Adam is going to sell a lot of albums, though, right? Aren't the pre-orders huge?

I'll believe it when I see it!

ETA: Just watched the KRIM videos! LMAO! "If we eat this whole cake, we'll be living like we're dying."

You know, this is just the beginning of a future full of Kris Allen snark.

A reviewer from the OC snarks on Adam and Kris. Ouch.

Kris Allen, Adam Lambert total poseurs on debuts - Soundcheck : The Orange County Register

Another great student review:

Kris Allen's self-titled album is a success - Reviews

The comments under the review are also very positive.

I'd be happy enough if Kris appeals more to actual people, so to speak, than to big newspaper critics and their ilk. A career built from the ground up is really more solid. The fans are more likely to like you for who you are, more likely to stick, maybe.

Quote from that article:

As someone who does not avidly watch "American Idol," I must say that this is one of the best albums I have heard from one of its contestants. I can only imagine how much more pleasing it will be for someone who became a fan of Kris Allen while watching the show.

I'm glad that that Billboard article empahasized this (of course, it's Billboard, so they would):

"Kris Allen" (19 Recordings/Jive) was released November 17, and odds are good that Allen can build off his digital-single sales success from "American Idol." To date, Allen has sold 1.1 million copies of tracks he performed on the show, according to Nielsen SoundScan, led by his version of the show's coronation song "No Boundaries" with 312,000. Allen sold more total "Idol" tracks than runner-up Adam Lambert (997,000) or fourth-place finisher Allison Iraheta (79,000).
