The description of the video sounded awful (Adam walking through dead bodies and flying arms and stuff -- it sounded hilarious). It looks very old fashioned. But obviously the song is selling. Just as you predicted.

Funny, tonight I feel very positive about Kris (if I may change the subject back to Kris). I keep thinking of Jordin and Archie -- Jive artists. I think Jive has done well by them, without the need to have them headline at Madison Square Garden.

Why does no one ever predict Kris will be a huge star, btw? Even his fans always begin sentences with "I don't expect Kris to be a superstar," and "I will be happy if Kris makes a comfortable living at what he loves." What if he just happens to become a superstar? Stranger things have happened!

Hey, I keep forgetting ... crap, now I forgot. It was good, too. Dang.

Do we even see Adam in that video? The song still bores the hell out of me and the movie is definitely something I won't go see.

Another thing I forget is that NB hit number one on iTunes. Why is this forgotten?
Granted, it was only a couple of days, but so what? Kris had a #1 song on iTunes.

I wouldn't count Kris out of anything. When you see Jim Cantiello come back from vacation to interview Kris I think it really says something. And I know it's his job to cover the Idol beat and all, but he didn't just cover it, he was drunk tweeting it.

That's a step above and beyond your job description I think. I actually think all three of them - Kris, Adam and Allison really have something special. And I don't know if the general public will really know that until they are all looked at separately.

But for me Kris is just kick awesome. :) And I agree about Jive, I've liked what they did with Jordan and David A. I don't think slow is a bad thing. And actually the single is doing really well on multiple formats.

I actually think this is why LLWD didn't get the usual Idol sales boost when it came out. LLWD is really the second single. (even if I hate NB) Then there are the sales of Heartless, and every other song from this season. Kris and Adam have already made some money for this company.

And Kris is like a genius compared to those two. Not that that means great sales. Sometimes the opposite.

So funny. Some videos were reposted that I hadn't seen in a long time. They're from a couple of years ago (I think... ETA: probably more like three years ago) when Cook was performing with friends/bandmates Andy and Neal in Tulsa. They entered a contest (My Big Break) and some short clips are on youtube. So incredible to watch the evolution. I mean they were good, but they just look like these three regular guys playing guitar! They don't even look the same. Especially Neal! He must've lost like 50 pounds or something!

YouTube - My Big Break - Midwest Kings

YouTube - MWK One true Thing

Yay about LLWD breaking the top 40 on HAC, that's great news!

Oh, wow -- Neal.

So Kris had a #1 song in NB and hit #8 or something with Heartless, right? And something else was #16. Ain't No Sunshine? Apologize and Falling Slowly were also in the Top 100, I think.

Where Adam is concerned, I still wonder what happened in the past four months so that everyone knew that his song would automatically shoot up the charts almost regardless of what it was? Because back then, he recorded NB and it didn't really sell, and Mad World didn't sell as well as Heartless.

LLWD is better than a lot of songs, yet it didn't debut very high (I think it was not actually "supposed" to. But I'll get to that). But Adam has gone through the roof.

How much of this is due to Rolling Stone? Do that many people read RS? Has he really had that much exposure on TV? Or is it internet buzz? Because in June, which was relatively recently, even his diehard fans couldn't push Mad World above Heartless.

I tend to believe most selling is based on buzz and nothing else. So I think Adam has certainly had enough to sell him.

Adam's fans on that blog are actually fretting because his song didn't go to #1 on iTunes instantly. It's at #10 or something.I didn't realize anyone was expecting that. It probably will, eventually. Geex. Chillax, folks.

Aww. The thing that Cook is taping for January has been unveiled. He'll participate in the building of a home for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. It's for a family whose youngest daughter has a blood disease. And she raised 35,000$ for the American Cancer society, while being sick!

The Peru Tribune :: Peru, Indiana
(Seems like a weird link, but it's just a link to a local newspaper in Indiana, where the family lives.)

I never really watch the show but apparently the stars who participate are directly involved in the design of the new home. It's great news and I'm once again proud to call myself his fan!

Yay for details I guess, but that article by Lyndsey Parker actually has me worried, even though she has a positive opinion. His album seems to be formulaic to a T and I'm kind of sad about the lack of acoustic Kris. Also, only four songs are left (that she did not hear). What about the songs with Daughtry, with the guy from Semisonic, Joe King and Mat Kearney? I want to hear those! And "I Need to Know"??

Also, she names Carolina Liar, Maroon 5 and Augustana. Please say it ain't so!! Maroon 5 is like my musical nightmare. I hate their music. And Augustana is like the blandest thing that ever blanded. I know it's only one person's opinion, but she mentionned Maroon 5 several times, ick!

Oh, no! I didn't mean to worry you. LOL (seriously, we are the biggest worriers ever) I don't know Augustina or Carolina Liar from a hole in the ground. So I don't even know where that comparison leads.. maybe I should be worried too? eek! :)

I like Maroon 5 (don't have any of their CD's though) and I've been really grooving to K'naan and Adam Levine in this song lately. (I do have this) :)

YouTube - K'naan Bang Bang ft. Adam Levine (Maroon 5)

Four she didn't hear - two of which Kris has co-writes on (Daughtry? Mat Kearney?) and two mystery songs. One of the songs she didn't hear is Jim's favourite.

Good thing you bought that itunes pass.. (you can't take the CD back! Lol)
(I kid, I kid)

The ESPN interview was really good.
Kris being interviewed by Sports people = total win.

Actually, I think the four songs left are all Kris writes or co-writes. She said he wrote/co-wrote 9 out of 12 and she reviewed two that he didn't write and the other one is LLWD.

So Jim heard more songs than her?

ETA: Thanks for the song, SleepinIn. It's OK I guess, but I couldn't even finish it, Adam Levine's voice is bleh (for me of course). At least, I love Kris' voice!!

I've heard of Peru, Indiana. It was the home town of Cole Porter.

And Kris is like a genius compared to those two. Not that that means great sales. Sometimes the opposite.

(...just to clarify, I meant Jordin and Archie, not Adam and Allison. We were talking about all four of them at the time. I suppose I shouldn't disparage Jordin or Archie, either.

No opinion on the review, ross?

I'm pretty sure that Cook has family near that town also, namely his brother Adam's (the one who passed away from brain cancer last May) family. I hope he has time to visit them, it must not have happened a lot in the last few months.

Some Cook fans are back to saying "OMG he's so perfect". I hate that. The guy is NOT perfect, I don't see what's the benefit of putting him on a pedestal. Yes, I admire him and his generosity, but he's still just a dude. At least, it makes the fans forget that he used to sleep (and take pictures in a bathrobe with) with miss bikini model/nurse.

Excuse the random post! It was sitting there, in build mode, on my screen, and I fell asleep. Then I woke up and sent it. Not realizing you guys had been writing all that stuff about the new CD by that AI winner. The kid who won Idol.

First of all, I'm thrilled that a song written totally by Kris will defintiely be there.

I don't really feel comfortable with Lindsey Parker. I feel like she's always all about Kris having to measure up to what she feels an Idol winner should be (Adam?) -- instead of just thinking he's awesome. Like the remark about voice lessons. She could have just said he sounds good. But he needed lessons in order to sound good.
Just leaves a bad taste.

Anyway, it sounds more pop oriented than I'd probably like, but he has always said "pop rock with a few surprises." The thing is, I was just thinking this afternoon (and you guys might not agree) that Kris should do something r & b/funk-oriented, because his smooth voice is just very suited to it. But not too much. A sample or two. So it looks like that might be the case.

I think a lot of people have called Kris "soothing," and maybe that's what they're looking for in his album. And maybe they expect acoustic. I do think he needs to give fans what they're expecting. I don't really like to think they're forcing him to be a "big voice," when to me he's an intimate singer.

Sorry to sound like a downer. At least she said it was good stuff, and that's positive spin for Kris.

ETA: Without hearing the songs, how can we tell anything? I'd actually rather not have this kind of teaser, to be honest with you. I'd just rather wait and hear it myself.

The thing she wrote re a song that's supposed to be about his troubles with the label and 19: she's good at implying negative stuff in her positive comments. "This song is about his troubles with the CD. But you'd never know it to hear it." I don't really care for her.

Oh, that's true! So I can have my Mat Kearney, Joe King, Chris Daughtry power trio? lol

So Jim heard more songs than her?
I don't really know what Jim heard for sure, but he's mentioned that he's heard 4 songs. One of which Lyndsey didn't mention.

Excuse the random post! It was sitting there, in build mode, on my screen, and I fell asleep. Then I woke up and sent it. Not realizing you guys had been writing all that stuff about the new CD by that AI winner. The kid who won Idol.

I was kinda wondering where Peru came in with some epic Kris news. LOL.

Truthfully, I think some buzz is good, plus she did a big 30 minute interview with Kris. So that's really good - they re-designed Kris's official site too. It looks much better! The forum still kinda sucks by being hard to read and follow - but, baby steps. There's way more peeps over there today. I made my very first post there last night. lol.

I think the great thing about Kris is that he is so organic and he has that ability to work the songs live. They will ebb and flow around him, it will be good. They will be electric, they will be soothing, they will be funky - depending on the mood and the day.
